A large-capacity wireless power system is a technology that transmits electric power of kW or more in a noncontact type. Electric cars, electric buses, and electric railways. In order to increase the power transmission efficiency, a resonance method using a frequency of kHz is applied and the efficiency is 80 ~ 90%. In this case, the loss is 10 ~ 20% other than efficiency, and corresponds to several hundreds of W to several kW in kW class wireless power transmission. 35 kW wireless feed system environment, and induced current in the nearby conductive part was measured. As a result of analysis, it was confirmed that induction phenomenon is higher as the loop configuration of the conductive part per area is dense. The increase of the induced current in the mesh loop is characterized by the density of the nearby conductive part having a permeability per unit area. The concentration of the magnetic field by the permeability is increased and the induction phenomenon causing the induction current is increased. It was confirmed that induction phenomenon increases by about 2.7 times when 9 times dense structure is formed.
This paper proposes the modeling and control strategy to track the MPPs of hybrid PV and Wind power systems, using a new dual input boost converter. The dual input power conditioning system with an independent MPPT control scheme is introduced with minimum number of circuit elements in order to reduce the switching loss, size and cost of the system. Since the operating conditions for the PV and Wind power systems are very distinct from each other, an efficient and superior control system is required to track the MPPs of both renewable sources with the use of a simply-structured single-ended single-inductor converter. The design of Power-Conditioning System (PCS) and detail control strategy are presented in this paper. To provide independent tracking of MPPs, a variable duty-cycle control strategy is employed for the wind system and a variable frequency strategy is employed for the PV system. Finally, the proposed dual-input converter for hybrid power conditioning system is implemented and the hardware test results are presented. From the hardware experiment, it is concluded that the proposed system successfully tracks the MPPs of both of the renewable power systems independently.
In this paper, two types of vertical SIT(Static Induction Transistor) structures are proposed to improve their electrical characteristics including the blocking voltage. Besides, the two dimensional numerical simulations were carried out using ISE-TCAD to verify the validity of the device and examine the electrical characteristics. First, a trench gate region oxide power SIT device is proposed to improve forward blocking characteristics. Second, a trench gate-source region power SIT device is proposed to obtain more higher forward blocking voltage and forward blocking characteristics at the same size. The two proposed devices have superior electrical characteristics when compared to conventional device. In the proposed trench gate oxide power SIT, the forward blocking voltage is considerably improved by using the vertical trench oxide and the forward blocking voltage is 1.5 times better than that of the conventional vertical power SIT. In the proposed trench gate-source oxide power SIT, it has considerable improvement in forward blocking characteristics which shows 1500V forward blocking voltage at -10V of the gate voltage. Consequently, the proposed trench oxide power SIT has the superior stability and electrical characteristics than the conventional power SIT.
Nonlinear electronic loads draw harmonic currents from the power grids that can cause energy loss, miss-operation of power equipment, and other serious problems in the power grids. This paper proposes a harmonic compensation method using multiple distributed resources (DRs) such as small distributed generators (DGs) and battery energy storage systems (BESSs) that are integrated to the power grids through power inverters. For harmonic compensation, DRs should inject additional apparent power to the grids so that certain DRs, especially operated in proximity to their rated power, may possibly reach their maximum current limits. Therefore, intelligent coordination methods of multiple DRs are required for efficient harmonic current compensation considering the power margins of DRs, energy cost, and the battery state-of-charge. The proposed method is based on fuzzy multi-objective optimization so that DRs can cooperate with other DRs to eliminate harmonic currents with optimizing mutually conflicting multi-objectives.
A hybrid system that uses a parallel combination of wind turbine and fuel cell is modeled. Wind energy source is characterized by its intermittent and variable nature. The output power generated by the fuel cell is stable and can be properly controlled. Therefore, fuel cell system can be added to the wind turbine system for the purpose of ensuring continuous power flow. Fuel cell helps to compensate power and regulate the frequency in power system. Simulation results show the effect of the hybrid system on power regulation. The excess power generated by the wind turbine was directed to an electrolyzer to generate hydrogen and the power deficit was compensated by the fuel cell.

