Study on Recognitions of Department of Technology Education Professors Introducing 'Creative Engineering Design' Unit of Highschool Technology.Home Economics (고등학교 기술.가정 교과 '창의공학설계' 단원 신설에 따른 기술교육과 교수의 인식 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to provide a basis information for the education direction of 'creative engineering design' lesson to highschool students and pre-technology teachers by analyzing pre-experienced the d epartment of technology professors' recognitions, according to the newly opened unit 'creative engineering design' in 2009 revised highschool technology home economics education curriculum. The survey questionnaire was composed of 34 questions and collected from 16 department of technology education professors. The data was analyzed by SPSS program. The results of study were as follows : First, in 'creative engineering design' educational objectives, the highest average level(M) of response was problem solving ability, the opportunity of engineering experience and creativity improvement were followed. In the response about 'creative engineering design' educational contents, the average level(M) of the creative thinking method education was the highest(3.94). and the following important level was the write training education for presentation. Second, in the 'creative engineering design' educational areas, the professors preferred the idea conception, design, and production manufacturing area. In the teaching learning method, the average level(M) of design-based learning method was the first. and PBL, problem solving method were favored Third, in the 'creative engineering design' lesson manage, the secure of practice room and material cost, and the check of the progress situations were needed preferentially. In the education assessments, various and combined assessment preferred such as production, portfolio, and presentation. Fourth, in the pre-technology teachers' lesson of the university course, the product manufacturing level was preferred production to improve uncomfortable thing in life. The major difficulty in product manufacturing was the lack of major knowledge and product conception.

  • With the curriculum revision by the ministry of education in 2015, informatics was required to be included in the secondary high school curriculum, and applied to elementary and high schools in order. In response to this trend, universities are also emphasizing programming education. Arduino is one of the famous tools for programming education, and the usefulness of it has been proven through various case studies. However, existing Arduino-based kits are not easy to use with limited hardware knowledge. It is also difficult to expand the kits in a way other than that given in the original design. In this paper, proposed is a new kit design that can solve the problems mentioned above. The proposed design is superior to existing ones in usability and scalability, and can be used in various ways according to the amount of prior knowledge. The proposed design is registered as a patent and development of a kit based on it is underway.

  • Because of the junior college students' learning ability stands on a relatively low level, this research is accomplished to inspire students with further desires, considering students' learning ability and desire. The curriculum of junior college is organized with three parts(electronic communication tool, micro processer, integrated circuit design): the electronic communication tool and micro processer is carried out, and the training for the design skill on semiconductor devices will be focused. The main focus is reflected on the worldwide trend on the design engineering of semiconductor devices and considered for the market establishment on design engineers trained by the lab-oriented practice as well as fundamental of semiconductor technology.

  • Semiconductor technology includes from semiconductor materials, design, fabrication, handling of process equipments, reliability test to packaged semiconductor devices. Our departmental curriculum is organized with 2-years/6-quarters system of Ulsan College: the understanding for the fundamental of semiconductor is carried out in the first academic year and the training for the design skill on semiconductor devices will be focused in the second academic year. The main focus is reflected on the worldwide trend on the design engineering of semiconductor devices and considered for the market establishment on design engineers trained by the lab-oriented practice as well as the fundamental of semiconductor technology.

  • KEPCO International Nuclear Graduate School (KINGS) is dedicated to nurturing leadership-level professionals in nuclear power plant (NPP) engineering. KINGS have designed curriculum based on two philosophies. First, we balance aspects of discipline engineering, specialty engineering, and management engineering in the framework of systems engineering. Second, KINGS have designed the curriculum so that students can learn and experience the know-what, know-how and know-why level knowledge of NPP engineering and management. The specialization programs are opened during the 2nd year for 3 trimesters and those are a process of learning through practical project courses. The objectives of the specialization programs are to help students to learn the NPP life cycle technologies in highly structured and systematic ways. The systems engineer program (SEP) is one of the specialization programs. A practical case of the SEP which was applied to the project course for the NPP electric power system design education will be elaborated in this paper.

