엔드밀의 경사각에 따른 특성 연구 (A Study of Characteristic According to Rake Angel of Endmill)

  • Endmill is one of the most important cutting tool, not only for machining of mold and die, but also for manufacturing of car industrial. Futhermore with spindle speeds on the increase and machined-surface quality aspiring to higher levels. The purpose of this study is an analysis of endmill's rake angle for appropriate tools design and making for the high speed machining. In this study, Experimental works are also executed to measure shape of endmills, cutting force, on different shape of endmills. Finally, To get concept of endmill design, Tool life was experimented on various design of tool from this study.

노우즈반경에 따른 엔드밀의 가공특성 및 절삭시간의 비교 (Comparison of precision Machinabilities and Cutting Time in Inclined Milling Process)

  • Surface generation model of three types of endmills is introduced to analyse the cutting mechanism of an endmill more accurately. Superposition method is introduced to define the effective cusp including the effects of cutter mark. Through the comparison of three endmills, it is shown that the ball-nose endmill is superior to the ball endmill and the flat endmill for inclined milling process in 3-or 5-axis machining modes. By using the objective function minimizing the machining time, appropriate nose radius is selected for various cutter radiuses and cutter inclination angles.

  • Recently, it has been studied machining of micro parts with increasing demands for ultra precision parts. However, many engineering problems have already begun in polishing of optical parts or lens. As a method to overcome such problems, a new technology for the polishing of the target surface is being studied by controlling abrasives using MR fluids which are sensitive to magnetic fields. Since the current MR polishing system uses a big electromagnet, and is difficult to polish micro parts or spherical lens. Therefore, in this study, a round endmill type MR polishing system was developed to polish a three-dimensional structure which has spherical or inclined plane. And then, series of experiments were performed to verify the polishing performance of the developed round endmill type MR polishing system.

엔드밀을 활용한 홀 가공 시 표면거칠기 예측에 관한 연구 (Prediction of Surface Roughness in Hole Machining Using an Endmill)

  • Helical machining is an efficient method for machining holes using an endmill. In this study, a surface roughness prediction model was constructed for improving the productivity of hole machining. Experiments were conducted to form holes by the helical machining of AL6061-T4 aluminum sheets and correlation analysis was performed to examine the relationships between the variables based on the measured results. Meanwhile, a regression analysis technique was used to construct and evaluate the prediction model. Through these analyses, the parameter which has the greatest influence on the surface roughness when the hole is formed by the helical machining is the feed, followed by the number of revolutions of the endmill. Moreover, for the axial feed of the endmill, it was concluded that the influence of the surface roughness is small compared to the other two parameters but it is a factor worth considering to improve the accuracy when constructing the predictive model.

  • Recently, the advanced industries using micro parts are rapidly growing. Micro endmilling is one of the prominent technology that has wide spectrum of application field ranging from macro to micro parts. Also, the method of micro-grooving using micro endmilling is used widely owing to many merit, but has problems of precision and quality of products due to tool wear and tool fracture. This study deals with condition monitoring using acoustic emission(AE) signal in the micro-grooving. First, the feature extraction of AE signal directly related to machining process is executed. Then, the distinctive micro endmill state according to the each tool condition is classified by using the fuzzy C-means algorithm, which is one of the methods to recognize data patterns. These result is effective monitoring method of micro endmill state by the AE sensing techniques which can be expected to be applicable to micro machining processes in the future.
