A Technique for Improving the Quality of Stereo DEM Using Texture Filters

  • One of the most important procedure in stereo DEM generation is the stereo matching process which finds the conjugate pixels in a pair of stereo imagery. In order to be found as conjugate pixels, the pixels should have distinct spatial feature to be distinguished from other pixels. However, in the homogeneous areas such as water covered or forest canopied areas, it is very difficult to find the conjugate pixels due to the lack of distinct spatial feature. Most of erroneous elevation values in the stereo DEM are produced in those homogeneous areas. This paper presents a simple method for improving the quality of stereo DEM utilizing the texture filters. An entropy filter was applied to one of the input stereo imagery to extract very homogeneous areas before stereo matching process. Those extracted homogeneous areas were excluded from being candidates for stereo matching process. Also a statistical texture filter was applied to the generated elevation values before the interpolation process was applied in odor to remove the remaining anomalous elevation values. Stereo pair of SPOT level 1B panchromatic imagery were used for the experiments. The results showed that by utilizing the texture filters as a pre and a post processor of stereo matching process, the quality of the stereo DEM could be dramatically improved.

[4+4] Cyclodimer of tert-Butyl 9-Anthroate and Furan and [4+4] Cyclodimers of Alkyl 9-Anthroate

  • Irradiation of tert-butyl 9-anthroate and furan through a Uranium glass filter gave the [4+4] cyclodimer (21.8%) of tert-butyl 9-anthroate and furan and the 1,4-10',9' cyclodimer (4.2%) of tert-butyl 9-anthroate as well as the 9,10-10',9' cyclodimer (65.7%) of tert-butyl 9-anthroate. The [4+4] cyclodimer of tert-butyl 9-anthroate and furan was found to be thermally dissociated into their unit components with the activation enthalpy of 35.6 kcal/mole and the activation entropy of 7.6 eu, and photochemically dissociated to produce excited tert-butyl 9-anthroate. Quantum yields for the photodissociation to tert-butyl 9-anthroate and the formation of excited tert-butyl 9-anthroate in cyclohexane at room temperature were determined to be 0.56 and 0.19, respectively. The 1,4-10',9' cyclodimer of tert-butyl 9-anthroate in DMF was thermally dissociated into tert-butyl 9-anthroate with the activation enthalpy of 34.8 kcal/mole and the activation entropy of 16.4 eu. Upon irradiation, the [4+4] cyclodimers of tert-butyl 9-anthroate and the [4+4] cyclodimers of methyl 9-anthroate were quantitatively dissociated. However, no adiabatic photoreversion was observed from any of the cyclodimers. Quantum yields for the photodissociation in cyclohexane at room temperature were measured and compared.

Shape Extraction of Near Target Using Opening Operator with Adaptive Structure Element in Infrared hnages (적응적 구조요소를 이용한 열림 연산자에 의한 적외선 영상표적 추출)

  • Near targets in the infrared (IR) images have the steady feature for inner region and the transient feature for the boundary region. Based on these features, this paper proposes a new method to extract the fine target shape of near targets in the IR images. First, we detect the boundary region of the candidate targets using the local variance weighted information entropy (WIE) of the original images. And then, a coarse target region can be estimated based on the labeling of the boundary region. For the coarse target region, we use the opening filter with an adaptive structure element to extract the fine target shape. The decision of the adaptive structure element size is optimized for the width information of target boundary by calculating the average WIE in the enlarged windows. The experimental results show that a proposed method has better extraction performance than the previous threshold algorithms.

Deblocking Filter for Low-complexity Video Decoder (저 복잡도 비디오 복호화기를 위한 디블록킹 필터)

  • This paper presents deblocking filter for low-complexity video decoder. Baseline profile of the H.264/AVC used for mobile devices such as mobile phones has two times higher compression performance than the MPEG-4 Visual but it has a problem of serious complexity as using 1/4-pel interpolation filter, adaptive entropy model and deblocking filter. This paper presents low-complexity deblocking filter for decreasing complexity of decoder with preserving the coding efficiency of the H.264/AVC. In this paper, the proposed low-complexity deblocking filter decreased 49% of branch instruction than conventional approach as calculating value of BS by using the CBP. In addition, a range of filtering of strong filter applied in intra macroblock boundaries was limited to two pixels. According to the experimental results, the proposed low-complexity deblocking filter decreased -0.02% of the BDBitrate comparison with baseline profile of the H.264/AVC, decreased 42% of the complexity of deblocking filter, and decreased 8.96% of the complexity of decoder.

  • In this paper, We compare the Harr wavelet of the S+P transform with various integer coefficient filter banks and apply 9/7 ICFB to the wavelet transform. In addition, we propose a entropy-coding method that exploits the multiresolution structure and the feedback of the prediction error, and can efficiently compress the transformed image for progressive transmission. Simulation results are included to compare to the compression ratio using the S+P transform with different types of images.

