  • Tsunami take away life, wash houses away and bring devastation to social infrastructures such as breakwaters, bridges and ports. The targeted coastal structure object in this study can be damaged mainly by the tsunami force together with foundation ground failure due to scouring and liquefaction. The increase of excess pore water pressure composed of oscillatory and residual components may reduce effective stress and, consequently, the seabed may liquefy. If liquefaction occurs in the seabed, the structure may sink, overturn, and eventually increase the failure potential. In this study, the solitary wave was generated using 2D-NIT(Two-Dimensional Numerical Irregular wave Tank) model, and the dynamic wave pressure acting on the seabed and the estimated surface boundary of the vertical revetment. Simulation results were used as an input data in a finite element computer program(FLIP) for elasto-plastic seabed response. The time and spatial variations in excess pore water pressure, effective stress, seabed deformation, structure displacement and liquefaction potential in the seabed were estimated. From the results of the analysis, the stability of the vertical revetment was evaluated.

In this study, the bore was generated using the water level difference, its propagation and interaction with a vertical revetment analyzed by applying 2D-NIT(Two-Dimensional Numerical Irregular wave Tank) model, and the dynamic wave pressure acting on the seabed and the surface boundary of the vertical revetment estimated by this model. Simulation results were used as input data in a finite element computer program(FLIP) for elasto-plastic seabed response. • Manufacture of fishing vessel is needed the effective material for light, strength, fire and corrosion of water in order to improve durability by high-speed and fishing. These fishing vessel can be divided into FRP and AI alloys fishing vessel. FRP fishing vessel is light and effective for strength but highly ignited and susceptible to heat during the manufacturing ship by-produce noxious component for human. In the case of a scrapped ship, it cause environmental pollution. On the other hand, aluminum is a material in return for FRP and has merit of high-strength and lightness. It's more heat proof and durable than FRP and superior to prevent from corrosion. Al alloys fishing vessel development is rising as an urgent matter. But, al alloy has some defect of bad weldability, welding transformation, cracks and overcost of construction. Therefore this study is to develop the new welding joint shape solving aluminum defects and mechanical behavior. First of all, strength was compared and reviewed by analysis of plate, stiffen plate, new model simplified by using plate theory. On the base of this result, plate and new model of temperature distribution, weld residual stress and strength of tensile, compressive force were compared and reviewed by finite element computer program has been developed to deal with heat conduction and thermal elasto plastic problem. Also, new model is proved application possibility and excellent mechanic by strength comparison is established to tensile testing result.

  • This paper is performed to examine the effect of creep during the primary consolidation and the applicability of the Yin's EVP (Elasto-Visco-Plastic) model. In ordinary consolidation theories using the elastic model, the primary consolidation process can be expressed but the secondary consolidation process cannot. It is due to the viscosity, which can express the secondary consolidation, and is sometimes related to the scale effect (difference of the thickness of clay layer between laboratory sample and field condition) such as hypotheses Type A and Type B shown by Ladd et al. (1977). Usually, the existence of the creep during the primary consolidation has been conformed and the Type B is well acceped. On the other hand, from the large-scaled consolidation tests the intermediate characteristic between Type A and Type B was proposed as Type C by Aboshi (1973). In this study, to clarify the effect of creep on the settlement-time relation during the primary consolidation in detail, Type B consolidation tests were performed using the separate-type consolidation test apparatus for a peat and clay. Then the test results were analyzed by using Yin's EVP Model (Yin and Graham, 1994). In conclusion, followings were obtained. At the end of primary consolidation, the compression for the subspecimens should not be the same because of the difference of the excess pore water pressure dissipation rate. And the average settlement measured by the separate-type consolidometer coincides with the analyzed one using the Yin's EVP model. As for the dissipation of the excess pore water pressure, however, the measured excess pore water pressure dissipates faster compared with the Yin's model.
