통영연안 표층퇴적물에서의 유기물과 미량금속 분포 특성 및 생태위해성 평가 (Distribution of Organic Matter and Trace Metals in Surface Sediments and Ecological Risk Assessment in the Tongyeong Coast)

  • 본 연구는 통영연안의 오염 현황을 파악하기 위하여 표층퇴적물의 유기물 분포 특성, 미량금속의 공간적인 분포 특성과 오염도 및 생태계 위해성평가를 하였다. 총질소(Total nitrogen, TN), 총유기탄소(Total organic carbon, TOC)와 산 휘발성 황화물(Acid volatile sulfide, AVS)은 협수로에 위치한 정점 35-38에서 높은 농도를 나타내었다. Cd, Cr, Ni, Co, Hg, Zn의 공간적 분포양상은 유사하였으며, 이와 달리 Cu는 협수로에서 높은 농도를 나타내었다. 미량금속 원소의 오염도를 농축계수(Enrichment Factor, EF)로 평가한 결과, Cd이 모든 정점에서 오염되지 않은 상태(No enrichment), Pb, Cr, Ni, Co, Zn, Hg이 약간 오염상태(Minor enrichment), Cu가 약간~중간 오염상태(minor-moderate enrichment)의 오염도를 나타냈다. 미량금속에 의한 생태위해성 수준은 오비도와 미륵도 사이의 협수로 정점에서 국지적으로 생태계에 잠재적 위해성이 있는 것으로 나타났다.

VACES을 이용한 대기 중 입자상물질의 농축기술 및 특성 연구 (Characteristics of Aerosol Particle Concentration by the Versatile Aerosol Concentration Enrichment System (VACES))

  • The versatile aerosol concentration enrichment system (VACES) have proven useful for providing elevated levels of atmospheric aerosol to human and animal exposures. In this study, we describe a VACES and tests conducted to both optimize the enhancement factor (EF) and characterize how it depends on experiment conditions. Particle number concentrations were measured from upstream and downstream of the system by scanning mobility particle sizer (SMPS) with a long differential mobility analyzer (DMA) in combination with a condensation particle counter (CPC). SMPS was used for to determine VACES particle EF. Particle EF tends to increase for higher the saturator temperature ($T_{Sat}$) and lower the condenser temperature ($T_{Con}$). $T_{Con}$ higher than $0^{\circ}C$ and $T_{Sat}$ lower than $50^{\circ}C$ was the best to obtain the most increase in particle concentration. Correlation analysis of EF with factor variables of $T_{Sat}$ and $T_{Con}$ resulted in correlation 0.662 and 0.416, respectively. With all five predictor variables included in a multiple regression model, the EF had a liner correlation with $R^2=0.643$.

광안대교 인근 퇴적토 중의 중금속 농도 및 오염도 조사 연구 (Distribution and Pollution Assessment of Heavy Metals in Surface Sediments Near Gwangan Bridge)

  • 본 연구는 광안대교 인근의 해저퇴적토에 포함된 중금속을 분석하여 퇴적토의 오염도를 평가하고자 하였다. 오염도 평가를 위해 Enrichment Factor(EF), Geoaccumulation index, Potential ecological risk factor(PERF), mean PEL quotient와 같은 평가방법을 사용하였다. 각 평가방법에 따라 대상 지역의 중금속 오염 정도를 확인하였고 이를 종합적으로 고려하여 어떤 지역에서 어떤 중금속이 문제가 되는지를 확인하였다. Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb, Zn의 경우 전 지역에서 비오염 혹은 영향없음으로 판별되었으나(EF<1) Cd의 경우에는 모든 지역에서 외부영향으로 인한 농도증가 양상을 보여주었다(1$I_{geo}$에 의한 평가에서는 Cd의 경우 G4에서 다소 오염으로 분류되었으나 다른 지역에서는 모두 비오염으로 평가되었다. 각 평가방법에 의한 결과를 요약하면 Cd의 경우 전 지역에서 높게 검출되었고 지역별로는 G4와 G5 지역에서 Cd를 비롯하여 Pb와 Zn의 농도가 다른 지역보다 다소 높은 것으로 확인되었다.

