해충의 미생물학적 방제 (Microbiological Control of Insect Pests)

  • Despite the great importance of chemical insecticides, with the ever increasing resistance of pest insects to chemical insecticides and the growing concern over environmental pollution, it becomes evident that the problem of pest attack on crops cannot be solved by anyone system. Under these circumstances, main pathogens of insects, i.e., viruses, bacteria, fungi and protozoa, have been studied to control many insect pests. Some of these pathogens are now being produced as microbial insecticides at the rate of hundreds of tons per year in the world. Some microbial insecticides are very effective against numerous or target insects under suitable environmental condition, and microbial control has been played an important role in integrated control program. They have many unique properties such as selectivity, multiplication and harmless to higher animals. However, we must be aware also that there are many problems to be solved, such as safety, persistence and difficulty of efficacy, etc_ on the microbial insecticides.

무농약 유기재배 사과원의 병해충 발생 및 관리 실태 (Current status on the occurrence and management of disease, insect and mite pests in the non-chemical or organic apple orchards)

  • 2005년부터 2008년에 걸쳐 무농약 유기 농산물 인증을 받은 사과원의 변동상황을 조사하였고, 무농약 유기재배 사과원에서 병해충 발생과 관리 실태 파악을 목적으로, 2006년에는 17명을, 2009년에는 13명을 대상으로 심각한 피해를 야기하는 문제병해충과 병해충 관리를 위해서 사용하는 친환경 농자재에 대해서 설문조사를 실시하였다. 또한, 2007년에는 무농약 유기 농산물 인증을 받은 음성 무주 장성 영주 의성 청송 칠곡 지역의 10개 사과원을 대상으로, 2009년에는 충주 예산 영덕 지역의 3개 사과원을 추가한 13개 사과원을 대상으로 피해를 많이 주고 있는 병해충의 발생상황과 병해충 관리를 위해서 사용하는 친환경 농자재에 대해서 방문조사를 실시하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 2005~2008년에 걸쳐 사과에 무농약농산물 인증을 받은 농가는 각각 9, 24, 42, 48농가였으며, 유기농산물(전환기유기농산물 포함) 인증을 받은 농가는 각각 5, 4, 11, 30농가로서, 2005년 대비 2008년에 무농약농산물은 5.3배, 유기농산물은 6배가 증가하였다. 무농약 유기 농산물 인증 사과원에서 문제병해는 갈색무늬병, 탄저병, 겹무늬썩음병, 그을음(점무늬)병이었는데, 석회유황합제와 석회보르도액을 사용하는 사과원의 경우에 2006년과 2007년에 비하여 2009년에는 갈색무늬병, 탄저병, 겹무늬썩음병의 피해가 적었고, 그을음(점무늬)병은 심하지는 않았지만 문제가 되었다. 문제해충은 2006년과 2007년에는 사과혹진딧물, 복숭아순나방, 복숭아심식나방이었으나, 2009년은 교미교란제, 난황유, 기계유유제를 사용하는 사과원의 경우에 이들 해충의 피해는 크게 적어진 반면에, 일부 사과원에서 사과유리나방과 사과면충이 새롭게 문제 되었다.

Sampling, Surveillance and Forecasting of Insect Population for Integrated Pest Management in Sericulture

  • Pest monitoring through field surveys and surveillance helps in forecasting the population build up of pest. It reduces the load of pesticides application and forms the basis of Integrated Pest Management in sericulture. Common sampling techniques for quantifying pest populations and damage caused by them are reviewed emphasizing the need for quick and simple sampling methods. Various direct and indirect sampling methods for establishing pest populations are discussed and methods have been discussed to use indirect sampling method under IPM programme in sericulture. The use of pheromone lures and traps forms one of the important ingredients of integrated pest management, which calls for integration of all available methods in a cost effective and environmental friendly manner offering consistent efficacy. Silk-worms feed on the variety of silk host plants and spin cocoons. Each silk host plant is attacked in the field by number of insect pest species. Several pests are common to mulberry, tasar, oak tasar, muga and eri host plant but pest status and seasonal abundance differs from each crop. The key pests are serious perennially occurring persistent species which cause considerable yield loss every year on large areas and require control measure. Regular occurrence of minor pest is noticed but sudden increase in its population is not known. The occasional pests are sporadic but potential causing sufficient damage. Silk losses due to attack of all the pests have not been calculated. However, information on pest biology and ecology, and control practices being practiced is available but the period of outbreak of major pests and predators on silkworms and its host plant needs to be reinvestigated. Pest and predators forecasting based on surveillance information may provide an opportunity to minimize the losses, particularly to reduce expenditure involved in pest management.

