  • There have been several tipical methods being used tomeasure the fuzziness (entropy) of fuzzy sets. Pedrycz is the original motivation of this paper. Recently, Wang and Chiu [FSS103(1999) 443-455] and Pedrycz [FSS 64(1994) 21-30] showed the relationship(addition, subtraction, multiplication) between the entropies of the resultant fuzzy number and the original fuzzy numbers of same type. In this paper, using Lebesgue-Stieltjes integral, we generalize results of Wang and Chiu [FSS 103(1999) 443-455] concerning entropy arithmetic operations without the condition of same types of fuzzy numbers. And using this results and trade-off relationship between information energy and entropy, we study more properties of information energy of fuzzy numbers.

  • Compared to the past, people can control end devices via open channel. Although this open channel provides convenience to users, it frequently turns into a security hole. In this paper, we propose a new human-centered security risk analysis method that puts weight on the relationship between end devices. The measure derives from the concept of entropy rate, which is known as the uncertainty per a node in a network. As there are some limitations to use entropy rate as a measure in comparing different size of networks, we divide the entropy rate of a network by the maximum entropy rate of the network. Also, we show how to avoid the violation of irreducible, which is a precondition of the entropy rate of a random walk on a graph.

  • A cantilever beam with a breathing crack is studied to improve the breathing crack identification sensitivity by the parametric optimization of sample entropy and wavelet transformation. Crack breathing is a special bi-linear phenomenon experienced by fatigue cracks which are under dynamic loadings. Entropy is a measure, which can quantify the complexity or irregularity in system dynamics, and hence employed to quantify the bi-linearity/irregularity of the vibration response, which is induced by the breathing phenomenon of a fatigue crack. To improve the sensitivity of entropy measurement for crack identification, wavelet transformation is merged with entropy. The crack identification is studied under different sinusoidal excitation frequencies of the cantilever beam. It is found that, for the excitation frequencies close to the first modal frequency of the beam structure, the method is capable of detecting only 22% of the crack depth percentage ratio with respect to the thickness of the beam. Using parametric optimization of sample entropy and wavelet transformation, this crack identification sensitivity is improved up to 8%. The experimental studies are carried out, and experimental results successfully validate the numerical parametric optimization process.

  • Grouping problem with similarities between DNA sequences are studied. The similaritymeasure and the distance measure showed the complementary characteristics. Distance measure can be obtained by complementing similarity measure, and vice versa. Similarity measure is derived and proved. Usefulness of the proposed similarity measure is applied to grouping problem of 25 cockroach DNA sequences. By calculation of DNA similarity, 25 cockroaches are clustered by four groups, and the results are compared with the previous neighbor-joining method.

  • In this paper, fuzzy entropy and similarity measure to measure the uncertainty and similarity of data as real value were introduced. Design of fuzzy entropy and similarity measure were illustrated and proved. Obtained measures were applied to the calculating process and discussed. Extension of data quantification results such as decision making and fuzzy game theory were also discussed.

  • Various data analysis methods used for customer type analysis are very important for game companies to understand their type and characteristics in an attempt to plan customized content for our customers and to provide more convenient services. In this paper, we propose a k-mode cluster analysis algorithm that uses information uncertainty by extending information entropy to reduce information loss. Therefore, the measurement of the similarity of attributes is considered in two aspects. One is to measure the uncertainty between each attribute on the center of each partition and the other is to measure the uncertainty about the probability distribution of the uncertainty of each property. In particular, the uncertainty in attributes is taken into account in the non-probabilistic and probabilistic scales because the entropy of the attribute is transformed into probabilistic information to measure the uncertainty. The accuracy of the algorithm is observable to the result of cluster analysis based on the optimal initial value through extensive performance analysis and various indexes.

  • A content-based image retrieval method using color, texture, and shape features is proposed in this paper. A region segmentation technique using PIM(Picture Information Measure) entropy is used for similarity indexing. For segmentation, a color image is first transformed to a gray image and it is divided into n$\times$n non-overlapping blocks. Entropy using PIM is obtained from each block. Adequate variance to perform good segmentation of images in the database is obtained heuristically. As variance increases up to some bound, objects within the image can be easily segmented from the background. Therefore, variance is a good indication for adequate image segmentation. For high variance image, the image is segmented into two regions-high and low entropy regions. In high entropy region, hue-saturation-intensity and canny edge histograms are used for image similarity calculation. For image having lower variance is well represented by global texture information. Experiments show that the proposed method displayed similar images at the average of 4th rank for top-10 retrieval case.

  • Recently, the Q-Learning algorithm, which is one kind of reinforcement learning, is mainly used to implement artificial intelligence system in combination with deep learning. Many research is going on to improve the performance of Q-Learning. Therefore, purpose of theory try to improve the performance of Q-Learning algorithm. This Theory apply Cross Entropy Error to the loss function of Q-Learning algorithm. Since the mean squared error used in Q-Learning is difficult to measure the exact error rate, the Cross Entropy Error, known to be highly accurate, is applied to the loss function. Experimental results show that the success rate of the Mean Squared Error used in the existing reinforcement learning was about 12% and the Cross Entropy Error used in the deep learning was about 36%. The success rate was shown.

  • We proposed a novel similarity measure using weighted difference entropy (WDE) to improve the performance of the CF system. The proposed similarity metric evaluates the entropy with a preference score difference between the common rated items of two users, and normalizes it based on the Gaussian, tanh and sigmoid function. We showed significant improvement of experimental results and environments. These experiments involved changing the number of nearest neighborhoods, and we presented experimental results for two data sets with different characteristics, and results for the quality of recommendation.

  • Human beings have been fascinated by the applicability of the medium of photography since the device was first introduced in the thirteenth century to acquire images by attempting primitive and rudimentary approaches. In the 21st century, it has been developed as a wide range of technology that enables not only the application of artistic expression as a method of replacing the human-hand-painted screen but also the planar recording form in the format of video or image. It is more effective to use the information extracted from the image data rather than to use a randomly given file name in order to provide a variety of services in the offline or online system. When extracting an identifier from a region of an image, high cost cannot be avoided. This paper discusses the image entropy-based approach and proposes a linear methodology to measure the image entropy in an effort to devise a solution to this method.
