This study is to find out how well elementary school gardens work as places of observation learning. We compared the tree species planted in elementary school gardens with those which appeared in the science textbooks of the 7th Korean National Curriculum. The number of tree species are 60 throughout all the grades, specifically; 43 in the third grade, 22 in the fifth grade, 16 in the first grade, 15 in the second grade, 8 in the sixth grade, and 5 in the fourth grade, respectively. Their frequency of appearance (hereafter referred to as 'appearance frequency') throughout all the grades is 175, and the maximum frequency is 62 in the third grade. Of particular note is the fact that the appearance frequency in one grade was very high, meaning that a repeat study will not be conducted. The total number of tree species counted in the study was 13,028 and consisted of 167 species in 52 families. Only 23% of the total planted tree species, that is, 38 tree species appeared in the textbooks, so the ratio of the practical usage of school gardens was revealed to be low. In the school gardens, there are only an average of about 16 tree species per school. The fewest number of species in one school was 9 and the most was 22. The native species were 74 and the non-native species were 93. This means that almost all the planted species do not relate to observation learning in the textbooks. The 22 tree species among 60 species in the textbooks were not planted in the gardens. In conclusion, the degree of utilization of almost all the elementary school gardens examined during this investigation was very low.
The purposes of this study were to investigate the practice of performance assessment in elementary mathematics classes especially focused on 4th grade. To achieve this, three research questions were posed as follow: First, What do they prepare for performance assessment? Second, What kinds of tests do they use in mathematics performance assessment? Third, What kinds of difficulties do they have for performance assessment and what should be changed for a successful performance assessment in mathematics? To Answer the research questions, three 4th grade classes were selected from three different elementary schools in seoul and three teachers were interviewed. From the data analysis, several conclusion were drawn. First, a plan for mathematics performance assessment was not set by the class teacher who are in charge of the class. The main reason was lack of time. Second, in most of the assessment, written tests were used and the items in the tests were skill-oriented. Third, teachers thought that performance assessment was needed in mathematics. But lack of their time, knowledge and competency, it is difficult to do performance assessment in mathematics.
Diadochokinesis (DDK) aims to identify the evaluating the oral mitor ability and the moter coordination ability. There are few DDK normative data on elementary school students in Korea, The purpose of this study was to investigate the characteristics of the speed and regularity of DDK in first- and second-grade students in elementary school. The subjects were a total of 194 students in first- (45 males, 50 females) and second-grade (47 males, 52 females) in elementary schools in Gwangju Metropolitan City. As evaluation tasks, AMR task 'p?', 't?', and 'k?' and SMR task 'p?t?k?' were performed. The speed and regularity of DDK was measured using Motor speech profile (Model 5141, KayPENTAX) and Praat (v6.0.3.6). The results of this study, First, there was a statistically significant difference by grade in AMR speed for 'p?', 't?', and 'k?' and the AMR speed was faster in second grade group. And, there was no statistically significant. Second, AMR regularity showed a statistically significant difference in 'p?', 't?', and 'k?' according to sex and was found to be more regular in female student group. There was no significant difference in regularity by grade. Third, the SMR speed showed statistically significant difference in 'p?t?k?' by grade and was faster in second grade group. And there was no statistically significant difference by sex. The results of this study showed that the DDK performance ability in first- and second-grade students in elementary school was slightly different according to grade and sex. In future research, it is necessary to investigate the correlation between the articulation accuracy and linguistic intelligibility, and to find out the usefulness of DDK in articulation evaluation.
The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the effect on formation of computational abilities and dispositions to the first grade of elementary school students by applying of communicative teaching and learning activity. As a result of analysis, we could get some suggestive points and also we could make sure that computational abilities and dispositions of the first grade students are formed by applying of communicative teaching and learning activity. However, help and control of teacher have to be with it.

We must know computer terms to use, learn, and understand efficiently. It is important for the elementary school students who learn computer for the first time to understand computer terms correctly. This study investigates a computer terms in the elementary school computer textbook which have been used currently at the elementary school, selects suitable computer terms for the elementary school student, analyzes and classifies them as a 1 2th grade, a 3 4th grade, 5 6th grade by the elementary school computer curriculum, and also classifies those as information ethics, computer basic, application software, computer communication by the category. The expectations of this study are as follows. First, the result of this offers teacher to a computer terms guidance for usability which is essential to elementary school's computer class. Second, this can be used as a reference in making a elementary computer textbook or studying and training textbook for teachers. Third, this offers teachers to an important criteria when they select a computer textbook for elementary student in elementary school.