  • Investigation of the environmental impact of widespread pesticide use has revealed a virtue/vice relationship. Although many pesticides perform their function and disappear without harm to the environment, others persist beyond their useful purpose and cause direct of indirect hazard to man, domestic animals and wildlife. Concurrently, many pests have rapidly adjusted to chemical control practices through changes in behavior that avoid exposure to pesticides of throuth genetic selection for populations resistant to the toxicants. The prospect of losing control over insect herbivores and desease vectors and returning to the days of global hunger and disease is unthinkable. Fortunately, from basic studies of insect and plant biology many opportunities for the development of safe, selective and environmentally pacific strategies for insect pest management are being realized.

친환경농업 해충방제용 제제의 현황과 전망, 그리고 산업화의 중요성 (Status and Future Prospects of Pest Control Agents in Environmentally-friendly Agriculture, and Importance of their Commercialization)

  • The use of bioactive materials derived from microorganisms and plants has played a role in pest management in environmentally-friendly agriculture (EFA) system. In Korea, a number of agricultural agents for the control of insect pests have been registered officially as biopesticides and marketed widely. However, most of the biopesticides has a limitation in the resource availability of bioactive materials, which has been one of main problems related to the commercialization of agricultural agents. Plant materials and microbial metabolites are the best sources as starting components to commercialize natural-occurring agricultural agents for pest management. The lack of modernized system for the standardization and quality control of the starting materials, however, has also received as a main problem related to the commercialization of agricultural agents. Considered that EFA business has kept growing bigger and bigger with global economic status, the commercialization of agricultural agents is necessary to meet the required number of agricultural agents officially available in EFA. This study describes the status and future prospects of pest control agents in EFA. A number of main issues hindered in the commercialization of agricultural agents are discussed in order to present a promising approach to successful commercialization.

농산물 수출입 검역시 병해충 방제를 위한 전자선 조사기술의 응용(사례연구: 귤가루깍지벌레와 복숭아혹진딧물) (Application of Electron Beam Irradiation for Insect Pest Control in Agricultural Products Quarantine [Case study: Myzus persicae and Planococcus citri (Risso)])

  • 국가간 농산물의 수출입 검역시 새로운 기술로 인정받고 있는 전자빔 조사시 귤가루깍지벌레와 복숭아혹진딧물의 방제효과를 조사한 결과, 저선량의 전자선 조사(30, 60, 90 및 120 Gy)는 복숭아혹진딧물과 귤가루깍지벌레의 직접적인 방제효과는 나타나지 않았으나, 발육 및 생식 억제에 크게 영향을 끼쳐 해충에 대한 불활성화 효과를 나타내었다. 이 같은 결과는 국가간 농산물 수출입 검역현장에서 전자선 조사기술이 메틸브로마이드와 같은 화학적 병해충 방제를 대체할 새로운 가능성을 확인해 주는 결과이다.

복숭아혹진딧물 방제용 식물추출물 탐색 및 살충성분 구명 (Screening of Plant Extracts and Identification of their Insecticidal Metabolites against Myzus persicae)

  • BACKGROUND: Green peach aphid (Myzus persicae) is an insect pest that significantly affects crop production. A number of pesticides have been used for aphid control, but their concerns on insect resistance and food safety have required alternative methods for pest management. In an effort to find for an alternative approach to aphid control, we screened plants extracts and examined their potentiality as insecticidal bio-resources. METHODS AND RESULTS: Two hundred and ninety eight plant extracts were examined for insecticidal activity against the aphid, and the best candidate among them was chosen for further study. The extracts from Cinnamomum camphora was determined to be the best candidate exhibiting insecticidal activity more than 60% at a level of $1,000{\mu}g/mL$. GC/MS analyses detected camphor, borneol, 4-terpineol, ${\alpha}$-terpineol and caryophyllene oxide as major compositions from the extracts obtained by hydrodistillation. Caryophyllene oxide exhibited the highest insecticidal activity with a $LC_{50}$ value of $237{\mu}g/mL$. Camphor lowered significantly the $LC_{50}$ value of caryophyllene oxide and increased largely its concentration in aphid, suggesting that camphor played a role in enhancing the insecticidal activity of caryophyllene oxide. CONCLUSION: This study suggested that camphor and caryophyllene oxide may be used as an insecticidal bio-resource for insect control against green peach aphid.

