超音波를 利用한 Dodecyl Pyridinium Chloride 水溶液中의 미셀과 반대이온 사이의 解離-再結合反應의 反應速度論的 硏究 (Kinetic Study using Ultrasonic Technique on the Dissociation-Recombination Reaction between Micelle and Counter-ion in Dodecyl Pyridinium Chloride Solution)

  • 界面活性劑 dodecyl pyridinium chloride 水溶液에서의 超音波吸收를 $20^{\circ}C$, 振動數 0.1${\sim}$90 Mc에서 測定하였다. 超過吸收는 cmc 以上의 濃度에서만 觀測되었다. 超音波超過吸收의 메카니즘은 $M_2\;{\rightleftharpoons}\;M_1\;+\;1.2Cl^-$ 反應에 基因됨을 알았다. 여기서 $M_2,\;M_1$은 다른型의 미셀이다. 정, 逆反應速度常數는 각각 $6.6{\times}10^5 sec^{-1},\;2.7{\times}10^11sec^{-1}mol^{-1.2}$임이 觀測되었다. 自由에너지, 엔탈피, 엔트로피등 몇가지 反應速度論的性質도 算出하였다.

수소재액화를 위한 자기냉매용 HoN 나노분말 합성 및 자기열량효과 연구 (Study on the Synthesis of HoN Nanoparticles and Magnetocaloric Effect as Magnetic Refrigerant for Hydrogen Re-Liquefaction)

  • Rare-earth (RE) nitrides can be used as magnetocaloric materials in low temperature. They exhibit ferromagnetism and have Curie temperature in the region from 6 to 70 K. In this study, Holmium nitride (HoN) nano particles were prepared through plasma arc discharge technique and their magnetocaloric properties were studied. Nitrogen gas ($N_2$) was employed as an active element for arc discharge between two electrodes maintained at a constant current. Also, it played an important role not only as a reducing agent but also as an inevitable source of excited nitrogen molecules and nitrogen ions for the formation of HoN phase. Partial pressure of $N_2$ was systematically varied from 0 to 28,000 Pa in order to obtain single phase of HoN with minimal impurities. Magnetic entropy change (${\Delta}S_m$) was calculated with data set measured by PPMS (Physical Property Measurement System). The as-synthesized HoN particles have shown a magnetic entropy change ${\Delta}S_m$) of 27.5 J/kgK in applied field of 50,000 Oe at 14.2 K thereby demonstrating its ability to be applied as an effective magnetic refrigerant towards the re-liquefaction of hydrogen.

Lower Extremities' Joint Stability during the Elderly Woman's Walking

  • Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the periodicity of the lower extremity joint flexion/extension angle to compare the local stability between young and elderly women during walking on a treadmill. Method: Eighteen young women (mean $age=21.2{\pm}1.6y$; mean $mass=57.1{\pm}6.1kg$; mean $height=1.61{\pm}0.04m$) and 18 elderly women (mean $age=66.4{\pm}1.2y$; mean $mass=55.4{\pm}8.3kg$; mean $height=1.56{\pm}0.04m$) participated in this study. Approximate entropy (ApEn) was used to determine the periodicity in the lower limb joint angles. Results: The ApEn values of the two groups were statistically greater in the surrogate data test than in the original time series data (p<.05). The periodicity of the hip and ankle flexion/extension angles decreased in the elderly women group compared with the young women group (p<.05). The periodicity of the lower extremity joint flexion/extension angle showed that the ankle joint increased dominatingly in both groups (p<.05); the hip joint decreased compared with the knee joint in the young women group; and the knee joint decreased compared with the hip joint in the elderly women group (p<.05). Conclusion: These results suggest that the lower extremity joint flexion/extension angles of the young and elderly women during walking contained random noises as well as biological signals. In addition, the differences in the periodicity in the lower extremity joint between the young and elderly women may provide some insight in predicting potential falls and be used as a characteristic indicator for determining local stability in elderly women during walking.

The Magnetic and Magnetocaloric Properties of the Perovskite La0.7Ca0.3Mn1-xNixO3

  • This paper studies the effects of the Mn-site substitution by nickel on the magnetic properties and the magnetocaloric properties of $La_{0.7}Ca_{0.3}Mn_{1-x}Ni_xO_3$ (x = 0, 0.05 and 0.1). The orthorhombic crystal structures of the samples are confirmed by the room temperature X-ray diffraction. The dependence of the Curie temperature ($T_C$) and the magnetic entropy change (${\Delta}S_M$) on the Ni doping content was investigated. The samples with x = 0 had the first order phase transition, while the samples with x = 0.05 and 0.1 had the second order phase transition. As the concentration of Ni increased, the maximum entropy change (${\mid}{\Delta}S_M{\mid}_{max}$) decreased gradually, from 2.78 $J{\cdot}kg^{-1}{\cdot}K^{-1}$ (x = 0) to 1.02 $J{\cdot}kg^{-1}{\cdot}K^{-1}$ (x = 0.1), in a magnetic field change of 15 kOe. The measured value of $T_C$ was 185 K, 150 K and 145 K for x = 0, 0.05 and 0.1, respectively. The phase transition temperatures became wider as x increased. It indicates that the Mn-site substitution by Ni may be used to tailor the Curie temperature in $La_{0.7}Ca_{0.3}Mn_{1-x}Ni_xO_3$.