Entropy, enthalpy, and gibbs free energy variations of 133Cs via CO2-activated carbon filter and ferric ferrocyanide hybrid composites

  • The addition of ferric ferrocyanide (Prussian blue; PB) to adsorbents could enhance the adsorption performance of 133Cs. Toward this goal, we present a heterogeneously integrated carbonaceous material platform consisting of PB in direct contact with CO2-activated carbon filters (PB-CACF). The resulted sample retains 24.39% more PB than vice versa probed by the ultraviolet-visible spectrometer. We leverage this effect to capture 133Cs in the aqueous environment via the increase in ionic strength and micropores. We note that the amount of PB was likely to be the key factor for 133Cs adsorption compared with specific surface characteristics. The revealed adsorption capacity of PB-CACF was 21.69% higher than the bare support. The adsorption characteristics were feasible and spontaneous. Positive values of 𝜟Ho and 𝜟So show the endothermic nature and increased randomness. Based on the concept of capturing hazardous materials via hazardous materials, our work will be of interest within the relevant academia for collecting radionuclides in a sufficient manner.

Audio Coding Using Adaptive Filter Bank (적응 필터뱅크를 이용한 오디오 부호화)

  • 본 논문은 두 부류의 오디오 원에 대해 각각 다른 구조를 가지는 필터뱅크를 설계 하고 스위칭 기준을 제안한다. 균일한 필터뱅크로는 MDCT 필터뱅크를 사용하고 필터 뱅크 로는 웨이브렛 패킷 필터뱅크를 사용하였으며 오디오 신호의 시변 특성에 기초하여 두 필터 뱅크를 스위칭한다. MDCT 필터뱅크는 정상신호 표현에 적절하지만 급격한 변화를 포함하 는 오디오 신호를 표현하는데는 적절하지 못한다. 따라서, 본 연구에서 사용한 웨이브렛 패 킷 필터뱅크는 인간의 청각 특성을 고려한 임계대역(critical band)과 유사하게 설계하였으며 스위칭 기준엣는 에너지-엔트로피(energy-entropy), 영교차(zero-crossing)법 그리고 차분 (difference)기준을 사용하였다. 입력되는 오디오 신호의 통계적 특성에 기안하여 두 필터뱅 크를 스위칭하는 방식의 오디오 부호화기에 대해서 새로운 스위칭 기준을 제안하였다. 여러 가지 오디오 신호에 대한 주관적 평가(MOS)를 수행한 결과, 기존의 부호화기보다 좋은 성 능을 보였다.

A coding technique for the smoothly perfect 8-connected contours in the spatial domain (공간 영역에서의 평활한 완전 8방향 윤곽선 부호화 기법)

  • In this paper, we introudce the notion of the smoothly perfect 8-conntected (SP8C) contour and describe a coding technique for the SP8C contours. Based on the simplificationusing the majority filter proposed by Gu, SP8C contours are restricted on the contour lattice from the segmented image. By noting thating SP8C contours are restricted to travel in only 3 different directions along the contours, we attempt to encode the SP8C contours using the following two techniques. The one is the neighbouring direction segmentcoding, while the other is to employ the notion of the entropy endoding. Computer simulations reveal that the contours can be efficiently encoded by the two technique.

  • This paper describes a complexity measure algorithm based on nonlinear dynamics(chaos theory). In order to quantify complexity or regularity of biomedical signal, this paper proposed fractal dimension-1 and fractal dimension-2 algorithm with digital filter. Approximate entropy algorithm which measure a system regularity are also compared. In this paper investigate what we quantify of biomedical signal. These quantified complexity measure may be a useful information about human physiology.

  • 본 논문에서는 스팸메일에 나타나는 스팸성 자질과 URL 자질을 이용한 최대엔트로피모델 기반 스팸 필터 시스템을 제안한다. 스팸성 자질은 스패머들이 스팸메일에 인위적으로 넣는 강조 패턴이나 필터 시스템을 통과하기 위해 비정상적으로 변형시킨 단어들을 말한다. 스팸성 자질 외에 반복적으로 나타나는 URL과 비정상적인 Ink도 자질로 사용하였다. 메일 수신자에게 추가적인 정보 제공을 목적으로 하이퍼링크로 연결시키거나 메일에 직접 타이핑한 URL 중 필터 시스템을 피하기 위해 유효하지 알은 비정상적인 URL들이 스팸 메일을 걸러내는데 도움을 줄 수 있기 때문이다. 또한 스팸성 자질과 URL을 각각 적용한 두 분류기를 통합하였다. 분류기의 통합은 각 분류기에 이용된 자질을 독립적으로 사용할 수 있다는 장점을 가지고 있다. 실험 결과를 통해 스팸성 자질과 URL을 이용함으로써 스팸 필터 시스템의 성능을 향상시킬 수 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.