특용과수의 병해충 및 기상재해 방지를 위한 통합관리 플랫폼 설계에 대한 연구 (A Study on Integrated Platform for Prevention of Disease and Insect-Pest of Fruit Tree)

  • 최근 IoT 기술을 다양한 분야에 적용하는 사례가 늘어나고 있는 추세이다. 특히 각종 환경 센서를 통해 수집되는 대량의 데이터를 분석하여 적절한 정보를 제공하는 기술에 대해 연구되고 있다. 이러한 기술은 각 산업분야 중 농산업분야에서도 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 농산업 분야에서 생장환경의 조성을 위한 모니터링 및 제어에 대한 연구가 많이 진행되고 있으나 병해충 및 기상재해 정보는 우리나라 평균 기상환경에 맞추어 방제 매뉴얼을 작성하여 제공됨으로 인해 실제 지역별 환경에 매우 힘든 실정이다. 특히, 특용과수는 전남지역에 생산량이 매우 높은편으로 지역 실정에 맞는 정보를 효율적으로 제공하기 위해서는 지역별 정보에 대한 수집에서 전문가 정보 제공에 이르는 다양한 시스템이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 미세기상 기후 수집 및 영상 정보를 통한 이미지 분석, 예찰 모형 등을 통해 병해충 및 기상 재해에 대한 피해를 최소화하기 위한 통합지원 플랫폼을 제안한다. 특용과수의 병해충에 대한 피해를 줄이기 위해 다양한 IoT 기술들을 활용하여 이를 통해 병해충에 대한 방제시기를 적절하게 알려주고, 생장환경을 적절하게 유지함으로써 특용과수 농가의 피해를 최소화하고 생산성을 향상시킬 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Pest Prediction in Rice using IoT and Feed Forward Neural Network

  • Rice is a fundamental staple food commodity all around the world. Globally, it is grown over 167 million hectares and occupies almost 1/5th of total cultivated land under cereals. With a total production of 782 million metric tons in 2018. In Pakistan, it is the 2nd largest crop being produced and 3rd largest food commodity after sugarcane and rice. The stem borers a type of pest in rice and other crops, Scirpophaga incertulas or the yellow stem borer is very serious pest and a major cause of yield loss, more than 90% damage is recorded in Pakistan on rice crop. Yellow stem borer population of rice could be stimulated with various environmental factors which includes relative humidity, light, and environmental temperature. Focus of this study is to find the environmental factors changes i.e., temperature, relative humidity and rainfall that can lead to cause outbreaks of yellow stem borers. this study helps to find out the hot spots of insect pest in rice field with a control of farmer's palm. Proposed system uses temperature, relative humidity, and rain sensor along with artificial neural network to predict yellow stem borer attack and generate warning to take necessary precautions. result shows 85.6% accuracy and accuracy gradually increased after repeating several training rounds. This system can be good IoT based solution for pest attack prediction which is cost effective and accurate.

논 태우기가 논 포장 및 농경지 서식 절지동물에 미치는 영향 평가 (Evaluation of the Effect of Burning Rice Paddy Fields on Arthropods in Rice Paddy Fields and Agricultural Fields)

  • It is known that the effect of traditional agricultural techniques of burning farmland such as paddy fields and fields gradually declines and affects both the fauna and flora of the rice paddy as well as pests. Therefore, in this study, a study was conducted to investigate the effects of burning rice paddy fields and rice paddy fields levee on the control effect of winter pests inhabiting agricultural land and the amount of pests generated and damaged during the growing season. As a result of this study, the pest control effect of incineration reduces not only the density of pests, but also beneficial insects (natural enemies) and non-reptiles. It is judged that burning has a very low insect control effect. It is expected to be used as basic data to create a sustainable agricultural environment, such as minimizing various negative effects such as pest control effects, wildfires, and air pollution caused by incineration, and suppressing unnecessary incineration and fine dust generation.