This study is to find out that the effects of a creative experience activity program to scientific concepts and self-directed learning skills. This study has been aimed at 2 class 40 students of 4th grade in D metropolitan city A elementary school in 2015, one class 20 students are the research group to apply Scientific research program using creative experience activity, another class 20 students were comparison groups to apply general science classes. The related class section of this study is 4th grade 2 semester of science 4 chapters, 'The Earth and the moon' This section is in fourth grade elementary science curriculum revision in 2009 is a Sections to learn for the first time about astronomical area. Target research group in club activities as part of the creative activities implemented using scientific inquiry and analyzed the results. In addition, in order to better research based on the results of this study as follows. First, the science curriculum in elementary schools, as well as applied research about the creative experience activity classes in other subjects is required. The ongoing research is needed to classes utilizing the characteristics of creative experience activities in several subjects of the elementary school curriculum. Second, Creative experiential learning is only effective when it is done consistently, it is worth studying for long periods of time.

In this paper, we conducted a case study for lower grade elementary school students by modifying and applying lesson plan of CS Unplugged v4.1. Software education was introduced in the 2015 revised national curriculum in Korea, but the starting age is later than the other countries. Also most projects and researches are concentrated in higher grade elementary school students. It is necessary to lower the entry age of software education in order to nurture human resources leading the fourth industrial revolution era. In this study, we modified the lesson plan of CS Unplugged v4.1 to be suitable for lower grade elementary school students in Korea. The participants were 18 students in the first grade of elementary school, pre&post-test on understanding of computer science principles were conducted for examining the effectiveness. As a result, the average was significantly higher in the post-test than in the pre-test, with t=-2.222, p=0.040(p < .05).
The purpose of this study is to consider students′ scholastic relationship in mathematics between elementary school and middle school from the 3rd grade in elementary school to the 2nd and the 3rd grades in middle school. The following are the results: 1. CONCLUSIONS 1. Students′ present scores are most closely related to those of their previous grade. The data are based on the two groups of the 3rd grade middle school students - one is honhappan(mixed students from different elementary school) and the other shinaepan(the students from the same elementary school in kong ju city). This close relation between present and previous scores in mathematics may well be reasonable since mathematics is systemized hierarchically. Among the score data in elementary school, the scores in the 5th grade are meaningfully related to present score data in mathematics. 2. Two pans (as I mentioned above, honhap and shinae) are divided into groups and their scores are traced from the 3rd grade in elementary school and the data show that the high-levelled students have little changes in their scores, but low-levelled students have dropped radically in their scores from the first grade in middle school. 3. In terms of students′ interests, students who answered, "I′m very interested in mathematics." have no distinguished characteristics in their scores while those who answered, "I have little interest in mathematics" shows a decrease in their scores. 4. Among the reasons for their lack of interests, the replies are "because of exams," "because of teaching methods," and "because of the textbooks." II. Suggestion To compensate the limitation and difficiency of this study, the foll owing is suggested for the following studies related to this one. 1. This study was limited to gathering students′ score data from female students in a small city. For a more accurate statistic a bigger population is needed as well as varied geographical and social economical area is suggested. A good idea is to study homogeneous sex groups as well as heterogeneous sex groups 2. It is easy to find out what grade is closely related to the present scores by statistical analysis, but the reasons for their relationship have to be found out through the following studies 3. There are many studies on cognitive domain in math but it is expected to have more studies on affective domain as well.
The purpose of this study was to analyze question's patterns in elementary school science teacher's guide books of 5, 6th grade under the 2009 revised curriculum. A modified analysis framework based on Blosser's classified system was used to analyze 1,982 questions extracted from elementary science teacher's guide books by grade, by domain, and by teaching and learning stage. The findings of this study were as follows. First, of the 1,982 questions, the most prominent type of question was the propositional question and the following was the reproductive question. And, in comparing the question's patterns between 5, 6th grade, it was found that 6th grade had higher rate of close typed question, while 5th grade had higher rate of open typed question in its curriculum. Secondly, a comparative study about two domains, material and energy science domain and earth and life science domain, showed that the number of questions of each domain was not much different. However, it was found that propositional questions and applicable questions showed a higher rate in material and energy science domain, and anticipated questions and open typed questions including divergent and evaluative question showed higher rate in earth and life science domain. Moreover, although the total number of questions from integration and my fun research domain's contents was small, the rate of open typed questions was higher than any other domains. Finally, as a result of comparing and analyzing question's pattern in teaching and learning stages, the rate of reproductive question and anticipated questions was high at the stage of introduction. At the stage of development, the rate of propositional and reproductive questions was high. At the stage of conclusion, the rate of synthetic and applicable questions was high.
The purpose of this study is to see correlation between parental psychological control and volition control in mathematics learning of 6th grade of elementary school. This study has carried out a survey for 371 male and female students in 6th grade of elementary school in Gyeongnam. We analyzed the collected data statistically, and the results are as follows. First, there was a significant difference in the level of volition control in mathematics learning between male and female students. The level of volition control in mathematics learning was found to be higher in female groups than in male groups. Second, there was no significant difference in father and mother's psychological control level perceived by 6th grade elementary school students. Third, there was a significant negative correlation between parental psychological control and their children's level of volition control in mathematics learning. In this study, by examining the correlation between parental psychological control and volition control level in mathematics learning of elementary school students, the higher the parental psychological control, the lower the level of volition control of their children. So, that it is important to have a parenting attitude that respects their children's emotion and expression.
