As the gravity of the issue of the global warming surfaced, environmental protection and energy conservation have become one of the most serious issues that global society faces. At the status quo, there are criticisms for not effectively educating the students although the problem is very severe. In middle school, for instance, only 10% of the school offer environmental education while only $20{\sim}30%$ of the high school offer it. As witnessed by these examples, we can infer that there are not well-structured, effective environmental education for teenagers. Recently, NIE(Newspaper-In-Education) has been used as effective means for some fields of middle and/ or high school education. If so, it also could be used for environmental education. The researches, however, on the topic of NIE on environmental education are very rare. In this study, the effect of NIE on environmental education was empirically tested. Our basic assumption is that NIE will cause differences in environmental perception; the cognition and concern. And environment education through NIE will cause the high level of cognition, concern, and practice regarding environment issue. Using simple experimental design and regression analysis, we tested the effect of NIE on cognition, and, concern of environment issue, and then, on the practice of environment-improving action. The "cognition level" did not show significant difference between the experimental group(which was exposed to NIE) and control group(which was not exposed to NIE). The "concern level" for environment showed significant difference. Finally, the "practice level" showed highly significant difference between the experimental and the control group. According to regression analysis, "concern" and "NIE"(dummy variable) was turned out to be statistically significant variables for practice of environment improving action. Therefore, we came up with the conclusion that NIE, which provides the most up-to-date information regarding the environmental status, can serve as the good supplementary mechanism for the effective environment education in the present Korean middle school curriculum system. The statistical result also suggests that each individual school needs to employ and extend NIE method in its environment education curriculum.
This study investigated female consumers' attitudes toward the general and fashion-specific climate environments and analyzed the relations between the attitudes and the variables such as values, knowledge, and climate cognition. The data was collected from a sample of 450 women in their 20s, 30s, and 40s via quota sampling from a selfreported online survey in 2023. The measurement comprised the attitudes toward the general and fashion-specific climate environments, Rokeach's 18 terminal values, Holbrook's 8 consumer values regarding fashion products, climate environmental knowledge related to fashion, the cognition concerning the climate crisis, and several demographic variables. Descriptive statistics, factor analysis, reliability analysis, and correlations were applied to the data using SPSS. As a result, two factors were determined for the attitudes toward the general and fashion-specific climate environments, respectively: social and personal. Family security, happiness, and self-respect were identified as important terminal values. Quality, efficiency, aesthetics, and ethics were considered important when the current sample group purchased fashion products. The mean score of climate environmental knowledge related to fashion was lower than neutral; however the cognition of the climate crisis was considerably high. Attitudes toward the general and fashion-specific climate environments showed positive relations with values, knowledge, and climate cognition. The results were discussed to provide some insight and suggestions to carbon neutrality and the related studies.
The purpose of this study was to analyze water words written by college students in order to investigate their cognition by using 'contents of water education for sustainable development'. For this study, researchers applied qualitative analysis methods such as a mind map and a water word association test, as well as quantitative analysis methods including a water common sense quiz and a survey of water cognition. The results of this study were as follows; First, college students were rarely interested in water, since the score of a water common sense quiz was quite low; water cognition that college students felt in their daily life was also deficient. Second, college student data shows that while they had specific water cognition, they did not have integrated view of water. Therefore, the study on water cognition of balanced views related to water should be carried out through developing and appling a interdisciplinary subject.
The purpose of the study is to examine the effect of VMD image appropriateness in apparel shopping contexts. Two competing models are utilized. The first model is developed from the emotion-cognition theory which explains that environmental cues(i.e., VMD image appropriateness) generate consumers' emotion, and in turn, consumers' behaviors. The second model is developed based on the cognitive theory of emotions and posits that environmental cues stimulates consumers' cognitive perceptions of retail environments, subsequently influencing consumers' emotional and behavioral response. A 2(VMD image appropriateness: high vs. low) between-subjects factorial design experiment was conducted. Female college students(n=592) participated in the experiment. Using structural equation modeling the study found that the emotion-cognition model better explains the effect of VMD image appropriateness on consumers' emotional, cognitive, and behavioral responses.

