  • We have experienced tremendous growth in commercial use of Internet especially in the last couple of years, and the rate of growth does not appear to be slowing down. As the Internet becomes a dominant platform for electronic commerce, all involved parties of electronic commerce are concerned about security of transactions. Various technologies are adopted to enhance the security of business transactions. This paper briefly discusses certificate technology and a way to minimize the business risk of certificate authority in a form of system requirements of CMS(Certificate Management System).

  • Certificate-based signature (CBS) combines the advantages of both public key-based signature and identity-based signature, while saving from the disadvantages of drawbacks in both PKS and IBS. The insecure deployment of CBS under the hostile circumstances usually causes the exposure of signing key to be inescapable. To resist the threat of key leakage, we present a pairing-free key insulated CBS scheme by incorporating the idea of key insulated mechanism and CBS. Our scheme eliminates the costly pairing operations and as a matter of fact outperforms the existing key insulated CBS schemes. It is more suitable for low-power devices. Furthermore, the unforgeability of our scheme has been formally proven to rest on the discrete logarithm assumption in the random oracle model.

  • We propose an efficient off-line electronic cash system based on the certificate issued by Certificate Authority. It satisfies all the basic requirements for electronic payment system such as cash unforgeability, cash anonymity, double spending detection, no framing, etc. Our proposed system is very computationally efficient in the sense that: (1) the number of exponentiation operation imposed on the user during withdrawal phase is much smaller than any existing off-line electronic cash schemes, (2) all the computation of user's during withdrawal phase can be performed by off-line pre-processing. So the proposed system is suitable to be implemented by smart cards in both memory and computation.

  • This paper proposes a mutual authentication scheme for mobile router in MANEMO. The NEMO used AAA server in order to authenticate mobile router in nested mobile network. So, this scheme has some problem that increases authentication message overhead and authentication time. The proposed scheme uses temporary certificate that signed by an access router's private key. The temporary certificate authenticates a mobile router when the mobile router entered a MANET domain. The proposed scheme reduces authentication message overhead and authentication time than the scheme to use AAA server when authenticating the mobile router.

  • Digital certificate must be used for electronic financial transactions in Korea. But because digital certificate is based ActiveX of Internet Explorer, it is difficult to use digital certificate in other web browsers. It interrupts a development of various authentication technology and a growth of related industry. Also digital certificate can be leaked because of being stored in harddisk or USB. The government eased obligatory use of digital certificate and opened doors to other authentication techniques. But any other authentication techniques are not used because they are not approved as alternative technology. The revised bills with digital certificate abolition as the main agenda have been submitted to the National Assembly. Whether the revised bills pass or not will be decided by a regular session of the National Assembly depending on the calculation and dynamics composition of related industry. In this paper, a controversy over obligatory use of digital certificate is examined and measures are found.

  • Deleting unsolicited email, popularly known as spam mail, is an annoying task for Internet users. Moreover, spam mail causes a variety of social problems. At present, legal restrictions cannot eradicate spam senders. As a result, many technical methods to eliminate spam mail such as spam filtering and online stamps have been introduced. However, the process of blocking spam mail can inadvertently result in suspension of indispensable or beneficial communication. In this paper, we propose a certificate and agent based emailing architecture that can block spam mail, while at the same time approve certified mail. This architecture can be accelerated by synergistic utilization of digital signature and electronic document interchange.

  • We have heard about several keywords of the fourth industrial revolution such as automation, artificial intelligence and connectivity. And electronic publishing systems and ebooks will enable us to experience a new industrial revolution without discrimination. On that level, it is necessary to study a method of automatic accessibility tool for electronic publishing. There are some studies on accessibility standard specifications, accessibility guidelines, and accessibility certificate criteria. but there is little research about automatic inspection tools in electronic publishing area. This paper proposed a library for accessibility inspector of EPUB and its components based on IDPF EPUB accessiblity guidelines and TTA accessibility certificate criteria for reading disabled people. After implementing the library that can be connected to SIGIL, which is the most widely used in Korea, we verified its functionality and its coverage with Korean commercial EPUB files.

  • Nowadays, a patient's private medical data which is exposed to the outside world has a severe effect on not only the patient's private life but also his/her social activities and environment. So, it is important to securely protect the patient's private medical data from the illegal manipulation. This paper studies the method to store the electronic prescription information in an IC card. For that, an access control for users, such as a doctor, a nurse, a medical institute member, a pharmacy, a pharmacist, or a patient, is proposed to access the data stored in an IC card. The certificate is issued using the Crypto API of a certificate management model supported by Windows 2000. The public/private key is created by the Cryptographic Service Provider program, and the electronic prescription is signed using the digital signature. The proposed system, therefore, can improve the quality of medical services by securing the safety and integrity of the electronic prescription, stored in an IC card.
