  • Traffic noise annoyance in dwelling area like private houses and apartment is becoming very important issue nowadays in South Korea. In this paper frequency analysis of the traffic noise was performed. Based on sound pressure levels analyses and its frequency content specific requirements for component of active noise control systems are formulated. Active compensational loudspeaker, microphone front end and DSP design were analysed, considered and proposed. Components specifications and design solutions are verified using modelling and experimental technique.

능동형 방음벽 개발을 위한 방음벽 디자인 연구 (A Study on the Design of Barriers for the Active Noise Barrier Development)

  • In this paper survey and analysis of recent trends in noise barriers and noise measurements and assessments were conducted for providing design basis of ANC barriers. Looking at the results, transparent barrier(glass) has received the most attention in domestic and foreign countries, because it has a harmony with the surrounding environment and easy installation in a small space. For optimal barrier design using computer simulation, reliability of simulation has been verified and classified into 5 groups, according to barrier's upper cross section. Evaluation results of barrier's performance and design using computer simulation are as follows : In the case of the "B-type" barrier, it has improved maximum 2.5dB(A) at each point(R1~R6) and have a good workability. Therefore, "B-type" Barriers applied to the next active noise barrier system will be possible.

  • Energized power transformers in substations make unwelcome noises which propagate to nearby residential areas. As the excessive noise level become a target of public grievance than ever, utilities are seeking solutions to it. This paper introduce a power transformer noise prediction program which can give utilities effective solutions. Once a noise source is given, the program calculates the propagated noise level at certain points. The estimated result is rendered as noise contour map. To validate the accuracy of the program, the predicted noises are compared to measured one in real substations and proven to be acceptable within a margin of 5 percent.

Co-FXLMS 알고리즘을 이용한 유도전동기의 능동소음제어 (Active Noise Control of Induction Motor using Co-FXLMS Algorithm)

  • In this study, the active noise control experiment has been performed using induction motor noises. While the noises were measured, a induction motor was operated in different speed. For the simulation of ANC(Active Noise Control), test-bed is composed a multi-channel ANC system was constructed. In order to compare the control performance, we performed noise reduction simulations of ANC by Co-FXLMS algorithm and FXLMS algorithm. Through the simulation results, we confirmed that convergence performance and noise decrease effect of the proposed Co-FXLMS algorithm have been improved from existing FXLMS algorithm.

A Study of False Contour Noise in Moving Images through Consideration of the Phosphor Decay Time of AC PDP

  • The dynamic false contour noise was analyzed with consideration for the phosphor decay time of an ac PDP by computer simulation based on the measurement of the 1/10 phosphor decay times of the primary colors red, green and blue at the main wavelengths of each phosphor. The noise level of dynamic false contour is strongly dependent on phosphor decay time. The noise level decreases incrementally with the phosphor decay time, whereas the noise width increases. The moving velocity of an object does not affect the noise level. The entire experiment was performed under the condition of 8 subfields ADS driving scheme, 2.5[${\mu}sec$] scan speed, and 5[${\mu}sec$] sustain period with VGA grade panel.

  • When a squirrel cage induction motor is loaded, the magnetic noise can increase depending on the load current. It is due to the variation of air gap harmonic fluxes from the rotor current induced by loading. This unfavorable noise can be anticipated by analysing the radial force waves in the air gap, the mode shapes of them, and stator core natural frequencies at each mode. With the experimental tests with the different rotor slot numbers, the variation of magnetic noise depending on the load current is studied and the method to reduce the magnetic noise is suggested with the newly developed magnetic noise analysis program.

  • As automation equipment and electronic device progresses, the importance of power quality is more increasing. This paper represents the analysis and suppression about the causes of trouble by the inverter's ON/OFF noise in plant in order to prevent damage resulting in a secondary damage to conduct precise diagnosis and effective noise reduction. The countermeasure as a reduced carrier frequency and the LC resonant filter had been applied and confirmed the effective results to solve the trouble of noise.

  • In this paper, experiments were conducted to validate the importance and necessity of modeling. The modeling was performed using 120Hz and 280Hz noise of KTX main interior noise frequency. After the modeling, In order to solve the system instability by the additional path that exists between the control speaker and the error microphone, the secondary path was estimated. Next, simulations were performed to verify the modeling's necessity and importance. Thought the simulation results, we confirmed that the system with the modeling is more effective for noise reduction than without the modeling.

  • The switch mode power supply is a source of EMI with other equipment as well as with its own proper operation because of rapid changes in voltages and currents within a switching converter. The EMI is transmitted in two forms: radiated and conducted. Conducted noise consists of two categories known as the differential mode and the common mode. Common mode noise current is a major source of EMI in the switch mode Power supply. Recently, a current balancing technique has been studied to reduce the common mode noise. This paper investigates the reduction of common mode noise according to a node expansion of the switch mode power supply which is based on a current balancing technique. In this paper, seven PCB patterns of the forward converter are manufactured and experimented.

  • Preserving image features, edges and details in the process of impulsive noise filtering is an important problem. To avoid image blurring, only corrupted pixels must be filtered. In this paper, we propose an effective impulse noise detection method using Self-Organizing Neural Network(SONN) which applies median filter selectively for removing random-valued impulse noises while preserving image features, edges and details. Using a $3\times3$ window, we obtain useful local features with which impulse noise patterns are classified. SONN is trained with sample image patterns and each pixel pattern is classified by its local information in the image. The results of the experiments with various images which are the noise range of $5-15\%$ show that our method performs better than other methods which use multiple threshold values for impulse noise detection.
