CARS 측정 기술을 이용한 스파크 점화 기관에서의 화염 전 화학 반응에 의한 온도 변화에 관한 연구 (A Study of the Temperature Elevation Due to the Pre-flame Reaction in a Spark-Ignition Engine Using CARS Technique)

  • End-gas temperatures were measured using CARS technique in a conventional DOHC spark- ignition engine fueled with PRF80. The measured pressure data were analyzed using band pass filter method. The measured CARS temperatures were compared with adiabatic core temperatures calculated from measured pressures. Significant heating by pre-flame reaction in the end gas zone was observed in the late part of compression stroke under both knocking and non-knocking conditions. CARS temperatures measured at 10 crank angle degree before knock occurrence was higher than adiabatic core temperatures. These results indicate that there exist some exothermic reactions in low pressure and temperature region. CARS temperatures began to be higher than the adiabatic core temperature when the end-gas temperatures reached look. The temperature elevation due to the pre-flame reaction correlated better with CARS temperature than with cylinder pressure.

  • CARS(Coherent anti-Stokes Raman Spectroscopy) temperature measurement under engine-like condition was validated by measuring unburned gas temperatures of premixed propane-air flame in a constant volume combustion chamber. The measured temperatures were compared with predictions of 2 zone flame propagation model. End-gas temperatures were measured were measured by CARS technique in a conventional 4 cylinder DOHC spark-ignition engine fueled with PRF 80. Cylinder pressure was measured simultaneously with CARS signal and used as a parameter on fitting CARS spectrum to library of theoretical spectra. There was a good agreement between the measured temperature and adiabatic core temperature calculated from measured cylinder pressure. Significant heating by pre-flame reaction in the gas was observed in the late part of compression stroke.

Excitation Temperature and Electron Number Density Measured for End-On-View Indectively Coupled Plasma Discharge

  • The excitation temperature and electron number density have been measured for end-on-view ICP discharge. In this work, end-on-view ICP-AES equipped with the newly developed “optical plasma interface (OPI)” was used to eliminate or remove the neg ative effects caused by end-on-plasma source. The axial excitation temperature was measured using analyte (Fe I) emission line data obtained with end-on-view ICP-AES. The axial electron number density was calculated by Saha-Eggert ionization equilibrium theory. In the present study, the effects of forward power, nebulizer gas flow rate and the presence of Na on the excitation temperature and electron number density have been investigated. For sample introduction, two kinds of nebulizers (pneumatic and ultrasonic nebulizer) were utilized.

  • Miniature Joule-Thomson cryocoolers have been widely used for rapid cooling of infrared detectors, probes of cryosurgery, thermal cameras, missile homing head and guidance system, due to their special features of simple configuration, compact structure and rapid cool-down characteristics. The cool-down time, the temperature at the cold end, the running time and the gas consumption are the important indicators of the performance of the J-T cryocooler. In this study, the initial cool-down stages of the J-T cryocooler were investigated by numerical simulations. The results show the effects of the initial charging pressures of gas on the cool-down time and the temperature at the cold end and the gas consumptions.

변형 2색법에 의한 예혼합기 연소의 연소가스온도 측정에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Measurement of Burnet Gas Temperature in Premized Combustion by Modified Two-Color Method)

  • The effects of equivalence ratio and pressure on burnt gas temperature in premixed fuel rich propane-oxygen-inert gas combustion are investigated over the wide ranges of equivalence ration from 1.5 to 2.7 and pressure from 0.1 to 7 MPa by using a specially designed disk -type constant-voume combustion chamber, The premixtures are simultaneously ignited by eight spark plugs located on the circumference of combustion chamber with 45 degree interals. The eight converging flames compress the end gases to high pressures. The burnt gas temperature is meausured by the nmodifie dtow-colr pyrometry method. The transmissivity in the chamber center during the final stage of combustion at the hightest pressure is meausred by in situ laser extinction method. It is found that a temperature difference between the burnt gas temperature measured by mofidied and conventrational two-color method is 10 to 20 K, but the accuracy of the modified two-color methdo is higher if the local transmissivity in observed region is uniform , and the combustion at higher pressures results gas density conditions and the burnt gas temperature increases as the volume fraction of argon is increased because the specific heat of argon is lower compared to that of nitrogen with a constant equivalence ratio.

