Electro-Osmotic Dewatering under Electro-Osmotic Pulse Technology

  • Direct current (DC) electric fields have been used for electro-osmotic dewatering. Under DC conditions, however, the electrical contact resistance between the electrode and the dewatering material increases considerably during the process of dewatering. Such a circumstance hinders the continuation of effective electro-osmotic dewatering. To reduce this hindrance, an applied pulse electric field with periodic reversals of the electrode polarity should improve electro-osmotic dewatering. In this study, electro-osmotic dewatering under pulse conditions was experimentally investigated for electrode polarity reversals. During the dewatering process, the pulse electric field was able to reduce the hindrance caused by the DC, resulting in an increased final dewatered amount relative to that under a DC electric field. For a constant applied voltage, the reversed polarity condition, under which the electric current passing through the material was almost unchanged with time, yielded the maximum final dewatered amount. This technique can be used to enhance drainage from a water storage facility during a period of extreme drought and the seawater desalination plants using reverse osmosis in drought stricken coastal regions.

A Study of Post Electrode Formation by Microwave Sintering in LTCC Substrate (마이크로파 소결법을 이용한 LTCC 기판 Post 전극 형성에 관한 연구)

  • This study is focused on the effect of the surface properties for the post electrode, which is used in pad formation consisted of SMT such as IC, passive component, combined with fired LTCC substrate, We carried out the surface microstructure of sintered electrode and the basic reliability evaluations with sample fired by microwave sintering to solve the problems occurred in post electrode by electric sintering. We evaluated surface densification status of post electrode according to various conditions of microwave sintering. In additions, it is obtained strong effect on blister improvement of post electrode because of over-sintering and the insufficient out gas in bum out process. As a result of adhesion strength, we confirmed $44.3N/mm^2$ in microwave sintering and $34.5N/mm^2$ in electric sintering, respectively. This result will be used for the basic reliability test. Finally, microwave sintering seems to be economic in process time with 30 min compared to electric sintering with 10 hr. In terms of Mass production and efficiency, microwave sintering are excepted to be higher than electric sintering.

Analytical solutions for density functionally gradient magneto-electro-elastic cantilever beams

  • The general solution for two-dimensional magneto-electro-elastic media in terms of four harmonic displacement functions is proposed analytically. The expressions of specific solutions of magneto-electro-elastic plane problems with specific body forces are derived. Finally, based on the general solution in the case of distinct eigenvalues and the specific solution for density functionally gradient media, two kinds of beam problems with body forces depending only on the z or x coordinate are solved by the trial-and-error method.

  • In this paper, the electro-chemical-machining characteristics of Ni-Ti Shape Memory Alloy(SMA) was investigated. From the experimental results, the optimal electro chemical machining conditions for satisfying the machining quality(fine surface & high recovery stress)might be confirmed. And it was concluded that optical electro chemical condition for Ni-Ti SMA could be obtained at approximately 100% current efficiency and high frequency pulse current.

  • A high efficiency half bridge converter for PDP in whole operation load range is proposed in this paper. The ZVS(Zero Voltage Switching) in whole load range and high efficiency in low load range is achieved because the proposed converter is switched by fixed frequency asymmetrical duty ratio and resonant operation.

  • Recently a study of Virtual-Reality becomes active. Expectation to 3-D reproduction technology rises with it. Electro-holography using Spatial light modulator (SLM) attracts attention, because natural 3-D animated image is provided. In this paper recent development of 3D-TV by Electro-holography is reported. We consider the conditions to holographic TV such as input, transmission and display systems. Also we consider about fast hologram calculation because It is important to execute hologram calculation at high speed to realize the real time electro-holography. Then we consider the possibility of real time holography.
