조선시대 아동용 교재들 속에 나타난 정서지능 (Emotional Intelligence in Children's Textbooks of the Chosun Dynasty)

  • Seven textbooks for children used in homes and schools (sudangs) of the Chosun dynasty were examined to investigate how they taught emotional intelligence in traditional Korean society. The contents of the books were analyzed according to the 4 abilities of emotional intelligence described by Salovey and Mayer (1966): (1) perception, appraisal, and expression of emotion, (2) emotion's facilitation of thinking, (3) understanding and analyzing emotions, and (4) regulation of emotion to promote emotional and intellectual growth. The analysis showed that most of the books valued emotional intelligence and taught children how they perceive, appraise, and express emotions. The emotional ability to facilitate thinking was also emphasized, whereas the ability to understand and analyze emotions was seldom mentioned. It was also found that the regulation of emotion was emphasized; that is, children were educated to control and depress their emotions rather than to express them naturally.

아동의 정서지능과 자아존중감의 특성 및 상호관계 (Characteristics and Relationships of Emotional Intelligence and Self-Esteem in Children)

  • This study of the characteristics and the relationships of children's emotional intelligence (EQ) and self-esteem had a sample of 1060 5th grade children. The rank order of four EQ factors from highest to lowest was "perception of emotion", "other-regulation and self-expression", "self-regulation and emotion utilization", and "empathy". Among self-esteem factors, "general self-worth" had the highest correlation with overall self-esteem; "physical appearance" was most strongly correlated with "general self-worth". Relationships between EQ and self-esteem showed that higher EQ was associated with higher self-esteem. Among EQ factors, "other-regulation and self-expression" was the strongest predictor of "behavioral conduct." The next strongest predictor of self-esteem among EQ factors was "self-regulation and utilization of emotion". Other self-esteem factors well predicted by EQ were "general self-worth", and "scholastic competence".

노화에 의해 저하된 시공간 주의배분능력이 정서지각 편향성에 미치는 영향 (The Influences of Deteriorated Visuo-spatial Attention Allocation Ability Caused by Aging on Emotional Perception Bias)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 노화에 따라 나타나는 시공간 주의배분능력과 정서지각 편향성의 변화에 대해 탐구하는 것이다. 본 연구에서는 시공간 주의배분능력을 측정하기 위해 useful field of view (UFOV) 과제와 정서지각 편향성을 측정하기 위해 정서지각과제(emotional perception task)를 사용하였다. 본 연구에는 노인 집단의 23명과 청년 집단의 25명의 총 48명의 실험참가자가 참여하였다. 실험 결과, UFOV 과제에서는 노인 집단이 청년 집단에 비해 느린 반응속도와 낮은 정답률을 보여 노인 집단이 청년 집단보다 저하된 시공간 주의배분능력을 가지고 있다는 것을 나타냈다. 또한, 정서지각과제에서는 노인 집단이 청년 집단에 비해 긍정적 정서지각 편향성과 부정적 정서지각 편향성 모두 크게 나타났다. 상관분석 결과에서는 정서지각과제의 정답률에 대한 부정적 정서지각 편향성이 UFOV 과제의 시야각 30° 조건의 반응속도와 유의미한 정적 상관관계가 나타났다(r=.289). 또한, 정서지각과제의 정답률에 대한 긍정적 정서지각 편향성은 UFOV 과제의 모든 시야각 조건들의 정답률과 유의미한 정적 상관관계가 나타났으며(r=.305, r=.322, r=.299), 반응속도와 유의미한 부적 상관관계가 나타났다(r=-.345, r=-.295, r=-.308). 이러한 결과는 노화가 저하된 시공간 주의배분능력 그리고 긍정적 정서지각 편향성과 부정적 정서지각 편향성의 증가와 관련있다는 것을 의미하고, 노화에 따라 나타나는 긍정적 및 부정적 정서지각 편향성은 저하된 시공간 주의배분능력과 관련성이 있는 것으로 여겨진다.

