DC-DC Converter용 자성박막 인덕터 설계에 관한 연구 (A Study on Design of Magnetic Thin Film Inductors for DC-DC Converter Applications)

  • In this study, the optimum structure of a magnetic thin film inductor was designed for application of DC-DC converters. The Ni$\sub$81/Fe$\sub$19/ (at%) alloy was selected as a high-frequency($\geq$MHz) magnetic thin film magnetron sputtering system. As-deposited NiFe thin films show similar magnetic properties compared to bulk NiFe alloys, indicating that they have a good film quality. The optimum design of dolenoid-type magnetic thin film inductors was performed utilizing a Maxwell computer simulator (Ansoftt HFSS V7.0 for PC) and parameters obtained from the magnetic properties of magnetic core materials selected. The high-frequency characteristics of the inductance(L) and quality factor(Q) obtained for the designed inductors through simulation agreed well with those obtained by theoretical calculations, confirming that the simulated result is realistic. The optimum structure of high-performance (Q$\geq$60, L = 1${\mu}$H, efficiency $\geq$90%), high-frequency ($\geq$5MHz), and solenoid-type magnetic thin film inductors was designed successfully.

Mn-dimer 분자자성체의 전자구조 및 자기구조 계산 (Electronic and Magnetic Structure Calculations of Mn-dimer Molecular Magnet)

  • 분자자성체 Mn-dimer의 전기구조 및 자기적 성질을 제1원리의 범밀도함수법을 이용하여 계산하였다. 계산 된 결과, 전자구조는 벌크 MnO와 비슷한 Mn 주위의 4개의 산소 원자에 의해 $t_{2g}$, $e_g$ 에너지 준위로 분리되어 있었다. 적은 수의 배위원자로 이 결정장 분리는 작았디. 총에너지 계산에서는 반강자성적 상호작용이 낮은 에너지를 가지고 있었다. 계산 된 $Mn^{+2}$ 원자 사이의 교환상호작용 크기는 다른 Mn-O 분자자성체보다 한 단위 큰 값을 얻었다. 이 원인은 Mn 3d 사이의 직접 상호작용과 Mn-O의 강한 결합으로 인한 초교환상호작용의 결과이다.

Magnetic Properties and Electronic Structure of $Pt_3Ni$ (001), (110) and (111) Surfaces: Density Functional Study

  • The limited understanding of the surface properties of $Pt_3Ni$ for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) in polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) has motivated the study of properties and electronic structures of seven layered $Pt_3Ni$ (001), (110), and (111) surfaces. The first principle method based on density functional theory (DFT) is carried out. It is found that the bulk $Pt_3Ni$ has a ferromagnetic ground state with the ordered fcc type L12 structure, which is in good agreement with other results. Non magnetic Pt has the induced magnetic moment due to the strong hybridization between 3d Ni and 5d Pt. The magnetic moment of Pt and Ni enhanced on the surface of each due to surface effect however the magnetic moment of surface Pt in the Pt-segregated Pt3Ni (111) decreased and the magnetic moment of Ni in Ni rich subsurface increased significantly. The calculated d band centers of Pt explain the possibilities for oxygen absorption and play the important roles in altering the catalytic properties. The spin polarized densities of states are presented in order to understand physical properties of Pt in different surfaces in detail.

  • Structural and magnetic properties of Co-Cr-Mo films were investigated in connection with sputtering conditions. Films were prepared using a convention RF sputtering system. X-ray diffractometry, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy were employed to investigate structure properties. Vibrating sample magnetometry was used for coercivity and saturation magnetization measurements. Co-Cr-Mo films displayed reasonable values of perpendicular coercivity and saturation magnetization for perpendicular recording media and showed good perpendicular orientation of the hcp c-axis to the film surface. Perpendicular coercivity was strongly dependent upon substrate technique showed better c-axis orientation than hose using the stationary substrate. Co-Cr-Mo films of 2.9 at. % Mo content showed maximum perpendicular coercivity and saturation magnetization. The films deposited at lower Ar pressure showed good magnetic properties. There was no explicit relationship between the columnar structure and c-axis orientation. Co-Cr-Mo films was found to have suitable structural and magnetic properties for perpendicular recording media.