지화학적 평가기법을 이용한 전남 서해 도서갯벌 퇴적물내 중금속 오염도 평가 (Evaluation of Heavy Metal Contamination in Intertidal Surface Sediments of Coastal Islands in the Western Part of Jeollanam Province Using Geochemical Assessment Techniques)

  • We measured grain size, organic matter, and metallic elements (Fe, Cu, Pb, Zn, Cd, Cr, Mn, Hg, and As) in intertidal sediments collected from six islands in the western part of Jellanam Province in order to evaluate heavy metal contamination in the tidal flat sediments of coastal islands. The evaluation of metal contamination was carried out using geochemical assessment techniques such as sediment quality guidelines (SQGs), enrichment factor (EF), and geoaccumulation index ($I_{geo}$). Surface sediments were classified into four sedimentary facies: sand, gravelly muddy sand, slightly gravelly mud, and silt. The concentrations of heavy metals in intertidal sediments from Jaeun, Amtae, Biguem, and Docho islands showed good positive correlations with mean grain size and ignition loss, indicating that the concentrations of metallic elements in these sediments were dependent on grain size and the organic matter content. The concentrations of heavy metals in sediments from almost all of the stations were lower than two criterion values proposed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in the United States. Based on the EF and $I_{geo}$ results, surface sediments were a little polluted for Cr and were moderately polluted for As. Our results suggest that more intensive studies are necessary in the future in order to determine the major source of As in intertidal sediment and to evaluate the As pollution level in macrobenthos.

탐진강 및 도암만 지역 퇴적물의 퇴적지구화학적 특성과 환경영향 (Sedimentary Geochemical Characteristics and Environmental Impact of Sediments in Tamjin River and Doam Bay)

  • To examine the sedimentary geochemical characteristics of sediment in the Tamjin River and Doam bay, the analysis was conducted, using the sample obtained in February 2000, on the grain size and the contents of metallic elements and organic carbon. The factors that influence the geochemical behavior of metallic elements in the surface sediment are grain size, organism, surrounding soil and $CaCO_3$. To find out the pollution level of metallic elements, the enrichment factor (EF) and the index of geoaccumulation ($I_{geo}$) were researched. The majority of metallic elements sustain their values in natural state. The elements such as K, Ba, Zr, etc. appear to be rich in some places. The EF and $I_{geo}$ of P, Cu, Zn, and Pb, which belong to toxic heavy metals, are partly related with man-made pollution. P and Cu have a high EF, Pb has a high $I_{geo}$ and Zn is high in both EF and $I_{geo}$. The low contents of P and Cu are not likely to be related with the pollution of water environment. However, given the development of relative pollution, the research and the management regarding the pollutants are needed. Because Pb, naturally enriched by geological characteristics, has a large influence on water environment along with Zn, the adequate measures against man-made pollution should be worked out.

2001년 봄철 서울시 북동부지점에서 관측한 중금속성분의 농도분포 (The Metallic Composition of PM2.5 and PM10 in a Northeast Region of Seoul During the Spring 2001)

  • 본 연구는 서울시 북동지역의 군자동에 위치한 세종대학교를 중심으로 2001년 봄철 3월에서 4월까지 PM2.5와 PM10을 채취하여, 이들과 결합된 중금속 성분들에 대한 농도분포의 특성을 살펴보았다. 전체 관측기간 동안 산출된 PM2.5, PM10, 조대입자 영역(PM10-PM2.5)의 평균농도는 49.3${\pm}$29.2, 95.5${\pm}$46.1, 50.5${\pm}$35.0 ${\mu}g$/m$^3$으로 나타났다. 연구대상지역의 중금속 오염도를 살펴보기 위해 부화계수(enrichment factor: EF)를 비교한 결과, 미세 및 조대입자 모두에서 Zn, V, Cr, Pb, Cu, Ni, Co, Mo 등의 중금속 성분들의 EF값이 수십, 수백의 범위에 달할 정도로 오염의 수준이 심각하다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 미세/조대입자 영역간에 형성되는 농도비를 비교한 결과, Zn, Cr, Pb, Ni 등이 미세입자 영역에서 뚜렷하게 더 높은 농도를 보이는 것으로 확인되었다. 중금속 농도에 대해 보다 세부적인 분석을 실시한 결과, 중금속 성분들의 농도는 상당 수준 증가하는데, 이와 같은 증가는 황사의 영향을 상당 수준 받는 것으로 나타났다.

