The Fluidity of the Recycled Thermoplastic Elastomer on the Injection Molding process (사출성형공정에서 엘라스토머 재생재의 유동성)

  • In recent, recycling of plastic material has became a major issue due to the landfills and environmental problem. This study investigated fluidity of thermoplastic vulcanizate(TPV), which is for automobile component parts such as weather strip in order to replace ethylene propylene rubber (EPDM). So, using the spiral flow test mold and panel cover mold, we conducted an experiment on fluidity of TPV with injection molding. As results of injection molding experiment, the recycled TPV's flow length was a little bit longer than virgin TPV and a case of panel cover, the filled weight was almost same quantity.

  • The aim of this study was to develop the recycling methode of alloyed recycling plastics. The compatibilizers have been used to improve the physical properties of recycling plastics. Eethylene propylene rubber(EPR), ethylene propylene diene monomer(EPDM), styrene ethylene butylene styrene block copolymer(SEBS), maleic anhydride modified styrene ethylene butylene styrene block copolymer(SEBS-MA) and styrene butadiene styrene block copolymer(SBS) were singled out as compatibilizers. In this study, the physical properties such as impact and tensile strength have improved above 20% by using the compatibilizers.

  • In this paper, AC dielectric strength of the interface between Epoxy and EPDM (ethylene propylene diene terpolymer) was investigated. Air compress system was used to give pressure to the interface. Specimens were prepared in various ways to generate different surface conditions for each type of interface. Increasing interfacial pressure, decreasing surface roughness and spreading oil over surfaces improve the AC interfacial dielectric strength. Especially, the dielectric strength was saturated at certain interfacial pressure.

  • In this paper a determination of the optimal segment sealing material for a tunnel under the Han river between the Sungsoo-dong, Sungdong-Gu and the Chungdaw-dong, Kangnam-Gu in the Bundang railway. The geological investigation results show that some fractured zones exist loca]]y under the northern boundary of the Han river bed, but the other regions consist mostly of hard rocks of good Quality in the tunnel excavation level. Also, a hign water pressure of $5kgf/cm^2$ and a flash inflow of river water due to old boring holes are expected during tunnel excavation. A combined type sealing material of EPDM gasket with expansional rubber is selected as a optimal segment sealing material for the Han river tunnel considering the geological and site conditions.

  • These days, recycling of plastic material has become a major issue due to the landfills and environmental problem. This study investigates the fluidity of thermoplastic vulcanizate(TPV), which can be used for an automobile part such as a weather strip, in order to replace ethylene propylene rubber(EPDM). Injection molding experiments with the spiral flow test mold and panel cover mold are conducted to examine the fluidity of TPV during injection molding. It is found out that the recycled TPV's flow length is a little bit longer than the virgin TPV. However, the filling weight for a panel cover parts by a recycled TPV is almost the same as that by a virgin TPV.

An experimental study for water tightness of segment under high water pressure (고수압 조건에서의 세그먼트 방수성능평가에 대한 실험적 연구)

  • In this study, the performance of water tightness of water expansional sealing material and gasket was evaluated. The water tightness test was performed varying the type of inner pressure condition, for which the water expansional sealing material was inundated for 5 days to evaluate the ability of water tightness. In order to carry out this test, we made use of two types of water expansional sealing material; general type and combined type with non-expansional rubber. In the case of gasket, EPDM gasket and complex gasket sticked to the water expansional sealing material were applied. The performance of water tightness depended on the construction defect and the deformation of segment. The construction defect and segment deformation were generally expressed by gap and offset of the construction joint. The results, of tests showed that the performance of water tightness was largely influenced by the gap between segments. Management criteria of gap and offset were proposed.

  • The purpose of this paper is to introduce a method to predict the case thermal insulation charred and erosion thickness as a function of the exposure time to combustion gases and in solid rocket motors. The sizing of the insulator requires a good estimation of the thermal and mechanical loads at the wall. The method is particularly suitable for internal insulation areas subjected to high radiative, convective heat fluxes and $Al_2O_3$ slag pool. The mathematical approach and lab-scale experiment were intentionally simplified in order to obtain some simple and rapid relationships particularly useful for trade-off studies and thermal insulation preliminary design. The method was utilized to compute the charred and erosion thicknesses of the insulation on the aft chamber domes. A comparison between theoretical and experimental insulator char thicknesses of the motor insulation is reported, indicating the applicability of the predictive method employed.

Effect of Compatibilizers on the Mechanical Properties of Waste Polypropylene/Waste Ground Rubber Tire Composites (상용화제의 첨가에 따른 재생 폴리프로필렌/폐타이어 분말 복합체의 기계적 특성 분석)

  • In this study, waste polypropylene and waste ground rubber tire(WGRT) composites were prepared by using a modular intermeshing co-rotating twin screw extruder. The effect of three main factors such as WGRT contents, particle size, compatibilizers on the properties of waste PP/WGRT composites was extensively investigated. Tensile strength of the composites was decreased with an increase in WGRT contents, whereas elongation at break and impact strength were increased. The tensile strength, elongation at break and impact strength of the composites with the smaller size of the WGRT were more enhanced. Addition of PP-g-MA into waste PP/WGRT composites exhibited better tensile strength. However, elongation at break and impact strength were slightly decreased with increasing of PP-g-MA. On the other hand, tensile strength, impact strength and elongation at break of the composites were increased by adding the EPDM-g-MA and SEBS-g-MA. Especially, elongation at break was significantly increased compared to the composite with PP-g-MA.

  • 브롬화 부틸고무는 새로운 연속적(連續的)인 방법(方法)에 의해 제품(製品)의 질(質)이 균일(均一)하고 안정(安定)한 제품(製品)을 얻을 수 있는 바 이것은 소위(所謂) 상품명(商品名)으로 Folysar Bromobutyl X2라 한다. 이 고무는 일반(一般) 부틸고무와는 달리 여러가지 장점(長點)을 지니고 있다. 다시 말하면 일반(一般) 부틸고무에 비(比)해 첫째 가황속도(加黃速度)가 빠르며, 둘째 천연(天然)고무 또는 SBR과 같은 불포화(不飽化) 고무들과 혼합사용(混合使用)이 가능(可能)하며, 셋째 이러한 고무들과의 혼합사용시(混合使用時) 접착력(接着力)도 우수(優秀)하며 마지막으로 글로로프렌이나 EPDM과도 혼합(混合)이 가능(可能)하기 때문에 여러가지 용도(用途)로 사용(使用)할 수 있다. 이러한 점(點)을 참작(參酌)하여 브롬화 부틸고무의 이용도(利用度)는 (1) 타이어중, tubeless 타이어의 inner liner, white side wall, sidewall coverstrip 그러고 라디얼 타이어에 이용(利用)될 수 있고, (2) 내열성(耐熱性)이 요구(要求)되는 고속용(高速用) 또는 heavy-duty 타이어의 튜우브, 자동차(自動車) 부품(部品) 예(例)컨대 mount등(等)에 이용(利用)할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 행크 라인닝, 고무 호오스, 콘베어 고무벨트, 의료용 병마개, 접착제등(等)에 광범위(廣範圍)하게 이용(利用)할 수 있다.