Estimation of Magnetic Co-Energy in Salient Pole Rotor Type Single Phase SRM

  • The salient pole rotor type single phase SRM (switched reluctance motor) uses radial and axial direction magnetic flux simultaneously. Therefore, the output power per unit volume is very high and the shaft length is shorter than other types of SRMs with the same output. Furthermore, it can be manufactured with low cost owing to its simple structure and driving circuit. The prototype was designed using the theory of the traditional rotating machine and 3D FEM analysis. On this paper, the experiment apparatus, which includes the fabricated prototype in previous researches, was fabricated to measure the current and voltage of the prototype. Then the flux linkage, inductance and magnetic co-energy were calculated using the experimental results. Finally, the measured magnetic co-energy was compared with the simulated magnetic co-energy.

  • Ge 원자로 구성된 1차원 체인형태의 나노클러스터에 자성전이금속 Cr 및 Mn 원자를 치환 하였을 때 자성전이금속 원자사이의 자기적 상호작용을 제1원리의 범밀도함수법을 이용하여 계산하였다. 그 결과 Ge 원자와 전이금속 원자는 반강자성적인 상호작용을 하고 있으며, Ge-Ge원자 또한 반강자성 경향을 나타내었다. 이러한 자기 교환상호작용은 Ge 원자 여러 원자 층을 자화시켜 일어나고 있으며, 그 크기도 작지 않았다. 또한 자기 교환상호작용은 Ge 원자 수에 크게 의존하였다.

  • The crystals of ${\beta}-and\;{\beta}'-(ET)_2ICl_2$ have a modified structure of organic superconductor ${\beta}(ET)_2I_3$. These salts possess strictly different physical properties : the ${\beta}$ phase is a metal but the ${\beta}'$ phase is a semiconductor. Our band electronic structure calculations show that the ${\beta}$ phase is somewhat anisotropic 2D metal and the ${\beta}'$ phase with the 1D character in electronic structure is magnetic insulating, in good agreement with experimental indications.

  • The materials showing high structure dispersity have been developed on the quartz base by mechano-chemical technology. Depending on the processing conditions and subsequent applications, the materials produced by mechano-chemical reaction (MCR) showed concurrently magnetic, dielectric and electrical properties. The obtained magnetic-electrical powders classified by aggregate complex of their features as segneto-magnetics, contained a dielectric material as a carrying nucleus, particularly the quartz on that surface one or more layers of different compounds was synthesized having thickness up to 10∼50 nm and showing magnetic properties and etc.

  • In order to increase perpendicular magnetic anisotropy of magnetic layer and prepare magnetic recording layer with a good quality by epitaxial growth between magnetic layer and, we prepared Co$\_$77/Cr$\_$20/Ta$_3$/Si doublelayer for perpendicular magnetic recording media which was promoted as next generation recording media on slide glass substrate. The thickness of magnetic layer and Underlayer were varied from 20 to 100 nm and 5 to 100 m, respectively. The surface morphology and crystal structure of the CoCrTa/Si film were examined with XRD and AFM. Prepared thin films showed improvement of dispersion angle of c-axis orientation Δ$\theta$$\_$50/ caused by inserting amorphous Si underlayer.

Three-Dimensional Self-Assembled Micro-Array Using Magnetic Force Interaction

  • We have demonstrated a fluidic technique for self-assembly of microfabricated parts onto substrate using patterned shapes of magnetic force self-assembled monolayers (SAMs). The metal particles and the array were fabricated using the micromachining technique. The metal particles were in a multilayer structure (Au, Ti, and Ni). Sidewalls of patterned Ni dots on the array were covered by thick negative photoresist (SU-8), and the array was magnetized. The array and the particles were mixed in buffer solution, and were arranged by magnetic force interaction. Binding direction of the metal particle onto Ni dots was controlled by multilayer structure and direction of magnetization. A quarter of total Ni dots were covered by the particles. The binding direction of the particles was controllable, and condition of particles was almost even with the Au surface on top. The particles were successfully arranged on the array.
