Miniaturization of equipments which have wireless network function and sensor have changed utilization method of computer in daily life, and have contributed to development for ubiquitous computing environment. In this paper, we design camera control system based wireless mobile and web-environmental through which nurse, doctor and family of patient can share and observe the information on condition of patient in hospital. Besides, this camera control system makes it possible to integrate diverse equipments of hospital into one system, and to conduct remote control function which can be applied to the patient control system. It is impossible to control shooting direction of camera apparatus in a remote area for observing patient in a hospital room through general web camera. So in this paper, we showed new design; we attached step motor which can rotate 360 degrees to web camera, and the step motor can operate through control board. Besides, we developed application for two environments, mobile and web-based environment, which enables us to offer proper efficiency in accordance with condition of observer through observation of control and collected image data.
We had developed the on-line environmental monitoring system which has installed around Kori Nuclear Power Plants and will be taken the place of the existing system. The system consists of a main computer and 11 sets of radiation monitoring post equipments. Nal(Tl) scintillation detectro was adopted in addition to ion-chamber detector and implemented with DCU(Dose Conversion Unit) and SCA(Single Channel Analyzer). Compared with the existing system, it has revised feature in the radiation measurements which are detection of artificial radioactivity and 2-ways of the radiatiion detectors. The field test trsults show that the developed radiation detecting equipments can measure environmental radiation withn 5.0% of the theoretical value.

In order to predict and control the environmental and health impacts of ionizing radiation in environmental sources such as groundwater, it is necessary to identify the radionuclides present. Beta-emitting radionuclides are frequently identified by measuring their characteristic energy spectra. The present work shows that self-attenuation effects from volume sources result in a geometry-dependent shift in the characteristic spectra, which needs to be taken into account in order to correctly identify the radionuclides present. These effects are shown to be compounded due to the subsequent shift in the photon spectra produced by the detector, in this case an inorganic solid scintillator ($CaF_2:Eu$) monitored using a silicon photomultiplier. Using tritiated water as an environmentally relevant, and notoriously difficult to monitor case study, analytical predictions for the shift in the energy spectra as a function of depth of source have been derived. These predictions have been validated using Geant4 simulations and experimental results measured using bespoke instrumentation.
The term of stress was used by many scientists, but there were several difinitions about stress, and this term are using in societies frequently. Generally stress is defined as equilibrium, harmony, and adaptation to external stimulations, in 1930 s Hans Selye was the first scientist who used the term of stress and he pointed out the stress mean the function of force in body. When we get stress the stimulation go to the sympathetic-adrenomedulla system and epinephrine and norepinnephrine are secreted from adrenal medulla. Author tried to investigate the change of catecholamine secretion from rat urine which were exposed to 80 dB noise environment. The control rat urine released 0.03 $\pm$ 0.01 ng/ml of epinephrine and 0.18 $\pm$ 0.04 ng/ml, but in noise exposed group the epinephrine was 0.42 $\pm$ 0.07 ng/ml and norepinephrine was 2.16 $\pm$ 0.48 ng/ml.
BACKGROUND: The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of Lycium chinense Miller fruit and its representative constituent betaine on reduction of immobility time and blood parameters in balb/c mice. METHODS AND RESULTS: We investigated the immobility time and the changes in aspects of blood biochemical parameters by the administration of L. chinense Miller fruit and its representative constituent betaine, after the forced swimming test. The immobility time was significantly reduced about 41.3% and 53.6%, respectively, in the animal of L. chinense Miller fruit and its representative constituent betaine-administrated group for 7 days, in comparison with that of the control group. The level of blood urea nitrogen was significantly decreased in L. chinense Miller fruit and its representative constituent betaine-treated group compared with the control group (P < 0.05), respectively. In addition, the interlukin-2 levels of mice in L. chinense Miller fruit and betaine treated group was increased compared with the control group. CONCLUSION: These results indicate that L. chinense Miller fruit and betaine might be helpful in the immune function improvement, enhance physical stamina, and fatigue recovery.
A Robotic milking cluster system with the manipulator for an automatic milking system was designed and built for farmer to work easily and comfortably during milking processing. The cluster system was composed of screws, cams and links for power transmission, DC motors, the Quick Basic one-chip microprocessor, the vision system for image processing, and tea-cups. Software, written in Visual C+ and Quick Basic, combined the function of image capture, image processing, milking cluster control, and control into one control. The unit was made to transfer from four fixed points to four teats with four teat-cups. Performance tests of the cluster unit, the fully integrated system, were conducted to attach and detach the teat-cup on the teat of a artificial cow. The transfer programming provided for a teat-cup milking loop during the system starts and comes back the original fixed point at the manipulator of it for milking. It transferred the teat-cup with a success rate of more than 70%. The average time it took ot perform the milking loop was about 20 seconds.
