This study was carried out to investigate experimentally the effect of three factors(dynamic load, inflation pressure and number of passes of tire) on soil compaction under the tire. The experiment were conducted with a 6.00R14 radial-ply tire for sandy loam soil using soil bin system. To evaluate the effect of three factors on soil compaction under the tire, the sinkage. density and volume of soil under the tire were measured fur the three levels of dynamic load(1.17kN, 2.35kN and 3.53kN), for the three levels of tire inflation pressure(103.42kPa, 206.84kPa and 413.67kPa), and for three different number of passes(1, 3 and 5). The results of this study can be summarized as follows : 1. As dynamic load, inflation pressure and number of passes of the tire increased, soil sinkage and density increased. and volume of soil decreased. Thus increase in dynamic load, inflation pressure and number of passes of the tire would increase soil compaction. 2. The effect of tire inflation pressure on sinkage. density and volume of soil under the tire was relatively less than that of the dynamic load. Therefore, it was concluded that dynamic load was more important factor affecting soil compaction in comparison to the inflation pressure of tire. 3. The effect of three different factors on sinkage, density and volume of soil decreased as the soil depth increase. Consequently, it was fecund that soil compaction at a shallow depth in soil was larger than that at deep place in soil.

The Compaction of fill dam is very important for increasing of the safty of dam. Vibration roller is used for the compaction of pervious materials such as sand and gravel. The principal objects of this study are to give a comstruction criteria of vibration roller and to find out the relationship between dry density and permeabity of pervious soil after compaction. The results in this study are summerized as follows. 1.The relationship between maximum dry density (Υdmax) and optimum moisture content(Wo) of modified compaction test is Υdmax=2. 74-0. 064w0 2.The maximum dry density decrease with increasing fine particle(n) and the relative formular is n==ae-brdmax 3.The maximum dry density is influenced more by passing rate of number 200 sieve than 4 sieve. 4.The coefficient of permeability are similar when the degrees of compaction are equal even though the spreading thickness of soil are different. 5.The coefficient of permeability(K)is greatly influence by fine particle passing number 200 sieve, and those relationship is inversely proportionate. 6.The K values of pervious soil are from 10-0 cm/sec to 10-4 cm/sec when degree of compaction by a modified method is from 90 to 95percent. 7.The coarser material is little influenced on the permeability with different density. 8.The increasing rate of permeability with decreasing degree of compaction is more influened by fine pacticle than number 200 sieve. When degree of compaction decrease from 100 percent to 90 percent the K values of SM and GM increase about 20 times but GW increase 6 times only. 9.The effect of compaction by vibration roller is greatly influenced by 6 passes and the increasing rate of the effect is decraased at 8 passes. 10. In order to get the degree of compaction of 95 percent or more, 6 to 8 passes of roller are generall required with 30 cm thickeness of soil for 4.5 ton to 6.5 ton vibration roller and 7 to 8 passes is required with 50cm thickness for 8 to 12 ton roller.

Proctor test A or D method of compaction is the most common laboratory test for investigation of subgrade soil characteristics, however, compression type using roller is used in the field. The differences between laboratory and field compaction have considerable error as application to subgrade soil properties of laboratory test. The investigation of compacted soil is carried into effect to solve the problem. The gyratory compactor which is made to reproduce the field density of asphalt mixture, coming from traffic loads, has an advance to compact it similar to arrangement of field aggregate particles. This gyratory compactor has several problems of investigation of compacted soil, because it has designed to make initial asphalt specimens. The main objectives of this research are grasping problems when compacted soil test using the gyratory compactor and showing solutions. It has made a comparative study of difference of the percentage of water content and weight, which are before and after compaction, about the pressure of compaction, frequency of compaction and speed of compaction. And it also has investigated finding maximum percentage of water content which not occur change of percentage of water content after compaction and searching how has an effect on drawing compaction curve.
The effects of cyclic stress, frequency and bias-pressure on densification of Al2O3 powder cyclic compaction are investigated. The effect of frequency was not significant on densification of Al2O3 powder under cyclic compaction. The higher the cyclic stress and the lower the bias pressure, the higher densification was achieved. To obtain a higher densification, cyclic compaction was more efficient than 1 stroke compaction. A densification equation was proposed to describe an cyclic time dependent pressure-volume relation for Al2O3 powder under cyclic compaction. This equation was obtained empirically, based on the pressure-volume equation proposed by Cooper and Eaton, the time dependent densification equation by Kim and Suh and experimental data for Al2O3 powder under cyclic compaction. The agreement between the proposed equation and experimental data for Al2O3 powder under cyclic compaction was very good.

