Occupational Exposure to Steady Magnetic Fields and its Effect on Workers Blood Indices at an Electrolysis Unit

  • The health effects of environmental and occupational exposure to steady magnetic fields is a matter of concern. The aim of this study was to evaluate the hematologic effects of exposure to steady magnetic fields at the electrolysis unit of a Copper complex. The population under study was the workers of the electrolysis unit of the copper refinery. The average steady magnetic field in the exposure group was 2.5 mT. The blood indices of workers exposure to steady magnetic fields after adjusting for confounders showed decreased white blood cells (except neutrophils) and increase in the number and volume of platelets. Red blood cells did not show any significant difference. Exposure to steady magnetic fields even in proposed safe limits may have hematologic effects on humans. There is a necessity for more research about the safe doses of exposure to magnetic fields.

  • This study was carried out to analyze the microstructure characteristics of electrolyte membrane through XRD, SEM and AC impedance measurement for using in high temperature steam electrolysis(HTE). It was investigated that thermal stability and electric characteristics by sintering condition using dry and wet process, and confirmed growth of particle and density change by sintering temperature. The sintering temperature and behavior had an effect on the relative density of the ceramic and the average grain size. The more amount of dispersant in organic compound increase, the more the density increased. But the binder was shown opposite phenomenon. It was analyzed that electrolyte resistance and electrical characteristics using AC impedance. The electrical properties of YSZ grain boundary changed with the sintering temperature.

  • H-형의 분리 셀을 사용하여 중성 및 실온의 온화한 조건에서 조절 전위법 음전극 반응에 의한 nitroarene화합물들의 환원 짝지음 반응으로 높은 수율의 azobenzene유도체를 합성하였다. Pb또는 Pt cathode와 Pt anode를 사용하여 메탄을 용액 하에서 cyclic voltammetry에 근거하여 각 반응의 최적의 반응 조건을 결정한 후 반응을 실행하였으며, 대부분의 경우 환원 짝지음 반응은 치환기의 성질과 위치에 영향을 받지 않고 높은 수율로 성공적인 결과를 얻을 수 있었다.

Effect of the Anode-to-Cathode Distance on the Electrochemical Reduction in a LiCl-Li2O Molten Salt

  • Electrochemical reductions of $UO_2$ at various anode-to-cathode distances (1.3, 2.3, 3.2, 3.7 and 5.8 cm) were carried out to investigate the effect of the anode-to-cathode distance on the electrochemical reduction rate. The geometry of the electrolysis cell in this study, apart from the anode-to-cathode distance, was identical for all of the electrolysis runs. Porous $UO_2$ pellets were electrolyzed by controlling a constant cell voltage in molten $Li_2O-LiCl$ at $650^{\circ}C$. A steel basket containing the porous $UO_2$ pellets and a platinum plate were used as the cathode and anode, respectively. The metallic products were characterized by means of a thermogravimetric analyzer, an X-ray diffractometer and a scanning electron microscope. The electrolysis runs conducted during this study revealed that a short anode-to-cathode distance is advantageous to achieve a high current density and accelerate the electrochemical reduction process.

알칼리 수전해 수소제조의 이온 교환막 변화 분석 (A Study on the Variation of Anion Exchange Membrane of Hydrogen Generator of Alkaline Electrolysis)

  • We investigated the variation of anion exchange membrane of hydrogen generator of alkaline electrolysis. We detected the variation of elements and change of anion exchange membrane using EDS and FE-SEM. We detected two different sites of membrane because of different structure of membrane. $Sp_1$ shows that the distribution ratio of C, O, Al is 98% very higher than $Sp_2$ of 78%. Especially, the main elements of STS316 which is P, S, Fe, Ni were more detected at $Sp_2$ than $Sp_1$. We think that this result depends on the structure of membrane. This also affect the resistance, lifetime of membrane and decrease the efficiency of hydrogen production. We hope that this article is a foundation of developing of hydrogen production technology.