The Needs of Students and Practitioners on the Education Curriculum of Innovative Product Development (혁신제품개발 교육과정에 대한 학생과 산업체 실무자의 요구사항 분석)

  • Companies have been making considerable efforts to develop innovative products for better competitiveness in the market, however, the education curriculum for innovative product development (IPD) in domestic universities needs has not been well developed. The present study was intended to identify the needs of students and practitioners regarding teaching subjects, pedagogical methods, and industry-academia collaboration that can be reflected in the development of IPD education curriculum. Through a literature survey 46 IPD teaching subjects of 7 categories (planning, feasibility analysis, concept development, product design, manufacturing process design, production, and ethics & law) were selected. Opinions on the preferences and importances of the teaching subjects, pedagogical methods, and industry-academia collaboration were collected from 53 college students who took courses of product development and 36 practitioners working in product development. While the students preferred the balanced teaching of all the subject categories, the practitioners suggested planning and concept development be taught with high importance; 6 subjects (product development strategy, customer needs identification, market research, concept generation method, design ideation method, and ergonomic design) received high ratings of preference and importance. The students preferred the mix of various pedagogical methods (lecture, discussion, presentation, practice, and case study) and provided needs on each pedagogical method. Lastly, the students wanted an opportunity of learning through industry-academia collaboration and the practitioners provided ideas for mutual benefits between industry and academia. The needs of students and practitioners identified in the study can be effectively applied to develop a better IPD education curriculum.

SCA Advice System: Ontology Framework for a Computer Curricula Advice System Based on Student Behavior

  • This study proposed an SCA advice system. It is an ontology-based recommender that provides advice on appropriate computer curricula based on the behavior of high school students. The three computer curricula at Chiang Mai Rajabhat University include computer science (CS), information technology (IT), and web programming and security (WEB). This study aims to design the ontology framework for an SCA advice system. The system considers three core ontologies: student, computer-curriculum, and advice. After analyzing student behaviors, the behavior types of CS, IT, and WEB were determined to be SB-2, SB-1, and SB-5, respectively. All subjects in these three curricula were analyzed and grouped into seven groups. Their curricula were synthesized in terms of basic skills, basic knowledge, and characteristics. Finally, advice results can be obtained by consolidating the curriculum nature of the CS, IT, and WEB curricula.

  • In this study, we examined the satisfaction level of J university's compulsory liberal arts subject with quantitative research. The results quantitative research are as follows. First, men are more interested in creative thinking, college life guidance and career path design than girls. Second, the level of satisfaction with the required liberal arts subject by grade was found to be without a statistical significant difference. Third, the satisfaction level of each line of learning was shown in the order of natural engineering, health and welfare, physical fitness, and humanities. The satisfaction level of the lines of learning was found to vary. Fourth, The satisfaction level of each campus was found to vary. The results of this study could be used as basic data to improve the college liberal arts curriculum, especially the compulsory liberal arts curriculum.   • This study includes the possibility of organizing courses that can accommodate both NCS-based and course-based qualifications program in terms of contracting departments operating a college-based work and study in parallel system, examining and comparing differences between the two qualifications. Based on the case study of mechanical design engineer based on the job of machine design, curriculum that meets both composition regulation is developed. The author predicts future operational differences and problems and suggests several ways to overcome them. In conclusion, a few words have been added to modify the composition regulations to help the professional educational institute that simultaneously operates a work parallel system and a course evaluation type as to develop the field-oriented curriculum minimizing the gap between provider-centered education and consumer-centered qualifications, and maximizing the performance of training and education.

Analysis and Improvement on the College Convergence Education with Game Departments (국내대학 게임학과의 융합교육 현황과 개선방안)

  • Game industry demands for talented workers from game scenario writing, graphic design and computer game programming areas, which are the three heterogeneous parts of computer game making. This paper deals with the analysis on the college convergence education, surveying the curriculums of game departments in Korean universities and with how to proceed for game programmers to the direction of convergence education for computer game making. Most of the game departments are focusing on game programming area, whereas only 2 departments among 14 surveyed are teaching the game graphic design topics. Observing the curriculum changes for sampled game departments reveals that around 30% of the majoring classes are directly game related. Game programmers are to be advised to fulfill their programming skill first and later expand their ability to game graphic design skill.