The compaction of core zone of the fill dam is very important foe increasing of the Strength of soil mass and reduction of permeability of the core. The principal objects of this study are to give the construction criteria of tamping rollers and to find out the relationships between density and permeability of soil after compaction. The results in this study are summarized as follows. 1. The core zone of fill dam should be compacted more than 8 passed because the compaction effects of clayey soil increase sharply in about 8 passes of roller. 2. The coefficient of permeability (K) increases with the thickness of compaction of soil even though the density is same. 3. The effect of compaction increases with the quantity of coarse materials such as coarse sand and gravel. 4. If D values change from 100 percent to 98 percent and from 100 percent to 95 percent, K values become 2 times and 5 times of initial K value respectively. 5. The coefficient of permeability in the field soil is very high comparing with the result of laboratory test at the same 100 percent compaction ratio, but differences between both results decrease with the decrease of compaction ratio. 6. Thickness of soil layer for the compaction should be increased for heavier compaction machine. 7. In order to get the compaction ratio of 98 percent or more, 10 to 12 passes of roller is generally required with the thickness of soil from 20cm to 30cm.
A plasticity theory applicable to the powdered metal compaction is briefly summarized and its varia-tional form for the finite element analysis is described. The compaction processes of axisymmetric solid cylinder are simulated. For the analysis of the friction effect on compaction process the investigations were performed for different compact geometries. Efforts are focused on the transmitted pressure through the compact and density distributions within the compacts. Numerical results show that :(1) the friction coefficient could be selected simply from the transmitted force data by the single acting compaction test and the simulated results ; and (2) density variations within the compacts rely on the compact geometry such as height to diameter ration and the frictional condition between compact and dies.

A plasticity theory applicable to powdered metal compaction is briefly summarized and its variational form for the finite element analysis is described. The compaction processes of axisymmetric solid cylinder are simulated. For the analysis of the friction effect of solid cylinder, the investigations were performed for different compact geometries. Highlights of the results for given geometries are reported in terms of transmitted pressure on the lower punch from the upper punch through the compact and maximum density variation within the compacts. General conclusions from these simulation results are : (1) the friction coefficient could be selected from the transmitted force data during the single acting compaction test with the simulated results ; and (2) density variatioins within the compacts are very much dependent of the compact geometry such as the height to diameter ratio and the frictional condition between compact and dies.
In this study, effect of core-shell structure on compaction behavior of harmonic powder is investigated. Harmonic powders are made by electroless plating method on Fe powders. Softer Cu shell encloses harder Fe core, and the average size of Fe core and thickness of Cu shell are $34.3{\mu}m$ and $3.2{\mu}m$, respectively. The powder compaction procedure is processed with pressure of 600 MPa in a cylindrical die. Due to the low strength of Cu shell regions, the harmonic powders show better densification behavior compared with pure Fe powders. Finite element method (FEM) is performed to understand the roll of core-shell structure. Based on stress and strain distributions of FEM results, it is concluded that the early stage of powder compaction of harmonic powders mainly occurs at the shell region. FEM results also well predict porosity of compacted materials.
The effect of the hot-compaction temperature on the microstructure and magnetic properties of anisotropic nanocrystalline magnets was investigated. The hot-compaction temperature was found to impact both the magnetic properties and the microstructure of die-upset magnets. The remanence of the isotropic precursor increases slightly with the improved hot-compaction temperature, and the grains start to grow on the flake boundary at higher hot-compaction temperatures. After hot deformation, it was found that the change in the magnetic properties was the inverse of that observed with the hot-compaction temperature. Microstructural investigation showed that die-upset magnets inherit the microstructural characteristics of their precursor. For the die-upset magnets, hot pressed at low temperature, scarcely any abnormal grain growth on the flake boundary can be seen. For those hot pressed at higher temperatures, however, layers with large equiaxed grains could be observed, which accounted for the poor alignment during the hot deformation, and thus the poor magnetic properties.
