The optimal parameters for the fluid-structure interaction analysis using the Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) for fluids and finite elements for structures, respectively, are explored, and the effectiveness of the simulations with those parameters is validated by solving several open surface fluid problems. For the optimization of the Equation of State (EOS) and the simulation parameters such as the time step, initial particle spacing, and smoothing length factor, a dam-break problem and deflection of an elastic plate is selected, and the least squares analysis is performed on the simulation results. With the optimal values of the pivotal parameters, the accuracy of the simulation is validated by calculating the exerted force on a moving solid column in the open surface fluid. Overall, the SPH-FEM coupled simulation is very effective to calculate the fluid-structure interaction. However, the relevant parameters should be carefully selected to obtain accurate results.
Objective: The purpose of this study is to improve TPI OnBaseU Power Test and golf performance by conducting CrossFit power training. Method: Three male golf players from University B participated in this study. They had 3 to 4 years of golf experience and participated in 8 weeks of CrossFit power training. Results: OnBaseU Power Test: There was a lot of improvement in Sit up throw (27.9%) and Chest pass (10.58%), but there was not much improvement in Baseline Toss (R5.9, L9.8%) and Vertical Jump (4.1%). Golf shot data: There was a very statistically significant difference in Club speed, Ball speed, and Total Length, which are related to speed, and there was no difference in Club path and Smash factor, which are related to accuracy and posture. Conclusion: CrossFit power training was effective in improving TPI OnBaseU Power Test and golf performance (Club speed, Ball speed, Total Length).

In this study, the propagation behaviour and the closure phenomena of physically small surface cracks were investigated by the techinque of the Kikukawa-unloading elastic compliance method using a back face strain gage. The surface cracks initiated and propagated from notched specimens under constant amplitude bending load. The crack shape (aspect ratio) with approximately semi-circular at the early stage was changed to semi-elliptical as the cracks grew larger. The crack depth (a) could be expressed uniquenly by the crack length (c). The dependence of the crack propagation rate on the stress ratio R was strongly related in the lower ${\Delta}K$ range. The deceleration of the surface crack propagation rate was prominent in lower R during the crack length was small. When the propagation rate was rearranged with the effective stress intensity factor range ${\Delta}$K_{eff} the dependence of the crack propagation rate on the stress ratio R was found to be diminshed. These were caused by the crack closure phenomena that was most prominent at the lower propagation rate. The mechanism of crack closure phenomena was dominated by the plasticity-induced mechanism.
The load transfer depth of a ground anchor is the minimum length required to transfer the initial prestressing to the grout column through the bonded part. A thorough understanding of the mechanism of load transfer as well as accurate prediction of the load transfer depth are essential for designing an anchorage that has an adequate factor of safety and satisfies implicit economic criteria. In the current research, experimental and numerical studies were conducted to investigate the load transfer mechanism of ground anchors based on a series of laboratory and field load tests. Optical FBG sensors embedded in the central king cable of a seven-wire strand were successfully employed to monitor the changes in tensile force and its distribution along the tendons. Moreover, results from laboratory and in-situ pullout tests were compared with those from equivalent case studies simulated using the finite difference method in the FLAC 3D program. All the results obtained from the two proposed methods were remarkably consistent with respect to the load increments. They were similar not only in trend but also in magnitude and showed more consistency at higher pullout loading stages, especially the final loading stage. Furthermore, the estimated load transfer depth demonstrated a pronounced dependency on the surrounding ground condition, being shorter in hard ground conditions and longer in weaker ones. Finally, considering the safety factor and cost-effective design, the required bonded length of a ground anchor was formulated in terms of the load transfer depth.
Fatigue crack shape variation by a residual stress during crack growth and life predition are studied. An analytical method is presented to predict the influence of a residual stress due to heattreatment on crack shape variations. Computer simulation results using this me thod are graphically shown that crack growth rate to surface direction are decreased due to compressive residual stress exisiting in surface area. These results are commpared with experimental results. The fatigue life is also predicted by computer simulation of crack aspect ratio variation which is based on the surface crack length increment per unit cycle calculated from a-N diagram. Predited life is about 12 percent lower than experimental life.
Based on the 2-dimensional charge-control simulation[4], a purely analytical model for MODFET's is proposed. In this model, proper treatment of the diffusion effect in the 2-DEG transport due to the gradual channel opening along the 2-DEG channel was made to explain the enhanced mobility and increased thershold voltage. The channel thickness and gate capacitance are experssed as functions of gate vlotage including subthreshold characteristics of the MODFET's analytically. By introducing the finite channel opening and an effective channel-length modulation, the slope of the saturation region of the I-V curves was modeled. The smooth transition of the I-V curves from linear-to-saturation region of the I-V curves was possible using the continuous Troffimenkoff-type of field-dependent mobility.
Furthermore, a correction factor f was introduced to account for the finite transtition section forming between the GCA and the saturated section. This factor removes the large discrepanicies in the saturation region fo the I-V curves presicted by existing 1-dimensional models. The fitting parameters chosen in our model were found to be predictable and vary over relatively small range of values.

