Inherited the excellent electrical and mechanical properties based on the low dimensional structure of graphene, three-dimensional graphene nanostructures have gathered great attention as electrochemical energy storage electrodes owing to their high porosity and large specific surface area. Also, having the catecholamine structure, dopamine has been regarded as a multifunctional material to possess high affinity to various organic/inorganic materials and to modify a hydrophobic surface to a hydrophilic one. In this work, through coating dopamine on the three-dimensional graphene nanostructure, we tried to increase the specific capacitance by enhancing the wettability with electrolyte and to improve the mechanical compressive property by strengthening the nano-architecture. As a result, the dopamine-coated nanostructure exhibited significant improvement on the specific capacitance (51.5% increase) and compressive stress (59.6% increase).
The LiCoO2 thin films were prepared on the Pt/Ti/SiO2/Si substrate by spin coating using citrate sol. The citrate sol was spin-coated on substrate and dried at 380oC for 15 min. to evaporate the solvents and remove the organic materials. The as-deposited films were annealed at 750oC for 10 min. in air for crystallization. The X-ray diffraction patterns for the film have been indexed hexagonal system with space group R3m. The active area of LiCoO2 films for electrochemical test was about 11cm2. A Li foil and 1M LiClO4 in propylene carbonate(PC) and ethylene carbonate(EC) (1:1)were used as an anode and an electrolyte, respectively. The galvanostatic charge-discharge test was carried out at constant current density ranging from 5 A/cm2 in the voltage window between 4.2 and 3.0 V. The first discharge capacity of the film is 0.35Ah/cm2-m. The cycling behavior of the LiCoO2 film is also reported.
Si-C composites were prepared by the carbonization of polyaniline (PAn) coated on silicone powder. The physical and electrochemical properties of the Si-C composites were characterized by particle-size analysis, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and battery electrochemical tests. The average particle size of Si was increased by the coating of Pan but somewhat reduced by the carbonization to give silicone-carbon composites. The co-existence of crystalline silicone and amorphous-like carbon was confirmed by XRD analyses. SEM photos showed that the silicone particles were well covered with carbonaceous materials, depending on the PAn content. Si-C$\mid$Li cells were fabricated using the Si-C composites and tested using galvanostatic charge-discharge. Si-C$\mid$Li cells gave better electrochemical properties than Si|Li cells. Si-C$\mid$Li cells using Si-C from HCl-undoped precursor PAn showed better electrochemical properties than precursor PAn doped in HCl. The addition of an electrolyte containing 4-fluoroethylene carbonate (FEC) increased the initial discharge capacity. Also, another electrochemical test, the galvanostatic charge-discharge test with GISOC (gradual increasing of the state of charge) was carried out. Si-C(Si:PAn = 50:50 wt. ratio)|Li cell showed 414 mAh/g of reversible specific capacity, 75.7% of IIE (initial intercalation efficiency), 35.4 mAh/g of IICs (surface irreversible specific capacity).

With a view to seek the influence of hollow sphere pigments of latex upon the printed color on coated paper surface, the hollow sphere pigments were compared with filled ones in a variety of experimental approaches. Colloidal properties of latices were determined by measuring zeta potential and particle size distribution. For the amphoteric filled sphere pigment of latex, the polarity was reversed from the negative side to the positive side with decreasing pH. An extraordinarily high peak in the particle size distribution of the amphoteric filled evidenced aggregation between latex particles near the isoelectric point, depending on the electrolyte concentration and pH of the suspending medium. Coated papers containing the hollow sphere pigment in their coating improved optical properties like gloss and brightness. Optical parameters solely of the coating could account for this finding. An equation derived from the Kubelka-Munk equation calculated them fro twice measurements of reflectance of a coated paper over two substrates of different reflectances. This method permitted to predict brightness of coated paper of which coat weight would be different fro the actual one. The colorimetric parameters of solid-printed surfaces of the coated papers closely related to optical and structural properties of the coated papers. The color of the printed surfaces was dominated by the brightness and the smoothness of the coated papers. The hollow sphere pigments were proved to improve optical properties of coated paper and to control minutely colorimetric parameters of printed surfaces.