보행 시 낙상 유무에 따른 압력중심점의 복잡성 비교 (Complexity Comparison of Center of Pressure between Fallers and Non-fallers during Gait)

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the falls on the center of pressure (CoP) complexity during gait using non-linear approximate entropy (ApEn). Method: 20 elderly women with experience of falling ($age=72.55{\pm}5.42yrs$; $height=154.40{\pm}4.26cm$; $body\;weight=57.40{\pm}6.21kg$; $preferred\;gait\;speed=0.52{\pm}0.17m/s$) and 20 elderly women with no experience of falling ($age=71.90{\pm}2.90yrs$; $height=155.28{\pm}4.73cm$; $body\;weight=56.70{\pm}5.241kg$; $preferred\;gait\;speed=0.56{\pm}0.13m/s$) were recruited for the study. While they were walking at their preferred gait speed on a treadmill (instrumented dual belt treadmills, Bertec, USA) with a force plate CoP data were collected for the 20 strides. The complexity of the CoP was analyzed using the ApEn technique. Results: The ApEn of the medial-lateral CoP in the fallers showed smaller about 16% compared to the non-fallers (p<.05). The ApEn of the antero-posterior CoP of the fallers showed smaller about 12% compared to the non-fallers, but the difference was not statistically significant. Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, the reduction of the medio-lateral CoP complexity in the elderly gait would be an index to determine the potential fall.

Anthocyanins Extracted from Grapes as Green Corrosion Inhibitors for Tin Metal in Citric Acid Solution

  • Cyclic Voltammetry and weight loss measurements were used to investigate corrosion prevention of tin in a 0.5M citric acid solution containing Anthocyanins extracted from grapes at various concentrations and temperatures. Results showed that the investigated chemicals, Anthocyanins extracted from grapes, performed well as tin corrosion inhibitors in 0.5M citric acid. Increasing the concentration of Anthocyanins increased their corrosion inhibition efficiencies. When the temperature dropped, their inhibition efficiencies, increased indicating that higher temperature tin dissolution predominated the adsorption of Anthocyanins at the surface of tin metal. When inhibitor concentrations were increased, their inhibition efficiencies were also increased. These results revealed that corrosion of tin metal was inhibited by a mixed type of adsorption on the metal surface. The adsorption isotherm of Langmuir governed the adsorption of Anthocyanins. Thermodynamic parameters such as the enthalpy of adsorption, the entropy of adsorption, and Gibbs free energy and kinetic parameters such as activation energy, enthalpy of activation, and entropy of activation were computed and discussed in this study.

엔트로피 개념을 이용한 개수로에서 등류 및 부등류 흐름의 전단응력 산정 (The Estimation of Shear Stress in Uniform and Nonuniform Flow by the Entropy Concept)

  • 전단응력은 여러 분야에서 사용하는 매우 중요한 역학 인자 중 하나이며, 인공수로의 설계를 위해서 중요하다. 현재 전단응력은 과거에 정해진 계산법을 사용하고 있지만, 사용되는 식에서 바닥전단응력과 에너지경사와 같이 실제로 측정하거나 계산하기 어려운 요소들이 존재한다. 특히, 에너지경사는 산정하기 매우 어려운 인자이며, 전단응력분포를 구하기위해서는 에너지경사가 있어야만 산정할 수 있지만, 경계층의 유속기울기와 유속을 측정하는 것은 현실적으로 어려운 부분이다. 또한 전단응력분포 중 바닥전단응력은 직접 측정하기 매우 어렵고, 유속에 비해 연구가 다소 더딘 실정이다. 전단응력분포를 정확하게 산정할 수 있다면, 바닥전단응력과 에너지경사를 손쉽게 산정할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 에너지경사를 반영하지 않고 엔트로피 M을 이용하여 평균유속과 전단응력분포를 간단히 산정하는 연구를 진행하였고, 적용한 식의 효용성을 증명하기 위해 기존의 실험실 실측 자료를 사용하였다. 이는 그래프를 통해 응력분포를 나타내어 비교분석을 하였으며, 등류와 부등류에서 각각 결정계수는 0.930-0.998까지로 거의 일치하였다.

