  • Porcelain insulators have generally been used in Korea but polymer insulators which are superior in that they are light weight, explosion proof, impact proof, economical with construction characteristics, have been in use for the 154kV transmission line since 1999 following a worldwide trend towards the reduced weight, simplification and compact usage of new material insulators. However there have been approximately 500 cases of forest fires in Korea, so the transmission lines that for the most part pass through mountainous areas have been highly effected and the highly polymerized compound polymer insulator has raised concern about reliability in cases of exposure to forest fires. Therefore for the reliability assessment of the effect of forest fires on polymer insulators, mechanical and electrical characteristics are analyzed by an artificial flare test device and transmission facility surrounding conditions along with forest fire characteristics are surveyed. In addition to this, actual 90kV energized transmission line was tested with an artificial forest fire and the expanded usage of polymer insulators is presented through the analysis of mechanical and electrical characteristics and physical properties, and a study on the influence of forest fires on polymer insulators.

안전소자를 이용한 유도회로의 점화한계 개선에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Improved Ignition Limit for Inductive Circuits with Safety Components)

  • This paper describes that the improved effects on the ignition limit are studied by parallel safety components for propane-air 5.25vol.% mixture gas in low voltage inductive circuits. The experimental devices are used in the IEC type spark ignition test apparatus. The improved effects on the ignition limit are respectively obtained as the maximum rising rate of 650%, 1,080% by composing parallel circuits between inductance and safety components (condenser and diode) as compared with disconnecting inductance with the safety components. The more values of inductance the higher improved effects of ignition limit rise. This improving method for the ignition limit is not concerned with the safety components. Diode appears to effect greatly better than condenser. It is considered that the result can be used for not only data for researches and development of intrinsically safe explosion-proof machines which are applied equipment and detectors used in hazardous areas but also for data for its equipment tests.

  • 페이로드 페어링은 외부환경으로부터 위성 및 전자 탑재물들을 보호한다. 그리고 위성 분리 전에 페이로드 페어링은 투하 된다. 페어링 분리를 위하여 전단볼트로 체결된 체결프레임이 페이로드 페어링에 조립되어 있다. 전단볼트의 역할은 전체 구조하중을 견디며, 화약폭발력에 의해 절단이 된다. 그리고 전단볼트가 절단된 후 전단볼트로 연결되었던 체결 프레임은 분리된다. 본 논문에서는 전단볼트 설계에 대한 구조시험과 해석을 수행하였다. 구조시험은 체결 프레임을 포함한 하드웨어에 압축, 굽힘, 전단하중을 부가하였다. 시험결과 전단볼트는 비행하중 지지를 위한 구조강도와 화약폭발에 의해 절단되는데 요구되는 낮은 강도 조건을 만족하였다.

Kinetic and Thermodynamic Features of Combustion of Superfine Aluminum Powders in Air

  • An experimental study on the combustion of superfine aluminum powders (average particle diameter, a$_{s}$: ∼0.1 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$) in air is reported. The formation of aluminum nitride during the combustion of aluminum in air and the influence of the combustion scenario on the structures and compositions of the final products are in the focus of this study. The experiments were conducted in an air (pressure: 1 atm). Superfine aluminum powders were produced by the wire electrical explosion method. Such superfine aluminum powder is stable in air but once ignited it can burn in a self-sustaining way due to its low bulk: density (∼0.1 g/㎤) and a low thermal conductivity. During combustion, the temperature and radiation were measured and the actual burning process was recorded by a video camera. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and chemical analysis were performed on the both initial powders and final products. It was found that the powders, ignited by local heating, burned in a two-stage self-propagating regime. The products of the first stage consisted of unreacted aluminum (-70 mass %) and amorphous oxides with traces of AlN. After the second stage the AlN content exceeded 50 mass % and the residual Al content decreased to ∼10 mass %. A qualitative discussion is given on the kinetic limitation for AlN oxidation due to rapid condensation and encapsulation of gaseous AlN.N.

대구시내 종합병원에 입원한 화상환자의 화상원인과 현장에서 취한 응급처치 (Causes of Burn and Emergency Care on the Spot for the Patients Admitted to Three Hospitals in Taegu)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the causes of burn and emergency cares taken on the spot for the burn patient. Study population included 161 burn patients admitted to 2 university hospitals and 1 general hospital in Taegu from November 1, 1987 to April 30, 1988. Patients or guardians were interviewed with a structured questionnare. Out of 161 burn patients 111(68.9%)were males and 50(31.1%) females. Preschool children of 1-4 years old accounted for 29.8% of the total patients. Burns of children under 15 years of age took place at home in 91.0%, while 48.3% of burns of adult (15 years and over)males occurred at the working place, and 68.0% of adult females occurred at the home. Out of total burns occurred at home 39.8% took place at kitchen/dining room and 24.1% in the room. The most common cause of burns in children was the boiling water or hot food (74.3%). In adults the common causes were electrical burn(22.4%), hot water or food(19.0%) and explosion(12.1%) for males, and hot water or food(32.0%) and explosion (20.0%) for females. Common emergency cares for the burn taken on the spot were undressing(64.6%), pouring Soju(liquor)(13.7%), and pouring cold water(5.0%). There were a few cases who applied ash, soy or salt. To prevent burn, it is recommended to remodel the traditional kitchen and coal-briquet hole, to strengthen the safety control of LP Gas and LN Gas supply, to educate the public for the handling method for such gases, to strengthen the occupational safety control, to improve the safety device for the electric wire and socket, and to limit the temperature of hot water at home and public baths.