전기분해법(電氣分解法)을 이용(利用)한 무전해(無電解) 니켈 도금폐액(鍍金廢液)으로부터 니켈 회수(回收) (Recovery of Nickel from Electroless Plating Wastewater by Electrolysis Method)

  • 전해채취법을 이용하여 무전해 니켈 도금폐액으로부터 니켈을 회수하기 위한 실험을 수행하였다. 이를 위해 우선 가성소다를 첨가하는 방법으로 무전해 니켈 도금폐액중의 니켈을 수산화물 형태로 침전분리하였다. 또한, 니켈 수산화물을 황산 용액으로 용해시킨 니켈 수용액을 대상으로 전기분해를 실시하였다. 실험결과, 가성소다를 첨가하여 pH 10 이상으로 조절하면 99% 이상의 Ni을 수산화물로 침전시킬 수 있는 것으로 나타났다. 한편, 니켈 수용액으로부터 전해채취를 통한 Ni의 석출시 전류밀도가 증가할수록 전류효율은 감소하는 것으로 나타났다.

  • To study the effect of the mixture ratio of Ni-Pt nanocatalysts on water electrolysis characteristics in anion exchange membrane system, Ni-Pt nanocatalysts were loaded on carbon black by using a spontaneous reduction reaction of acetylacetonate compounds. The loading weight of Ni-Pt nanocatalysts on the carbon black was measured by thermogravimetric analyzer and the elemental ratio of Ni and Pt was estimated by energy dispersive x-ray analyzer. It was found that the loading weight of Ni-Pt nanoparticles was 5.36-5.95 wt%, and the loading weight increased with increasing Pt wt%. As the Ni-Pt loading weight increased, the specific surface area decreased, because Ni-Pt nanoparticles block the pores of carbon black. It was confirmed by BET analysis and dynamic vapor sorption analysis. I-V characteristics were estimated.

알칼리 수전해를 위한 상용 음이온교환막에 관한 연구 (Study on Commercially Available Anion Exchange Membrane for Alkaline Water Eectrolysis)

  • 알칼리 수전해용 격막으로 사용가능성을 평가하기 위해 5종류의 상용 음이온교환막의 열적안정성, 이온전도도, 내구성을 평가하였다. TGA (thermo-gravimetric analysis)로 분석한 열적안정성은 FAAM-PK-75와 FAAM-40 막이 다른 3종류의 AEM, AHO, AHA 막과 비교하여 좋은 성능을 보였다. 25℃와 80℃, 7 M KOH 수용액에서의 이온전도도는 AEM막이 다른 막과 비교하여 약 4~17배 높은 값을 보였다. 25℃, 7 M KOH 수용액에서 측정한 내구성은 FAAM-PK-75막이 다른 막과 비교하여 안정하였다.

  • 수소법이 제정됨에 따라 수소용품 4종이 검사대상제품으로 지정되었다. 수소용품의 종류는 수전해설비, 수소추출설비, 고정형 연료전지, 이동형 연료전지이다. 수소용품 검사를 위한 안전기준 제정은 각 수소용품별 위험요소를 정의하였고 위험요소를 예방하기 위한 안전기준을 수소용품 기준에 규정하였다. 각 수소용품 별 주요 안전기준은 수전해설비는 수소품질 및 안전제어, 수소추출설비는 독성물질 배출 방지 및 일산화탄소 배출 방지, 고정형 연료전지는 배출가스 규제 및 버너 안전성능, 이동형 연료전지는 진동안전성이 안전기준에 규정하여 안전성을 강화하였다.

태양광 발전 연계 수전해 시스템의 경제성 분석 (Techno-Economic Analysis of Water Electrolysis System Connected with Photovoltaic Power Generation)

  • Hydrogen production, hydrogen production cost, and utilization rate were calculated assuming four cases of hydrogen production system in combination of photovoltaic power generation (PV), water electrolysis system (WE), battery energy storage system (BESS), and power grid. In the case of using the PV and WE in direct connection, the smaller the capacity of the WE, the higher the capacity factor rate and the lower the hydrogen production cost. When PV and WE are directly connected, hydrogen production occurs intermittently according to time zones and seasons. In addition to the connection of PV and WE, if BESS and power grid connection are added, the capacity factor of WE can be 100%, and stable hydrogen production is possible. If BESS is additionally installed, hydrogen production cost increases due to increase in Capital Expenditures, and Operating Expenditure also increases slightly due to charging and discharging loss. Even in a hydrogen production system that connects PV and WE, linking with power grid is advantageous in terms of stable hydrogen production and improvement of capacity factor.