  • 고압의 가스를 이용하여 고온 가스와 저온 가스를 분리하거나 입자상 물질의 분리에 사용 할 수 있는 장치인 볼텍스 튜브의 에너지 분리 특성을 적용하여 $CO_2$ 흡수를 위한 장치설계의 기본 설계 자료를 구축하기 위하여 전산유체 해석을 수행하였다. 설계를 위한 기초 자료를 확보하기 위하여, 볼텍스 튜브의 길이, 볼텍스 발생기의 오리피스 직경 및 고온 측과 저온 측의 유량비등이 볼텍스 튜브의 성능에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 튜브의 길이가 길어짐에 따라 고온 출구측의 온도는 감소하지만, 저온 출구측의 온도에 미치는 영향은 미미하였다. 볼텍스 발생기의 오리피스 직경이 축소됨에 따라 저온측 온도는 강하하나 고온측 온도의 변화는 미미하였다. 고온 유량비가 증가함에 따라 고온 출구 쪽의 온도가 강하하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 $CO_2$ 흡수 장치의 기본 설계 자료로 응용될 수 있을 것이다.

  • This paper describes experimental study on the orientation dependence of GM-type pulse tube refrigerator with helium and neon as working gas. A pulse tube refrigerator generates refrigeration work with gas expansion by gas displacer in the pulse tube. The pulse tube is only filled with working gas and there exists secondary flow due to large temperature difference between cold-end and warm-end. The stability of secondary flow is affected by orientation of cold-head and thus cooling performance is deteriorated by gas mixing due to secondary flow. In this study, a single stage GM-type pulse tube with orifice valve as a phase control device is fabricated and tested. The fabricated pulse tube refrigerator is tested with two different working gases of helium and neon. First, optimal valve opening and operating frequency are determined with experimental results of no-load test. And then, the variation of no-load temperature as orientation angle of cold-head is measured for two different working gases. Effect of orientation dependence of cold-head as working gas is discussed with experimental results.

정적 예혼합기 연소에 있어서 2영역 모델 및 2색법에 의한 연소온도 비교에 관한 연구 (A Study on Comparisons Between Combustion Temperatures Calculated by Two-Region Model and Measured by Two-Color Method in Premixed Constant-Volume Combustion)

  • A constant-volume combustion chamber is developed to measure the burnt gas temperature over the wide ranges of equivalence ratio from 1.5 to 2.7 and pressure from 0.1 to 2.7 and pressure from 0.1 to 6 MPa by two-color method. The combustion temperature is also calculated by the conventional two-region model. The transmissiv-ity in the chamber center during the final stage of combustion at the highest pressure is measured by in situ laser extinction method. Comparisons are made with the combustion temperatures between two-color method and two-region model. It is found that the burnt gas temperature mea-sured by two-color method is higher than that calculated by two-region model because of being the negative temperature gradient on the calculation and the temperature distribution of light path-length on the measurement and the burnt gas temperature for the turbulent combustion is higher than that of the laminar combustion under the same conditions because the heat loss for turbulent combustion is lower due to the shorter combustion period.

모사된 화재의 열적환경에서 열전대를 이용한 온도 측정오차에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on Temperature Measurement Bias using Thermocouple in Simulated Thermal Environments of Fire)

  • An experimental study was conducted to identify the quantitative measurement bias for the bare-bead thermocouple (TC), which was widely used for measuring temperature in fire experiments. To this end, an apparatus could be controlled individually gas flow rate, preheating temperature and incident radiative heat flux was developed to simulate the thermal environments of fire. A relative measurement bias of bare-bead TC was evaluated with the comparison of double-shield aspirated TC. As a result, the relative measurement bias of bare-bead TC was gradually increased with the increase in radiative heat flux with constant gas temperature. The relative bias was also significantly increased with the decrease in gas temperature. Quantitatively, at the gas temperature of $20^{\circ}C$, the bare-bead TC had the relative bias of approximately 400% with the radiative heat flux of $20kW/m^2$ corresponding to thermal radiation level of the flashover. The present study was intend to provide fire researchers with methodologies for the reanalyses of temperature measured using bare-bead TC, radiation corrections, and validation of fire modeling.