정전기 방전 평가를 위한 간이형 도구 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development of Simulating Tool for Evaluation of Electrostatic Discharge)

  • Explosion and fire cause about 30 reported industrial major accidents a year by ignition source which discharge of electrostatic generated to flammable gas, vapor, dust and mixtures. It brings economically and humanly very large loss that accident was caused by fire and explosion from electrostatic discharge. Thus, it is very important that electrostatic discharge energy is to be control below not to be igniting flammable mixtures. There are two kinds of analysis model for electrostatic discharge, human body model and machine model. Human body model is available the parameter of human's electrical equivalent that capacitance is 100 pF, resistance is $1.5k{\Omega}$. To simulate and visualize the electrostatic discharge from human body need a very expensive and high voltage simulator. In this paper, we measured the value of capacitance and resistance concerned with test materials and sizing of specimen and the value of charged voltage concerned with test specimen and distance to develop an electrostatic charge/discharge simulating tool for teaching with which concerned industrial employee and students. The result of experiments, we conformed that the minimum ignition energy of methane-oxygen mixtures meets well the equation $W=1/2CV^2$, and found out that the insulating material and sizing of equivalent value having human body mode are the poly ethylene of 200 mm and 300 mm of diameter. Developed electrostatic charge/discharge simulating tool has many merits; simple mechanism, low cost, no need of electric power and so on.

  • 리튬이온 배터리는 높은 에너지 밀도 빠른 충전조건 긴 사이클수명의 특성으로 여러 분야에서 사용되고 있다. 하지만 리튬이온 배터리는 과충전, 과방전, 물리적손상, 고온에서의 사용은 배터리 수명 감소와 보호회로 손상에 의한 화재 및 폭발에 의한 인명피해를 입힐 수 있다. 이러한 배터리의 위험성을 낮추며 배터리 성능을 향상시키기 위해서는 충전 및 방전 과정에서의 특성들을 분석하고 이해하여야 한다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 배터리 충방전기와 시뮬레이터를 활용하여 리튬이온 배터리의 충전 및 방전 특성을 분석하여 과충전 과방전에 따른 배터리 수명 감소와 보호회로 손상에 의한 화재 및 폭발에 의한 인명피해를 줄이고자 한다.

  • An energy storage system is composed of lithium-ion batteries in modern applications. Batteries are regarded as storage devices for renewable and residual energy. The failure of batteries can cause the performance reduction and explosion of battery systems. High maintenance cost is essential when dealing with the problem of battery safety. Therefore an accurate health diagnosis is required to ensure the high reliability of battery systems. A battery pack is a combination of single cells in series and parallel connections. A battery pack has to consider various factors to assess battery health. Battery health involves conventional factors and additional factors, such as cell-to-cell imbalance. For large applications, state-of-health (SOH) can be inaccurate because of the lack of factors that indicate the state of the battery pack. In this study, six characterization factors are proposed for improving the SOH estimation of battery packs. The six proposed characterization factors can be regarded as health indicators (HIs). The six HIs are applied to the principal component analysis (PCA) algorithm. To reflect information regarding capacity, voltage, and temperature, the PCA algorithm extracts new degradation factors by using the six HIs. The new degradation factors are applied to a multiple regression model. Results show the advancement and improvement of SOH estimation.

  • This paper presents the electrical properties of PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) nozzle for circuit breaker. PTFE has been used widely as a nozzle material for circuit breaker. In the arcing environment in a circuit breaker, radiation is considered to be the major energy transport mechanism from the arc to the wall. The fraction of the radiation power is emitted out of the arc and reaches the nozzle wall, causing ablation at the surface and in the depth of the wall. The energy concentration in the material lead to the depolymerization and eventually lead to the generation of decomposed gas as well as some isolated carbon particles. The generation of the decomposed gas in the depth of the material causes inner explosion. The surface of nozzle becomes uneven. The flow of gas is not uniform due to the unevenness of the surface. Adding some fillers into PTFE is expected to be efficient for improving the endurability against radiation. In this experiment, three kinds of fillers that have endurance in the high temperature environment were added into PTFE. Dielectric constant, dissipation factor, electrical resistivity and dielectric strength of PTFE composites were investigated.

  • Explosive Magnetic Generator of Frequency(EMGF)는 고폭화약의 폭발을 이용하여 화약의 폭발 에너지를 전자기 에너지로 변환 시키면서 초고주파의 강한 전자파를 발생시키는 효율적인 방법으로 연구되고 있다. 이 때 발생하는 전자파의 물리적 원인은 현재까지 명확하게 규명되어 있지 않은데, 단순한 시변 등가회로 해석만으로는 이러한 고주파 발진을 설명하기 어려운 것으로 알려져 있다. 이 논문에서는 기존에 널리 받아 들여 지고 있는 지수 감소적인 시변 인덕턴스 변화 모델에 대해서 자장압축효과를 고려한 유한요소 해석을 통해 문제점을 분석하고 보다 정확한 인덕턴스 변화 모델의 경향성에 대해서 제시하고자 한다. 그리고 이렇게 제시된 새로운 인덕턴스 변화 모델을 사용한 EMGF 출력 시뮬레이션을 통해 새로운 인덕턴스 변화 모델이 출력에 미치는 영향을 분석한다.
