The purpose of this study is to develop and technically implement the design and scenario of cabin safety contents for virtual reality (VR)-based cabin safety learning for aviation service majors. The process for developing VR cabin safety learning contents consisted of a total of four stages: learning stage, research stage, verification stage, and application stage. The cabin safety scenario items for the production of VR learning contents reflected the occurrence of an emergency, the procedure for survival from impact, and the evacuation procedure from the aircraft as the core. For the technical implementation of learning contents, modeling work is conducted by checking scenario reviews, types and numbers of objects related to equipment and facilities, and items of interaction. In addition, the connection work with the actual metaverse platform is carried out to enable the utilization of the manufactured facilities and equipment objects. Finally, application tests were carried out to reconfirm supplementary items.

The dimensioning accidental loads have been selected through suitable quantitative risk assessment and generally utilized important factors for offshore facility design. The fire hazard can be quantified with dimensioning fire loads. The main purposes of fire protection are to maintain the functionality of safety systems within evacuation period and to prevent the escalation from initial fire to uncontrolled catastrophic fire. This paper introduces the applications and the design methods of active and passive fire protections as representative measures of fire protection of offshore facilities. The passive fire protection requires the high initial installation cost and much difficulty on the operation of facilities and their maintenance. The oil major clients have asked the design contractors of offshore facilities to optimize the amount of passive fire protection with relevant engineering technology recently.
Caused by the Cheonanham attack and the Yeonpyeongdo bombardment occurred a few years ago, and the recent North Korea's nuclear test, the war crisis between South and North Korea has been increasing. Accordingly, an interest in obtaining a temporary residential space, for the case of the outbreak of war, where people can reside safely over a period of time has been escalating. However, in the disaster relief planning guidelines of the National Emergency Management Agency, the standards on the temporary residential spaces in preparation for storm and flood or earthquake are included, but the standards on the ones in responding to war are not yet equipped. In particular, the standards on the underground temporary residential spaces that can accommodate massive victims should be developed in preparation. In this study, through a requirements analysis based on the survey of war victims and a comparative analysis between disaster-related laws and regulations, the direction of relevant system improvement for the utilization of temporary residential spaces in responding to war is established.
Korea faces The 2014 Incheon Asian Games and 2018 Pyungchang Winter Olympics. It is imperative to hold a safe event for the economic benefits, enhancing Korea's image, social integration, national harmony and unity in order to be evaluated as a successful international event. Furthermore, since the international event tends to draw many spectators, the host country must be ready to accommodate a large number of injured people in the event of an accident or terror attack. As stadiums for international events are where a large number of spectators gather in, a large refuge is essential, when dangerous situations happen. In this study, evacuation simulation was conducted using three scenarios in order to predict escape behaviors of spectators during the large escape by destruction of safety systems of stadiums and assess escape safety. As the result, the following results and proposals were extracted. Firstly, it is considered that dangerous situations during the security of stadiums should be predicted in advance and concrete plans for a large refuge of spectators have to be established to minimize damage. Secondly, it was found that the reduction in evacuation exits has an important impact on evacuation in an emergency situation. It implies that securing escape exits are quite important. Thirdly, there were areas where spectators stayed, due to blocked escape exits, while they were dispersed and concentrated at once. It demonstrates that security plans considering properties of facilities are required to solve these problems.

Seafarer sea survival training, such as basic safety refresher training and advanced safety refresher training, in accordance with the STCW Convention, is an indispensable program that can increase the crew survival rate during emergency situations at sea. It is important for crew members to carry out theoretical and practical training with various safety equipment in order to effectively train according to IMO model courses. Therefore, this study suggests the following measures to improve safety training facilities for seafarers by reviewing survival training requirements based on the IMO model course and comparing and analyzing related facilities based on operating cases from domestic and overseas training institutes. First, it is necessary to establish a training environment where seafarers can practice utilizing various, updated safety equipment such as marine evacuation equipment (slides, chutes, etc.). Second, it is necessary to construct an educational environment in which learners can directly or indirectly experience realistic emergency situations by installing marine environment simulation facilities with such equipment as a wave generator, rain fall device, wind generating device, etc. Third, it is also necessary to develop and expand customized training using virtual reality equipment in addition to experiential training, audiovisual training and simulation training.
A study on fire phenomena in a subway transit mass station has been carried out as a part of disaster prevention plan at the subway station. The ventilation facilities installed in both the platform and the trackway are designed to convert into a smoke exhaust system in emergency situation, creating such an environment as necessary for evacuation. 3 dimensional Numerical Simulations based on the CFD are carried out using a simulation tool, Fire Dynamic Simulator. Additionally, four different vent modes are made and performances are compared with the original design mode and each other to find better operation of vents at both the platform and the trackway in case of fire. From the result, an vent operational characteristics under the condition of installed PSD is clarified for the effective smoke and heat removal from the platform area compared with non installed PSD.
Purpose: Swimming industry is improving faster than the other types of sport industries and populations of participating swimming are promptly increasing. Lack of recognition of fire safety in swimming facilities is issues related-studies has only recently begun to pay attention. This study is to review and extract fire safety factors for managing swimming pool. Research design, data, and methodology: The study reviewed related-ordinances, governmental documents, and studies discussing safety management of sport facility. As earthquakes have increased in Korea recently, people are paying attention to the seismic performance of buildings built in the past. Many school buildings in Korea were built based on standard drawings before the seismic design was applied. However, since school buildings are often designated as emergency evacuation facilities in case of disasters such as earthquakes, seismic evaluation and retrofit must be done quickly. This study investigated the failure modes among structural components (beams, columns, and joints), focusing on 1980s standard drawings for school buildings. The effects of column axial force, partial masonry infills, and different material strengths for concrete and rebar were considered for detailed evaluation. As a result, most of the joints were found to be the weakest among structural components. Column axial forces tended to make the joints more vulnerable, and partial masonry infills increased the possibility of joint failure and shear failure in columns.
The The purpose of this study is to develop survival kit prepared at the outbreak of the civil defense situation and to explore ways to ensure the safety and well-being of the people. Consider the civil defense shelters in a short two hours, from six days to live long, emergency life support food and other items needed for the basic right to life of the facility users. Minimum survival kit per capita personal weight 4.85kg, state and local governments (the government) is 2.65kg. By the social advancement, radiological disaster prevention planning is getting important considering complex disasters as in the Fukushima radiological disaster occurred by a chain of natural disasters. However, it has yet to be suggested the specific prevention plans for the complex disasters in the field of national radiological disaster prevention. This study aims to analyze the types of complex disasters in order to select the ones that are relatively more likely to occur in the domestic environment. It is also to analyze the impact on the radiological disaster prevention by searching damage spread of the classified natural disasters. We provides the necessary criterial for establishing disaster prevention plans through the scenarios for radiological emergency responses based on complex disasters. it is thought that these criteria can help prepare for the worst case scenario and implement effective resident protection.
