교량용 탄성받침의 설계압축응력에 대한 고찰 (The Design Criteria of Elastomeric Bearing for Highway Bridges)

  • Elastomeric bearing is used as one of the most useful way for isolation structures, because the horizontal stiffness is much lower than the vertical stiffness. The quality of Elastomeric bearing depends on the vulcanization procedure to manufacture, which produces the elasticity of the rubber from the compound of rubber and sulphur. The durability of Elastomeric bearing is affected by the deterioration due to ozone and ultra-violet attack. but the durability during the design life of bridges can be assured by the sufficient size of the bearing in spite of the deterioration in surface. In the design criteria of Elastomeric bearing, the stability of the bearings is evaluated by shear strain due to compression, lateral displacement, and rotation. The question how soft rubber can sustain heavy structure is now able to be solved by Ultimate capacity test of Laminated elastomeric Bearings, which results 1,200kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ of the max. compressive stress and this shows what a sufficient safety factor Elastomeric bearing has!

Analysis of fiber-reinforced elastomeric isolators under pure "warping"

  • As a relatively new type of multi-layered rubber-based seismic isolators, fiber-reinforced elastomeric isolators (FREIs) are composed of several thin rubber layers reinforced with flexible fiber sheets. Limited analytical studies in literature have pointed out that "warping" (distortion) of reinforcing sheets has significant influence on buckling behavior of FREIs. However, none of these studies, to the best knowledge of authors, has investigated their warping behavior, thoroughly. This study aims to investigate, in detail, the warping behavior of strip-shaped FREIs by deriving advanced analytical solutions without utilizing the commonly used "pressure", incompressibility, inextensibility and the "linear axial displacement variation through the thickness" assumptions. Studies show that the warping behavior of FREIs mainly depends on the (i) aspect ratio (shape factor) of the interior elastomer layers, (ii) Poisson's ratio of the elastomer and (iii) extensibility of the fiber sheets. The basic assumptions of the "pressure" method as well as the commonly used incompressibility assumption are valid only for isolators with relatively large shape factors, strictly incompressible elastomeric material and nearly inextensible fiber reinforcement.

  • 본 연구에서는 비선형 유한요소법을 사용하여 헬리콥터용 구형 탄성체베어링을 설계하였다. 탄성체베어링은 헬리콥터 로터허브의 주요부품으로 로터블레이드의 플래핑운동, 래그운동, 피치운동의 힌지 역할을 한다. 탄성체베어링은 고무판과 금속판으로 구성된다. 탄성체 베어링은 고무의 탄성변형을 이용하여 힌지 역할을 하기 때문에 강성설계가 중요하다. 따라서 탄성체베어링은 로터허브 베어링의 강성요구 조건을 만족하도록 설계되어야한다. 본 연구에서는 구형의 탄성체베어링의 효율적인 설계를 위하여 유한요소모델 생성 알고리즘을 개발하고, 단일 고무판의 강성 특성을 분석을 수행하였다. 끝으로, 본 연구에서 설계한 탄성체베어링의 헬리콥터 로터허브용으로 적합한지 검증하였다.

  • The elastomeric O-ring is the most-commonly-used seal due to its excellent sealing capacity, and its availability in various costs and sizes; furthermore, its importance has lasted over a long duration. However, a dearth of research exists in Korea regarding the elastomeric O-ring and the corresponding techniques. The constituent parts of elastomeric rubber are important; to determine their properties, the uni-axial tension and equi-biaxial tension need to be tested. Also, the non-linear analysis method reduces the design cost. An O-ring failure causes leaks and vibration. In this paper, foreign objects are used to affect an O-ring and its performance so that all angles of the O-ring design can be considered. This paper presents a solution for the O-ring-failure problem using a finite-element analysis.

  • 구조물의 내진 성능 향상을 위해 현재 종종 사용되어지고 있는 기초분리장치인 적층고베어링과 납-고무 베어링의 내진성능을 실험적으로 파악하였다 베어링의 전단 변형률 또는 가해진 수직 하중이 클수록 베어링의 전단 강성은 감소하며 가력 속도에 대한 영향을 무시할 만하다. 베어링은 순수압축력에는 강하며 인장력에는 그 반대이다.

  • 가스와 증기에 대한 투과성(Permeability to gases and Vapors)은 고무 제품을 타이어 튜브나 다이아후램(diaphragm)과 같은 제품으로 사용하고자 할 때 아주 중요한 특성이다. 모든 고무는 가스와 증기에 대하여 투과성이 있다. 그러나 그 투과 속도는 고무 재질에 따라 아주 다르다. 일반적으로 실리콘 고무의 투과성이 제일 크고, 그 다음으로 NR, EPDM, SBR, CR, NBR, FPM, ECO, IIR 순이다. 이러한 투과성은 같은 원료고무를 사용해도 사용 배합약품의 종류에 따라 크게 다를 수도 있다. 고무와 기체와의 메커니즘은 발포고무에 매우 중요하게 되어 이에 대한 연구$^{1-7}$는 많이 이루어졌으나 고무의 차단성에 대한 연구는 그리 많지 않다. 고무소재의 투과성 또는 차단성 기능을 주기위하여 나노복합탄성체$^8$의 기술 동향 및 코팅에 의한 기능성 향상$^{9-13}$을 하거나 열가소성탄성체 본문에서 적용하는 기술이 있는데 자동차에 사용되는 액체 및 기체 차단용 고무부품에 대하여 몇가지 소개하여 본다.

교정용 천연 및 합성 고무 탄성재의 이완양태에 관한 연구 (RELAXATION OF ORTHODONTIC ELASTICS, ELASTOMERIC MODULES AND CHASMS)

  • The present study was performed to evaluate the relaxation patterns of rubber elastics, elastomeric modules and chains stored in the water bath. Initial loading profiles were established for extension of $100\%,\;200\%$ of their original length for elastomeric chains and of 21, 28, 35, 42, 49mm for rubber elastics and elastomeric modules. The tests were performed on materials stored in distilled water at $37^{\circ}C$ and extraoral elastics stored in dry state at room temperature, at 0 hour, 1 hour, 6 hours, 1 day, 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, and 4 weeks, respectively. The following results were drawn: 1. The relaxation of rubber elastics manifested no correlation with increments of the extension distances, but showed correlation with time lapse. Remaining forces of rubber elastics carne out $84.6-98.52\%$ after 1 day, $70.92-89.31\%$ after 3 weeks of period. 2. The relaxation of elastomers manifested no correlation with increments of the extension distances, however represented considerable relaxation with time lapse as rapid relaxation after 1 hour and then gradual relaxations with time lapse. Modules relaxed much more than chains. $60.58-67.05\%$ of remaining forces for chains and $37.77-65.17\%$ for modules after 1 hour were turned out, and $51.48-62.22\%$ for chains and $8.04-25.15\%$ for modules after 3 weeks as well. 3. Permanent deformation rates of rubber elastics could not be measured with present investigation, but elastomers underwent severe deformations. 4. $3-9\%$ of permanent deformations for chains, $3-10\%$ for modules at 0 hour were turned out, and $25-30\%$ for chains, $96-145\%$ for modules after 3 weeks as well.
