The purpose of this study is to investigate the change of time use in employed husbands and their wives according to family life cycle. Data for 284 couples were gathered from the structured questionnaire and time diary. The major findings of this study were as follows; (1) The family life cycle had effected on the time use of wives changed remarkable. That is to say the housework time of the unemployed wives decreased after increasing to the second stage but the social-cultural time of those changed to the contrary. (2) The family life cycle affected only the husbands' housework time on the weekend but wasn't the important effect of time use in case of the employed husbands.
The purpose of this study was to provide for the appropriate conflict management strategies to employed wives by investigation casual relations of conflict, resources, home management behavior and managerial satisfaction by applying a system's approach. The data were collected through the questionnaire whose respondent were 388 employed wives. The data were analyzed by various statistical methods such as Frequency, Percentage, ANOVA, F-test, T-test, Pearsons' correlation analysis, Multiple Regression analysis, Path analysys. The results of this study are as follows : 1) Input variables, throughput variables, output variables had differences significantly according to the family life cycle. The employed wives' families which are former term of the family life cycle used more appropriate conflict management strategies than latter term of FLC. That is, the employed wives' families which are former term of FLC had more abundant resources such as cohesive power of family, interaction with relatives, social support, had higher planning score, used more frequent structural management strategies. But, the managerial satisfaction had no differences. 2) For the relation of input variables and throughput variables, the more resources, the lower conflict is the higher planning, implementing score, structural management score. For the relation of throughput variables, the higher planning, implementing, structural management score is the higher managerial satisfaction score. For the relation of input variables and output variables, the more resources, the lower conflict is the higher managerial satisfaction, besides objective and material resource, subjective and psychological resource had influence. 4) among all variables affecting the managerial satisfaction, the commition of housework, cohesive power of family, wives' occupational level had indirect effect on managerial satisfaction through structural managemenet. Only the income had direct effect on managerial satisfaction.
This study investigated time management behavior of employed wives and variables related. The samples were composed of 396 wives living in Seoul and Kwangju city. The major finding are as follow: 1) The level of the time management of employed wives was slightly high. 2) The dominant factor in time management behavior was goal setting and planning$.$priori-ting 3) The time management behavior was low related to the time use. The family financial management is the important element which has a effect on the improvement of family economic well-being. Thus the study sets up human & material resources and requirement as an input factor, family financial management as an throughput factor, and economic well-being as an output factor, and then identifies if there are some relationships among them by using a systematic approach of family financial management. The questionaires were distributed to 600 employed wives by carrying out cluster sampling and disproportional stratified sampling. The 573 cases of them were used as the mean, ratio, Pearson’s Correration, ANOVA, factors analysis, and Stepwise Regression using the SAS/PC+. The major findings of the study are as follows: 1) A practical application of information as on input variable, appears the fator which has an important effect upon the throughput factor, that is, family financial management. The employed wives should manage a lot of resources in rapidly changing social-economic circustances. So it shows that not only they should take informations open to their daily life and then make practical use of them in managing their family finance, but also they must be capable of judging and accepting reasonable informations in order to gain and manage resources suitable to the characteristics of family finance and family members’need. 2) There was significant relationship between the employed wives’family financial management and family economic well-being, focused on the systematic theory of family financial management. This study provides for the information to develope the program for the employed wives’family financial planning and counseling.
This study aimed to analyze time allocation for men who work long hours and their wives. Using 2014 time-use survey data (provided by Statistics Korea), we analyzed the amount of time spent in four areas-paid work, housework, leisure, and life essentials-of male workers who work more than 52 hours a week and of their wives. Descriptive statistics and a paired t-test were conducted using SPSS version 18.0. The results were as follows: First, the time allocation of men who worked long hours differed from their wives with the exception of personal maintenance time. Second, the working time of wives who work long hours was longer than their husbands who work long. Third, men who worked long hours did less housework when their wives were employed than when they were not employed. All the results showed gender differences in terms of time allocation. Equal role-sharing between spouses is needed for the work-life balance of both husbands and wives.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences of child care and it's costs between the full time housewives and employed wives' families with preschool children. the results of this study were as follows ; 1) The child care was performed primarily by herselves in the case of full time housewives' families, whereas the child care of employed wife families was done by babysitter or nursing facilities. 2) Most of unemployed wives' families undertook the burden of time cost, whereas the families of employed wives had to pay heavy expenses of money cost f9or the child care arrangements 3) In the estimation of money cost for the child care arrangements income had the highest effect. In contrast with this, in the case of time cost, occupational status of housewives had the highest effect. It was suggested for enhancing the sense of well - being of housewife it is necessary to perceive the value of household production and the social support for child care arrangements in all families, whether unemployed or employed.
The purpose of this study is to investigate bases on the employed wives’family financial management types according to family financial management types according to family financial management project and performance. And it’s related variables will provide the basic information for the program which aids in the improvement of the employed wives’family financial management skills and family financial counseling. The major findings were as follows: 1) The total mean score of respondent’s family financial management was 3.54 out of 5. And the mean score of project and performance was respectively 3.42 and 3.62. 2) Among family financial management types, effective type, project-centered type, performance-centered type, ineffective type were respectively 38.7%, 16.4%, 13.2%, 31.7%. 3) The family financial management type of the employed wives was affected by information utilization the degree of communication, type of occupation, and job attitudes.
This study is to find the relation between role performance on employed wives and husbands in family and family life contribution family life satisfaction and to found out variables which influence them. The samples were selected from the employed wives with children more than one in Seoul. Among 900 respondents 684 employed wives were finally selected as data. The purpose of this study were to understand the types of preferences to housewives' employment of husbands and wives, and to explore the differences in the personal, the family, and the job-related variables regarding such types of preferences. For this study, the employed housewives with children aged under 10 year were surveyed. The results of this study were as follow; 1) Types of perferences to housewives' employment of husbands were smaller compared to wives'. This may mean that husbands' traditional values related to child rearing and education, and housework influenced on their preferences to wives' employment. 2) There were significant differences in the types of preferences to housewives' employment regarding the types of wives' occupation. Wives working in the white color jobs were prefered themselves' employment more than wives working in the blue color jobs. 3) The group that both wives and husbands prefere housewives' employment was more positively perceived the effects of women's employment on both wives themselves and their children. Also such couples were satisfied more than and felt family-job strain less than other groups.
Since the late 20th century, digital technology has changed our environment in many ways. The representative advanced homes today embed digital facilities such as a sensor infrastructure, a networking system, and ubiquitous display. In this point of view, this study was intended to define the apartment residents' diverse needs for digital home design. The subjects are 400 wives who live in Busan. The findings are as follows; (1) The factors of the housing activities are extracted as 'guest hosting,' 'family entertaining,' 'digital network,' 'daily domestic affair,' 'non-daily domestic affair,' 'media using,' and 'bathing & exercising' activities. (2) The 'digital network activities' occurred more frequently in the households with non-employed wife and preschool children, and with employed wife and preschool and elementary school children. (3) The factors of the digital home system were extracted as 'safety & maintenance,' 'health & convenience,' 'educational & housekeeping,' and 'cultural & entertaining' systems. (4) The needs of non-employed wives for the safety & maintenance and the educational & housekeeping systems are varied by family life cycle and wife age. While, the needs of employed wives for the educational & housekeeping and the culture & entertaining systems are varied by dwelling-size and wife age.
