This paper's aim is to do a global evaluation (considering four dimensions: technical-economic, environmental, social and political) in the ways of natural gas transportation (gas pipelines, GNL and GTL) and electric transmission, in order to supply the energy demands of Mato Grosso do Sul, a brazilian state. The transport ways had been compared between itself using a software of decision taking (Decision Lens Suite), which determined a better way for transporting natural gas in this case. In a generalized manner the gas pipeline is the best way of transporting natural gas, therefore it takes advantage in the majority of the analyzed dimensions.
Considering the fact that more than $97\%$ of fossil energy resources such as oil and natural gas needed in Korea rely on import, primary concern of the national economy is to secure future energy sources. Gas hydrates. which is non-conventional types of natural gas, distribute worldwide, especially in marine and permafrost Gas hydrates draw great attention recently as a new clean energy resources substituting conventional oil gas due to its presumed huge amount of volume reaching 10 trillion tons of gas and environmentally friendly characteristics. Results of preliminary survey by Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS) and Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources (KIGAM) showed that gas hydrates can be present in deep sea over 1,000m water depth in the East Sea. Gas hydrates can contribute to the rapidly increasing consumption of natural gas in Korea and achieve the self-support target by 2010 with $30\%$ of total natural gas demand. This study presents the potentialities and development prospects of gas hydrate as a future energy source.
Hydrox gas which is the mixed gas of hydrogen and oxygen gained fromwater electrolysis is one of the new clean energy sources and thus is researched and commercialized actively. Especially, it can be replaced the fossil energy and shows the better quality compared to the conventional energy such as LPG or acetylene gas. The mixed gas of hydrogen and oxygen is gained from water electrolysis reaction. It has constant volume ratio 2:1 of hydrogen and oxygen, and it is used as a source of thermal energy by combustion reaction. Further, hydrox gas is nearly a mixed ideal gas combusting itself completely and its combustion shows anunique characteristics of implosion. In this study, temperature rise effects on hydrox gas content through mixed combustion test of kerosene and hydrox gas and LPG and hydrox gas are investigated. it is also confirmed that economy of mixed combustion of hydrox gas as effective energy is fairly probable.
This paper presents a basic energy performance data of micro gas turbine, Renewable Energy(BIPV and Solar Collector System, geothermal system) and a hybrid energy system(geothermal system and microturbine) installed in Hospital Building. The efficiency of solar collector and BIPV system was 30%, 10% individually, and lower than micro gas turbines. Micro gas turbines are small gas turbines that bum gaseous and liquid fuels to produce a high-energy exhaust gas and to generate the electrical power. Recently, the size range for micro gas turbines is form 30 to 500kW and power-only generation or in combined heat and power(CHP) systems. Finally, in energy performance aspect, Micro gas turbine system and hybrid energy system were high-efficiency system in hospital building. Hybrid energy system also give us a powerful alternative energy system economically.
Hydrogen is considered to be the most important future energy carrier in many applications reducing greenhouse gas emissions significantly. To be applicable as energy carrier the safety issues associated with hydrogen applications needs to be investigated and fully understood. In order to analyze the risks associated with hydrogen applications, accidents associated with hydrogen in Korea from 1963 to 2002 have been analysed in this work. From analysis of accidents, we propose the necessity of research on hydrogen releases, dispersion in air, and explosion due to high hazardous of hydrogen.
In the energy consumption of buildings in Korea, the housing sector accounts for 53% of a total energy consumption. Although the researches of energy consumption on the new detached houses and apartment houses have been conducted numerous times, the researches of energy consumption characteristics on the existing detached houses are lack of studies. Thus in this study, the actual condition of energy consumption characteristics on the existing detached houses in Daegu city was examined, and then energy consumption unit and green house gas emission unit was compiled to present a fundamental data for an effective way of reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emission in the buildings. The results showed that the energy consumption for heating in the existing detached house was greater than other energy consumption and the heating energy sources were city gas and fuel oil. As the fuel oil consumption got larger, the energy consumption unit and greenhouse gas emission unit became bigger. Based on these results, it will be able to develop a plan for reducing energy and greenhouse gas emission in the existing detached houses in the future.
The natural gas dehydration process plays a central role in liquefying LNG. This study proposes two natural gas dehydration process systems applicable to liquefied natural gas (LNG) liquefaction plants, and compares and analyzes energy optimization measures through simulation. The fuel gas from feed stream (FFF) case, which requires additional equipment for gas circulation, disadvantages are design capacity and increased energy. On the other hand, the end flash gas (EFG) case has advantages such as low initial investment costs and no need for compressors, but has downsides such as increased power energy and the use of gas with different components. According to the process simulation results, the required energy is 33.22 MW for the FFF case and 32.86 MW for the EFG case, confirming 1.1% energy savings per unit time in the EFG case. Therefore, in terms of design pressure, capacity, device configuration, and required energy, the EFG case is relatively advantageous. However, further research is needed on the impact of changes in the composition of regenerated gas on the liquefaction process and the fuel gas system.
Unconventional natural gas resources are now estimated to be as large as conventional resources. Unconventional natural gas has became an increasingly important source of energy in the world since the start of this century. The factors that drive natural gas demand and supply point more and more to a future in which natural gas plays greater role in the global energy mix. The expansion of using natural gas will be expected in Korea. This research aims to analyze environmental impacts of expansion of unconventional natural gas. This research was carried out for comparative analysis between global energy mix and Korea energy mix, and developed a case that reflect the changed energy mix due to the expansion of unconventional natural gas in Korea. Also this research evaluate the production of air pollutants and the cost of the damage in power generation sector. The results of this research can be summarized as that natural gas portion of future global energy mix (about 25%) is greater than Korea energy mix (about 12%). This research developed a case that replace 10% energy of power generation sector to natural gas in the 6th demand supply program, reflecting the changed energy mix due to the expansion of natural gas use. In that case, air pollutants would be reduced gradually through 2015 to 2027. In detail, carbon dioxide reduces 22 million tons and environmental damage cost reduces 4500 billion won by 2027.
The characteristics of hydrogen-oxygen mixture gas generation stack was experimentally studied in terms of efficiency. For this purpose, the mixture gas generation stack was fabricated by connecting 7 cells in series following the Tero Ranta report. In order to avoid the instrument inaccuracy, all measuring equipments were re-tested and calibrated by Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (KOLAS) certified laboratories. Since the amount of produced gas is most crucial in determining the efficiency, two gas collecting methods such as bottle trap method and wet gas meter method were adopted. From the experimental results, it was found that both KOH fume and steam evaporated along with hydrogen-oxygen mixture gas, and these by-product gases could cause the misestimation of the stack efficiency. The current, voltage, and energy efficiencies of the hydrogen-oxygen mixture gas generation stack was evaluated based upon the stack efficiency calculation method summarized in this work.

If micro gas turbine was operated only for electric energy, the efficiency was about 30%, but for combined heat and power, the efficiency was about 90%. Finally, installed in large hospital, Micro gas turbine system was operated to CHP mode, was high-efficiency system than Solar collector and BIPV system.