Wireless power transfer via coupled magnetic resonances has been a hot research topic in recent years. In addition, the number of related devices has also been increasing. However, reverse signals transfer is often required in addition to wireless power transfer. The structure of the circuit for a wireless power transfer system via coupled magnetic resonances is analyzed. The advantages and disadvantages of both parallel compensation and series compensation are listed. Then the compensation characteristics of the inductor, capacitor and resistor were studied and an appropriate compensation method was selected. The reverse signals can be transferred by controlling the compensation of the resistor. In addition, it can be demodulated by extracting the change of the primary current. A 3.3 MHz resonant frequency with a 100 kHz reverse signals transfer system platform was established in the laboratory. Experimental results demonstrate that wireless power and reverse signals can be transferred synchronously.

The solution of the power flow is one of the most important problems in electrical power systems. These traditional methods such as Gauss-Seidel method and Newton-Raphson (NR) method have had drawbacks up to now such as initial values, abnormal operating solutions and divergences in heavy loads. In order to overcome theses problems, the power flow solution incorporating genetic algorithm (GA) is introduced in this paper. General operator of genetic algorithm, arithmetic crossover, and non-uniform mutation operator of GA are suggested to solve the power flow problem. While abnormal solution cannot be obtained by a NR method, multiple power flow solution can be obtained by a GA method. With a heavy load, both normal solution and abnormal solution can be obtained by a proposed method. In this paper, a floating number representation instead of the binary number representation is introduced for accuracy. Simulation results have been compared with traditional methods.
With the increase of electrical consumption and the unbalance of power demand and supply, power reserve rate is getting smaller and also the reliability of the power supply is getting deteriorated. Under this circumstance, the electrical energy storage (EES) System is considered as one of essential countermeasure for demand side management. This paper proposes efficient evaluation algorithms of multiple functions for EES systems, especially the secondary battery energy storage systems, in the case where they are interconnected with the power distribution systems. It is important to perform the economic evaluation for the new energy storage systems in a quantitative manner, because they are very costly right now. In this paper, the multiple functions of EES systems such as load levelling, effective utilization of power distribution systems and uninterruptible power supply are classified, and then the quantitative evaluation methods for their functions are proposed. From the case studies, it is verified that EES systems installed at distribution systems in a dispersed manner have multiple functions involved with direct and indirect benefits and also they can be expected to introduce to distribution systems with respects to economical point of view.

The transient characteristics of the tri-axial High Temperature Superconducting (HTS) power cable are different from those of a conventional power cable depending on whether the cable is under a steady or transient state due to the quench. Verification using simulation tools is required to confirm both the characteristics of the cable and the effect of the cable when it is applied to a real utility. However, a component for the cable has not been provided in simulation tools; thus the RTDS-based model component of the tri-axial HTS power cable was developed, and a simulation was performed under the transient state. The considered properties of model component include resistance, reactance and temperature. Simulation results indicate the variation of HTS power cable condition. The results are used for the transient characteristic analysis and stability verification of the tri-axial HTS power cable. In the future, the RTDS-based model component of the cable will be used to implement the hardware-in-the-loop simulation with a protection device.
The power distribution system is 22.9 kV-y neutral point multi-ground one in our country. So, if conducting materials contacted, to the power line electrical equipment faults or stoppage of electrical power supply happened in the line. contacts are caused by magpie or its nest materials, especially, electrical power incidents by magpie from February to May, season layed egg, is high as 30% as. It is important to electrical power supplier to protect electrical power equipment caused by magpie. From now, KEPCO have tried to protect electrical power equipment faults caused by magpie using several methods, but have not acquired good results and continued to withdraw the nest. Recently, nature environment protection expand to around country and KEPCO also changed the nest withdrawal method to new pre-protection method coexisted with magpie, "Environmental Affinitive Pre-protection Counterplan". Therefore, we planned environmental affinitive pre-protection equipment, set test line. Also, after analyzed its effects during 1 year, we satisfied with results, and then expanded to other test lines and regions.