The main objective of the research is to develop an algorithm for the optimum design of two dimensional steel frames using refined plastic hinge analysis which considers material and geometrical nonlinearities. Using developed algorithm, an optimum design was perform without calculating an effective length factor of the column (K-factor). A multi-level discrete optimization technique with two parameters has been developed and employed in the optimum design algorithm. The optimization algorithm is applied to structural design with the objective of minimizing the weight of a structure and with constraints on load limit, frame drift, ductility. Various application example is provided to demonstrate the feasibility, validity and efficiency of the developed program.

A series of analysis and experiment on the fishing gear and method of the existing midwater pair trawl net with 12,800mm of maximum mesh size is carried out to determine the most effective shape factor. As the first step of this study, the fishing gear and method for the existing net are analyzed to solve problems, such as being low of the net height by increasing the towing speed, twist of net pendant and twine, suspension of float between knots of mesh. etc. Standing on these results, the existing net are modified by very effective shape based on the theory and technology designing the fishing gear. Also, the model experiment is carried out to determine the most effective shape factor of the modified net in the circulation water channel. The obtained results can be summarized as follows : 1. On the length of net pendants(No.2 and No.3) connected with side line, opening efficiency of net with length 8.0cm of net pendant is the greatest and in the order of 11.5cm, 15.0cm. 2. On the number of the net pendant, opening efficiency of net with 4 lines of net pendant is the greatest and in the order of 3 lines, 2 lines. Center part of side panel is pushed out backward, and the pushed length is increasing by increasing flow speed. 3. On the sinking force, opening efficiency of the net is increasing by increasing sinking force. And opening efficiency shows almost the same when sinking force is greater about 1.5 times than that of the existing net in case of the net with 3 lines of net pendant, and about 1.6 ~ 1.7 times than that of the existing net in case of the net with 2 lines.

In order to investigate the effect of single tensile overload on the short crack growth behavior under the out-of-plane cyclic bending moment, crack opening stresses were continuously measured by an elastic compliance method using strain gages. The characteristics of short crack growth after the single tensile overload are analyzed by the effective stress range ratio. Futhermore, the investigation was carried out with respect to various fatigue crack growth behaviors such as the plastic zone size effect on crack retardation, the retarded crack length and the number of cycles.

This paper presents the transient impedance behaviors according to the length of down conductors of grounding systems to lightning impulse currents. The potential rise and effective impulse ground impedance of the deeply-driven ground rod and grounding grid subjected to the impulse currents were measured and analyzed as a function of the rise time of impulse currents and lengths of down conductor. The transient ground impedances strongly depend on the configuration and size of grounding electrodes, the waveform of impulse currents and the length of down conductors, and the installation methods reducing the inductance of down conductors are an important factor to decrease the transient ground impedances.