This study was done to find chemicals adequate to control alkalinity and hardness in order to reduce dissolved phosphorus in water bodies like rivers and lakes. Five chemicals were selected for the study: calcite, lime, dolomite, magnesite, and gypsum. Data were obtained from the calculations with MINTEQ model as a function of dosage variations of each chemical. Findings are as follows: Three out of the five chemicals are found to be effective in reducing the dissolved phosphorus, i.e., calcite, lime, and dolomite. Calcite and dolomite are able to lower the phosphorus concentration up to one thousandth fold whereas lime does one hundred thousandths fold. In viewpoint of pH variation, both calcite and dolomite seem to be safe since the pH does not increase over 8.3 even in case of overdose. In the same circumstance, with lime the pH increases beyond 9 which is considered to be the highest pH level for the protection of water ecosystem. Nevertheless it is recommendable to use lime in case where there are some difficulties in water quality control due to algae blooms.

Objective: It has been reported that the sleep apnea syndrome in the asthmatic patients is prevalent, however, the systematic study in this field using polysomnography has rarely been performed. The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between the apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) and the pulmonary function in asthmatic children. Methods: This study enrolled 19 male and 12 female asthmatic children aged 6-13 years (average $8.2{\pm}1.7$ years old). Complete overnight polysomnography and pulmonary function test were performed for the participants. Results: Of the 31 asthmatic children, 21 (67.7%) met the diagnostic criteria of the pediatric sleep apnea and the average AHI was $1.7{\pm}1.5/h$. The children with higher AHI showed poorer pulmonary function ($FEV_1$/FVC ratio: p=0.002, $FEV_1$%pred: p=0.047). Conclusion: These results suggest that the prevalence of the pediatric sleep apnea could be very high among the asthmatic children and the severity of the sleep apnea correlates with the pulmonary function. However, the case-control study to compare the AHI between the asthma and control groups is absolutely necessary because few normative data are available for the children.
As interest in health issues increases, it is imperative to ensure good water quality from wastewater treatment plant effluent to preserve environmental health. In particular, currently there is a lack of water ecosystem risk assessment on pharmaceutical substances remaining in effluent. In this study, antidepressant escitalopram (ESC), antiepileptic carbamazepine (CBZ) and lead, which impact the behavior of aquatic organisms, were used to test their impact on the potential behavior of zebrafish. Zebrafish have been widely used in toxicological assessment studies due to the ease of handlinggenerically and genetically. It was possible to observe changes in the growth of organisms through monitoring the embryos' cognitive and behavior assessment. In this study, the embryo lethal dose test showed that the lethal concentration of ESC and CBZ was at 10 ppb, which is below the water quality criterion (100 ppb), increased by 32.5 % and 40 %, respectively. In the cognitive test, it was found that the cognitive ability function decreased by 22 % and 17% for ESC(500 ppb) and CBZ(1,000 ppb) respectively relative to control. Based on these results, it is necessary to initiate efforts to remove these trace pollutants from sewage treatment facilities to protect the health of aquatic organisms.
Objectives: Some animal studies have reported that methyl mercury causes developmental toxicities such as placental and fetal weight loss, but the mechanism is still unclear. This study aimed to investigate the developmental toxicities of methyl mercury, focusing on placental endocrine function and fetal growth retardation in rats. Methods: Positively same-time-mated female Sprague-Dawley rats were purchased on gestational day (GD) eight and treated with 0, 5, 10 and 20 ppm of methyl mercury (n=5) dissolved in tap water from GD eight through 19. During treatment, the drinking water (methyl mercury) intake and body weight of each pregnant rat was measured daily. On day 19, caesarean sections were performed and blood samples were collected. Developmental data such as placental and fetal weights, fetus numbers, and placental efficiency (fetal weight/placental weight) were also collected. Placental prolactin-growth hormone (PRL-GH) family, such as placental lactogen (PL) -Iv, II, and prolactin-like protein (PLP) -B, levels in serum were analyzed by ELISA. Also, placental tissues were assigned to histochemistry. Results: The mean cumulative methyl mercury exposure for the 5, 10, and 20 ppm groups were 2.37, 4.63, and 9.66 mg, respectively. The mean daily exposure of the 5, 10, and 20 ppm groups were 0.24, 0.47, and 0.97 mg, respectively. Maternal body weight increased in accordance with GD. There was no significant difference in weight gain among the experimental groups. Histopathologic changes were not observed in placental tissues among the experimental groups. However, mean placental and fetal weights were lower in the 10 and 20 ppm exposed groups compared to the control. Placental efficiency was also lower in the 10 and 20 ppm exposed groups compared to the control. Serum PL-Iv and II levels were lower in the 10 and 20 ppm exposed groups than the control, in accordance with the changing pattern of placental and fetal weights and placental efficiency. Conclusion: The inhibitory effects of methyl mercury on the serum levels of placental PRL-GH family such as PL-Iv and II may be secondary leads to the reduction of placental efficiency and fetal growth retardation in rats.