Visual Perception of Garment Surface Appearance

  • This paper concerns with the relationship between the visual perception of the degree of pucker or wrinkles of garment surfaces and the geometrical parameters of surfaces. In this study, four potentially relevant parameters of the surface profile are considered, namely, the variance ($\sigma$$^2$), the cutting frequency (F$\_$c/), the effective disparity curvature (D$\_$ce/) (Defined as the average disparity curvature of the wrinkled surface over the eyeball distance of the observer) and the frequency component of the disparity curvature ( D$\_$cf/). Based on the experiments using garment seams having varying degree of pucker (i.e. the wrinkles along a seam line), it was found that, while the logarithm of each of these four parameters has a strong linear relationship with the visually perceived degree of wrinkles, following the Web-Fetchner Law, the effective disparity curvature ( D$\_$ce/) and the frequency component of the disparity curvature (D$\_$cf/) appeared to have stronger relationships with the visual perception. This finding is in agreement with the suggestion by Rogers '||'&'||' Cagenello that human visual system may compute the disparity curvature in discriminating curved surfaces. It also suggested an objective method of measuring the degree of surface wrinkles.

열감지지수를 활용한 신체온도의 예측 (Prediction of a rectal temperature utilizing a thermal perception index)

  • 이 논문은 신체온도를 직접 측정하지 않고서 신체온도를 예상하는 모델을 연구한 것이다. 열감지지수 (TPI)를 개발하여 환경으로부터 느끼는 체감온도와 몸의 내부온도인 직장온도(Trec)와 몸의 외부온도인 피부온도 (Tsdin)를 예측하도록 하였다. Kwon과 Ramsey의 개발모델을 Goldman 의 모델과 비교해본 결과 정확도에 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 없었다. 회귀분석과 경험을 토대로 만든 체감온도를 예측할 수 있는 손쉬운 Kwon의 열감지지수 (KTPI)도 제시하였다. 대부분의 사람들이 쉽게 예측할 수 있도록 측정 또는 사용가능한 몇 개의 환경변수로부터 쉽게 몸의 예산 내부온도와 외부온도를 계산할 수 있게 단순화하였다.

정서발달의 관점에서 본 우리나라의 전통태교: 태교신기를 중심으로 (The Korean Tradition of Taegyo for Supporting Prenatal Development: Focusing on Emotion in Taegyo-Singi)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyse the principles and methods of Taegyo-Singi with regard to emotion and to review basic informations on Taegyo programs for promoting prenatal development. Taegyo-Singi was analyzed as follows. First, the contents of Taegyo-Singi were classified into principles and methods of Taegyo. Second, the domains of emotion were categorized into emotional perception, emotional expression, emotional understanding, and emotional regulation based on the classification of Mayer and Salovey, and Moon. Third, the contents of Taegyo-Singi were classified into the four domains of emotion. Finally, the reliability and validity of the classification were obtained through inter-rater agreement and analysis of content validity. The results indicated that first, the principles of Taegyo presuppose parental influence on temperament formation, and that the emotional states of the mother in the prenatal and prepregnancy period is the most influential variable in a child's temperament formation. Second, the methods of Taegyo presuppose that the human mind interacts with their behavior. Therefore, through emotional support of family members, 'jon-sim (the serene mind)' and 'chung-sim (the mind from rectitude)' are the key methods of Taegyo. This means that the Korean tradition of Taegyo focused on the emotional domain of development, especially emotional regulation. This coincides with the emotion-focused temperament theory that individual differences in temperament reflect individual differences in emotion.

어머니의 정서표현성과 부정적 정서표현에 대한 반응이 아동의 정서지능에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Mother's Emotional Expressiveness and Reaction to Child Negative Emotions on Child Emotional Intelligence)

  • This study examines child emotional intelligence in relation to mother's emotional expressiveness and reaction to child negative emotions. A sample of 352 children and mothers from 4 elementary schools in Seoul and Gyeonggi participated in the study. Child emotional intelligence and mother's reaction to child negative emotions were evaluated by child-report, and mother's emotional expressiveness was assessed by mother-report. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, two-way analysis of variances, Pearson's correlation and multiple regression analyses. The findings were as follows. First, mothers of boys showed more oversensitive-reaction to child negative emotions than mothers of girls. Mothers of 6th-graders showed more emotion-minimizin-greaction to child negative emotions than mothers of 5th-graders. Second, girls showed a higher level of overall emotional intelligence than boys. Girls showed a higher level of emotion expression and emotion regulation than boys. The 5th-graders showed higher level of emotion expression than 6th-graders; however, 6th graders showed a higher level of emotion perception than 5th-graders. Third, more emotion-coaching-reaction and less oversensitive-reaction by mothers predicted a better emotional intelligence of children. A mother's appropriate emotional socialization behaviors associated with child emotional intelligence were discussed.