Titanium and its alloys have been used in the field dental and orthopedic implants because of their excellent mechanical properties and biocompatibility. Despite these attractive properties, their passive films were somewhat bioinert in nature so that sufficient adhesion of bone cells to implant surface was delayed after surgical treatment. Recently, plasma electrolyte oxidation (PEO) of titanium metal has attracted a great deal of attention is a comparatively convenient and effective technique and good adhesion to substrates and it enhances wear and corrosion resistances and produces thick, hard, and strong oxide coatings. Silicon(Si), Zinc(Zn), and Manganese(Mn) have a beneficial effect on bone. Si in particular has been found to be essential for normal bone and cartilage growth and development. And, Zn has been shown to be responsible for variations in body weight, bone length and bone biomechanical properties. Also, Mn influences regulation of bone remodeling because its low content in body is connected with the rise of the concentration of calcium, phosphates and phosphatase out of cells. The objective of this work was research on bone-like apatite morphology on Si-Zn-Mn-hydroxyapatite coating on Ti-6Al-4V alloy by plasma electrolytic oxidation. Anodized alloys were prepared at 280V voltage in the solution containing Si, Zn, and Mn ions. The surface characteristics of PEO treated Ti-6Al-4V alloy were investigated using XRD, FE-SEM, and EDS.

Ti-6Al-4V alloy have been used for dental implant because of its excellent biocompatibility, corrosion resistance, and mechanical properties. However, the integration of such implant in bone was not in good condition to achieve improved osseointergraiton. For solving this problem, calcium phosphate (CaP) has been applied as coating materials on Ti alloy implants for hard tissue applications because its chemical similarity to the inorganic component of human bone, capability of conducting bone formation and strong affinity to the surrounding bone tissue. Various metallic elements are known to play an important role in the bone formation and also affect bone mineral characteristics. Especially, Zn is essential for the growth of the human and Zn coating has a major impact on the improvement of corrosion resistance. Plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) is a promising technology to produce porous and firmly adherent inorganic Zn containing TiO2(Zn-TiO2)coatings on Ti surface, and the a mount of Zn introduced in to the coatings can be optimized by altering the electrolyte composition. In this study, effect of Zn content on the corrosion behavior of Ti-6Al-4V alloy after plasma electrolytic oxidation were studied by SEM, EDS, XRD, AC impedance, and potentiodynamic polarization test. The potentiodynamic polarization and AC impedance tests for corrosion behaviors were carried out in 0.9% NaCl solution at similar body temperature using a potentiostat with a scan rate of 1.67 mV/s and potential range from -1500 mV to +2000 mV. Also, AC impedance was performed at frequencies ranging from 10 MHz to 100 kHz for corrosion resistance.
Fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) coated NiCrAl alloy foam is fabricated using ultrasonic spray pyrolysis deposition (USPD). To confirm the influence of the FTO layer on the NiCrAl alloy foam, we investigated the structural, chemical, and morphological properties and chemical resistance by using USPD to adjust the FTO coating time (12, 18, and 24 min). As a result, when an FTO layer was coated for 24 min on NiCrAl alloy foam, it was found to have an enhanced chemical resistance compared to those of the other samples. This improvement in the chemical resistance of using USPD NiAlCr alloy foam can be the result of the existence of an FTO layer, which can act as a protection layer between the NiAlCr alloy foam and the electrolyte and also the result of the increased thickness of the FTO layer, which enhances the diffusion length of the metal ion.