  • 본 논고에서는 석탄의 화학조성, 입도 및 광물질 종류들에 따라 중금속 선분들의 고온 거동을 해석하여 대규모 석탄화력발전소의 중금속화합물 배출규제기준결정과 관련된 기초자료를 제공하고자 시도하였다. 먼저 , Sb. Ca, Pb, Ni, As, Cr, Mg, Se, Be Co, Hg,Mn, Cd Ti, Zn 등 원소들의 휘발성을 석탄에 포함된 광물질의 고온거동을 조사하여 분석한 결과 중금속물질 배출정도는 광물질들의 고온상 기체/고체 분포 여부 및 광물질들의 고온에서의 변이 과정과 밀접한 관계가있는 것으로 인식되었다. 또한 , 반응후 중금속물질들의 비산재와 슬랙에의 존재분포를 입도별로 해석하였으며, 그 결과는 EF enrichment factor를 이용하여 해석하였다.

상류수계 영산강 하상퇴적물의 지화학적 특성과 오염 (Geochemical Characteristics and Contamination of Surface Sediments in Upper Yeongsan River System)

  • In order to investigate the geochemical characteristics of surface sediments in streams of upper Yeongsan River drainage system, sediment samples from the main stream of Yeongsan river, Hwangryong river, Gwangju and Jiseok streams were collected and analyzed for grain size and metal and organic carbon contents. The metal contents in the sediments are mainly dependent on organic matter contents in the domestic sewage, grain size of the sediments and geology around the streams. Enrichment factor (EF) and index of geoaccumulation (Igeo) representing the degree of metal contamination in the sediments are relatively low in the main stream of Yeongsan river main stream, Hwangryong river and Jiseok stream. However, those of Gwangju stream show the EF maximum values of P=8.30, Cu=5.55, Zn=14.29 and Pb=7.45 and the Igeo maximum values of P=3.58, Cu=4.43, Zn=3.22 and Pb=1.59.

압해도 조간대 표층퇴적물의 유기물 및 금속원소 오염도 평가 (Assessment of the Pollution Levels of Organic Matter and Metallic Elements in the Intertidal Surface Sediments of Aphae Island)

  • We evaluated the pollution levels of organic matter and metallic element (Fe, Cu, Pb, Zn, Cd, Ni, Cr, Mn, As, and Hg) in the intertidal surface sediments of Aphae Island using several sediment quality guidelines (SQGs) and assessment techniques for sediment pollution. Based on the textural composition of sediment, the surface sediments were classified into two main sedimentary facies: slightly gravelly mud and silt. The concentrations of chemical oxygen demand (COD) and acid volatile sulfide (AVS) in the sediments ranged from 4.6-9.9 (mean $7.4{\pm}1.1$) $mgO_2/g{\cdot}dry$ and from ND-0.53 (mean $0.04{\pm}0.10$) mgS/$g{\cdot}dry$, respectively. These values were considerably lower than those reported from a farming area in a semi-enclosed bay of Korea and for SQGs in Japan. The metallic element concentrations in the sediments varied widely with the mean grain size and organic matter content, implying that the concentrations of metallic elements are influenced mainly by secondary factors, such as bioturbation, the resuspension of sediment, and anthropogenic input. The overall results for the comparison with SQGs, enrichment factor (EF), and geoaccumulation index ($I_{geo}$) indicate that the surface sediments are slightly polluted by Cr and Ni, and moderately polluted by As. Our results suggest that the intertidal surface sediments of Aphae Island are not polluted by organic matter or metallic elements and the benthic conditions are suitable for healthy organisms.

토지이용실태에 따른 하남산업단지 토양오염물질 분포 특성에 관한 연구 (Distribution Characteristics of Soil Contaminants in Hanam Industrial Complex, Gwangju by land use)

  • Soil contamination survey was conducted during March - July, 2017 to obtain soil contamination profile of 16 organic and inorganic contaminants in Hanam industrial complex located in Gwangju, Korea. The concentrations of all surveyed contaminants except Cd showed were within 0.3~1.5 times of their natural background levels. Cd showed concentrations as high as 6.9 times of the background level, signifying the influence of the metal processing facilities in the complex. The concentrations of Zn, Pb and Hg in areas nearby industrial facilities were 1.3~5.5 times higher than those within the facility and green area. The concentration of Cu in the green area was 1.4~2.9 times higher than in other areas. The Soil Pollution Index (SPI) analysis revealed 54% of the total area belong to first-grade soil, 43% to second-grade, and 3% to third-grade. The Enrichment Factor (EF) of Zn, Pb, and Cd were 9.2, 15.6, and 88.5, respectively, indicating high accumulation and contamination of the soil with Cd.