Lanthanides-L-proline 착물의 형성에 관한 열역학적 연구 (Thermodynamic Parameters of Complexation of Lanthanides by L-proline)

  • 수용액내에서 란탄족 금속(III)이온과 광학 활성을 지닌 L-proline간의 안정도 상수(1:1)값들을 pH 적정 방법을 사용하여 이온강도 0.1M $NaClO_4$, 25$^{\circ}C$ 조건에서 구하였다. 안정도 상수값은 경란탄족과 중란탄족 금속 사이에 "gadolinium break" 현상을 나타내었으며, 리간드 산도와 안정도 상수값의 관계로 부터 L-proline이 두자리 리간드로 작용함을 알 수 있었다. 열역학적 함수값(${\Delta}H$, ${\Delta}S$)들을 같은 조건에서 엔탈피 적정 방법으로 구하였다. lanthanide(III)-L-proline 착물 형성은 흡열 반응 및 큰 엔트로피 변화량(${\Delta}S$)을 나타내었으며 엔트로피 변화량은 L-proline 고리의 견고성으로 인해 과량의 탈수 효과에 의한 것으로 판단되었다. lanthanide(III)-anthranilate 착물 형성의 열역학적 함수값과 비교하여 본 결과, L-proline의 헤테로 고리 질소 원자와 카르복실기가 결합에 참여하여 킬레이트를 형성하였으며, anthranilate와 L-proline착물의 엔탈피 변화량(${\Delta}H$) 차이는 두 리간드 내에 존재하는 질소 원자의 염기도 차이에 의한 것으로 판단되었다.

만성질환 이환율을 이용한 여자노인의 체질량지수에 대한 아시아-태평양지역 기준과 Entropy모델 기준 비교 (A Comparison between Asia-Pacific Region Criteria and Entropy Model Criteria about Body Mass Index of Elderly Females Using Morbidity of Chronic Disease)

  • Objectives: This study was conducted to propose the need of re-establishing the criteria of the body weight classification in the elderly. We compared the Asia-Pacific Region Criteria (APR-C) with Entropy Model Criteria (ENT-C) using Morbidity rate of chronic diseases which correlates significantly with Body Mass Index (BMI). Methods: Subjects were 886 elderly female participating in the 2007-2009 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES). We compared APR-C with those of ENT-C using Receiver Operating Characteristics (ROC) curve and logistic regression analysis. Results: In the case of the morbidity of hypertension, the results were as follows: Where it was in the T-off point of APR-C, sensitivity was 67.5%, specificity was 43.1%, and Youden's index was 10.6. While in the cut-off point of ENT-C, it was 56.7%, 56.6%, and 13.3 respectively. In the case of the morbidity of diabetes, the results were as follows: In the cut-off point of APR-C, Youden's index was 14.2. While in the cut-off point of ENT-C, it was 17.2 respectively. The Area Under the ROC Curve (AUC) of the subjects who had more than 2 diseases among hypertension, diabetes, and dyslipidemia was 0.615 (95% CI: 0.578-0.652). Compared to the normal group, the odds ratio of the hypertension group which will belong to the overweight or obesity was 1.79 (95% CI: 1.30-2.47) in the APR-C, and 2.04 (95% CI: 1.49-2.80) in the ENT-C (p < 0.001). Conclusions: We conclude that the optimal cut-off point of BMI to distinguish between normal weight and overweight was $24kg/m^2$ (ENT-C) rather than $23kg/m^2$ (APR-C).

엔트로피 개념을 활용한 개수로 마찰속도 산정 (The Estimation of Friction Velocity in an Open Channel by the Entropy Concept)

  • 수공구조물 설계 또는 하상의 유동 특징을 나타내기 위해선 마찰속도 산정이 필수적이다. 하지만 기존의 개수로 내의 마찰속도 공식인 Log 방법이나 Power방법은 벽면 근처에서 경계층 조건 혹은 다양한 수리적 특성이 지속적으로 변화하기 때문에 마찰속도의 산정에 어려움이 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 매개변수를 최소화하고 오차를 줄일 수 있는 새로운 마찰속도 공식을 제안하였다. 제안한 공식에 대한 신뢰성과 정확성을 검증하기 위하여 엔트로피매개변수M을 각각의 수로마다 산정을 하여 Dr.Song이 산정한 3가지 방법(Clauser 방법, $\sqrt{gRI}$ 방법, 레이놀즈 응력법)으로 산정한 마찰속도와 비교하였다. 그 결과 가속부등류 조건의 경우 $R^2=0.9621$ 감속부등류 조건의 경우 $R^2=0.9274$ 등류흐름 조건의 경우 $R^2=0.8865$로 매우 높은 정확성으로 등류조건뿐만 아니라 부등류 조건에서도 거의 일치하였다.