The purpose of this study was. to develop a valid and reliable Likert-type scale to assess middle school students' attitude toward environmental pollution. The evaluation categories of this instrument were cognition and conaction levels. Initially, 42 statements (29 statements for cognition level and 13 statements for conaction level) were framed. This pilot instrument was administered to 1015 middle school students. To select valid and reliable statements, the 42 initial statements were analyzed by item mean, standard deviation, and response distribution. In addition, the emotional intensity: of each statement was judged. As a result, 22 final statements (14 statements for cognition level and 8 statements for conaction level) were developed. Cronbach alpha coefficient of the instrument was 0.76 with a range of item-total correlation from 0.229 to 0.488. Factor analysis was done to explore the potential constructs of this instrument. As a result, six factors were extracted. Those factors were identified as "Conaction to prevent environmental pollution", "Confrontation with the enterprise which causes environmental pollution", "Voluntary inclination to participate in the group which prevents environmental pollution", "Discussion on environmental pollution", "Environmental pollution and interests", and "Everyday sources of environmental pollution".
The purpose of this study is to focus on the townscape of Daegu based on the urban characteristics of the landscape cognition and images captured by citizens. The analysis was performed by the data obtained from questionnaires and interviews. This study methods were deals the cognition characteristics, landmark landscape, visual preference landscape, image and satisfaction. The results are summarized as follows: 1. Apsan> Dalsung Park> Conservative> Dongsung Road, etc. That is constructed Nonphysical elements(62.0%) and Physical elements(38.0%) 2. The orders of representative landscape(Landmark) in city were estimated Mt.Palgong> Daegu Tower> Gat Rock> Mt.Apsan> Dalsung Park, etc. As a whole middle and old people(over 30gen) preferenced as a history landscape or natural landscape, but youth people(10-20gen) preferenced as visible and interesting artifical places. 3. While the positive attitudes for the image of city were traditional(3.30), intimacy(3.58), and rest(2.90), the negative attitudes were unnewly(2.34), closing(2.37) and narrow(2.40). Also total satisfaction for that was estimated 5.51. 4. Psychological factors, related to the satisfaction of the image of city were composed of four factors, individuality character, pleasure character, amenity character, formation character. And the presumption formula of satisfaction was: Satisfaction = 5.477 + 0.752(Individuality) + 0.470(Pleasure) + 0.413(Amenity) + 0.241(Formation).

Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the public cognition and information acquisition route for heavy metals and organic solvents in the general population in order to provide information for the development of public relations materials. Methods: The study was carried out by questionnaire from January to March 2011 by an interview with trained surveyors. There were 700 participants, divided by gender and age. A questionnaire was issued consisting of subjective and objective cognition evaluation items and questions about information acquisition route and preferred information acquisition route for six heavy metals and five organic solvents. Data were expressed as a percentage using the SPSS 23.0 software package. Result: For heavy metals, subjective and objective cognition degrees were higher in the order of lead, mercury, cadmium, and arsenic. They were higher among males than females, and in adults compared to school-age subjects. For organic solvents, both cognition degrees were high in the order of acetone, benzene, and formaldehyde. However, cognition degree by gender and age showed a complex pattern. As a response to information acquisition route, broadcast media had the highest in all ages and genders, followed by word of mouth from neighbors in elementary school children, school education or expert lectures in middle and high school students up to people in their 30s, and print media among those in their 40s to over 60s. There was no difference in the order by gender. As a response to preference for information acquisition route, broadcast media also proved the highest in all ages and genders, followed by school education or professional lectures among those in elementary school and over their 60s, and the internet in other age groups. Females preferred school education or expert lectures and word of mouth from neighbors, while males preferred the internet. In the case of the internet, the ranking was higher for preferred information acquisition route compared with the ranking for information acquisition route. Conclusions: This data on cognition degree, information acquisition route, and preferred information acquisition route according to gender and age can provide basic data for the development of educational and promotional materials for heavy metals and organic solvents exposure management.
This study measures whether people who are expected to live in the new city of Namak are environmentally and ecologically aware, and it investigates which variables are related to their willingness to move to an ecological city. This study investigated the environmental cognition of inhabitants in Chollanam Province; it focused particularly on ecologically -oriented values, environmental knowledge, environmental management behavior, and the awareness of an ecological city. For the purposes of this study, 500 inhabitants from Mokpo, Kwangju and Muan who are expected to live in a new city of Namak were surveyed. Awareness of the ecological city was at medium level; half of the respondents were not aware of an ecological city. Multiple regression analysis was conducted to estimate the effects of the variables on the awareness of the ecological city. The most significant variable was environmental knowledge. Next, experience in environmental education and homeownership affected awareness. Half of the respondents were willing to move to an ecological city. Among all of the variables, seven variables were significantly related to the willingness to move to an ecological city.

This study is about an analysis of the relation between the degree of cognition of student's acts within limits when coping with several types of disaster and the degree of cognition of damage by disasters in the method of multiple regression analysis. The dependent variable is the degree of cognition of student's acts within limits and the independent variable is the degree of cognition of damage by disasters such as heavy snow, typhoon, heavy rain, heat, and yellow sand. A survey of graduates of metropolitan area high-schools has found that there are no difference between girls and boys of the degree of cognition of student's acts within limits when coping with disasters. This study finds that the independent variable, which are playgrounds, animals and plants, streets and roads, altitude and incline, gives positive effect to the degree of cognition of student's acts within limits when coping with typhoon or heavy rain in order. The study also finds that the degree of cognition of student's acts within limits when coping with heavy snow is affected positively by streets and roads, playgrounds, altitude and incline in order. It also shows that there are factors that has an effect to the degree of cognition of student's acts within limits when coping with yellow sand and heat. This study proposes suggestions to facility plans based on these facts discovered.