For solving this problem, calcium phosphate (CaP) has been applied as coating materials on Ti alloy implants for hard tissue applications because its chemical similarity to the inorganic component of human bone, capability of conducting bone formation and strong affinity to the surrounding bone tissue. Various metallic elements, such as strontium (Sr), magnesium (Mg), zinc (Zn), sodium (Na), silicon (Si), silver (Ag), and yttrium (Y) are known to play an important role in the bone formation and also affect bone mineral characteristics, such as crystallinity, degradation behavior, and mechanical properties. Especially, Zn is essential for the growth of the human and Zn coating has a major impact on the improvement of corrosion resistance. Plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) is a promising technology to produce porous and firmly adherent inorganic Zn containing $TiO_2(Zn-TiO_2)$coatings on Ti surface, and the a mount of Zn introduced in to the coatings can be optimized by altering the electrolyte composition. In this study, corrosion behavior of Ti-6Al-4V alloy after plasma electrolytic oxidation in solutions containing Ca, P and Zn were studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), AC impedance, and potentiodynamic polarization test. A series of $Zn-TiO_2$ coatings are produced on Ti dental implant using PEO, with the substitution degree, respectively, at 0, 5, 10 and 20%. The potentiodynamic polarization and AC impedance tests for corrosion behaviors were carried out in 0.9% NaCl solution at similar body temperature using a potentiostat with a scan rate of 1.67mV/s and potential range from -1500mV to +2000mV. In this paper, investigations of thick film $La_{0.75}Sr_{0.25}Ga_{0.8}Mg_{0.16}Fe_{0.04}O_{3-{\delta}}$ (LSGMF) cells fabricated via spin coating on either NiO-YSZ anode or $La_{0.7}Sr_{0.3}Ga_{0.6}Fe_{0.4}O_3$ (LSGF) cathode substrates are presented. A La-doped $CeO_2$ (LDC) layer is inserted between NiO-YSZ and LSGMF in order to prevent reactions from occurring during co-firing. For the LSGF cathode-supported cell, no interlayer was required because the components of the cathode are the same as those of LSGMF with the exception of Mg. An LSGMF electrolyte slurry was deposited homogeneously on the porous supports via spin coating. The current-voltage characteristics of the anode and cathode supported LSGMF cells at temperatures between $700^{\circ}C$ and $850^{\circ}C$ are described. The LSGF cathode supported cell demonstrates a theoretical OCV and a power density of ~420 mW $cm^2$ at $800^{\circ}C$, whereas the NiO-YSZ anode supported cell with the LDC interlayer demonstrates a maximum power density of ~350 mW $cm^2$ at $800^{\circ}C$, which decreased more rapidly than the cathode supported cell despite the presence of the LDC interlayer. Potential causes of the degradation at temperatures over $700^{\circ}C$ are also discussed.

Membrane electrode assembly (MEA) for polymer electrolyte fuel cell (PEFC) are commonly prepared in the research laboratory by spraying, screen-printing and brushing catalyst slurry onto membrane or other support material like carbon paper or polyimide film in a batch style. These hand applications of the catalyst slurry are painstaking process with respect to precision of catalyst loading and reproducibility. It has been generally mentioned that the adoption of continuous process is very helpful to develop the reliable product. In the present work, we report the results of using continuous type coater with doctor-blade to coat catalyst slurry for preparing the MEA catalyst layers In a faster and highly reproducible fashion. We show that while expectedly faster than batch style, the machine coater requires the use of slurry of appropriate composition and a properly selected transfer decal material in order to achieve superior MEA plat lnw loading reproducibility. To make highly viscous catalyst slurry that is imperative for using coater, we use 40wt.% Nafion solution and minimize the content of organic solvent. And the choice of proper high surface area catalyst is important in the viewpoint of making well-dispersed slurry. After catalyst coating onto the support material, we transferred the catalyst layer to both sides of Nafion membrane by hot-pressing In this case, the degree of transfer was Influenced by hot-pressing condition including temperature, pressure, and time. To compare the transferring ability, we compared so many films and detaching papers. And among the support, polyethylene terephthalate(PET) film shows the prominent result.
