Detection of abandoned objects for smart video surveillance should be robust and accurate in various situations with low computational costs. This paper presents a new algorithm for abandoned object detection based on the dual background model. Through the template registration of a candidate stationary object and presence authentication methods presented in this paper, we can handle some complex cases such as occlusions, illumination changes, long-term abandonment, and owner's re-attendance as well as general detection of abandoned objects. The proposed algorithm also analyzes video frames at specific intervals rather than consecutive video frames to reduce the computational overhead. For performance evaluation, we experimented with the algorithm using the well-known PETS2006, ABODA datasets, and our video dataset in a live streaming environment, which shows that the proposed algorithm works well in various situations.
Since performance assessment was introduced in Korea in the middle of 1990, many problems which include its definition, characters, methods and scorings etc., raised in mathematics education worlds. Therefore this paper presents the theoretical background of performance assessment in mathematics education. Contemporary teaching and loaming theories reject stimulus-response theory which emphasizes outcome. Performance assessment emphasizes the assessment which reveal learning process and various strategies. And it bases on constructivism and socio-cultural perspective. This paper presents paradigms which guide the roles and purposes of assessment. The paradigms include conventional paradigm, constructivist paradigm and critical paradigm. There is a close correlation between constructivist paradigm and performance assessment. Assessment has to grasp the development of present and the possibility of development of future of the students. Performance assessment must be fixed the new paradigm of education for this purpose.

It is in the vortex of the Fourth Industrial Revolution in all areas of our society. Education is no exception. We all know that software is at the center of the education in the 4th industry revolution. It is very important for students to survey the ICT background in order to be good at software education. The OECD PISA has surveyed ICT background of students in a three-year cycle from 2003. This study analyzes PISA ICT statistical data based on the data released in April 2017. We compare and analyze the availability and usability items among the 81 items of the ICT background of the students. The results of linear regression analysis showed that Korea was the lowest among OECD countries. ICT availability is ranked 28 out of 30 countries and ICT usability is ranked 31 out of 31 countries. This reflects the fact that ICT education is not implemented in the country since 2008. For the students who will be the leaders of the future society, ICT education that had implemented in 2000 should be carried out quickly.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the educational effects of convergence Capstone Design activities. The purpose of this study were to identify the importance of father’s roles on children. A survey was carried out on 458(227 boys and 231 girls) 6th-graders at randomly chosen 4 elementary schools in Kwangju. Frequency, percentage, average, standard deviation and Pearson’s coefficient were checked and one-way ANOVA, Duncan’s multiple range test and multiple regression analysis were also carried out on the collected data. The results were as follows; 1. Evaluation of fathers’role performance depending on background variables ranged from 46.17 to 58.51 points(equivalent to 61.56∼78.01 points in the 100-point scale). Background variables that caused statistically significant difference were children’s sex, fathers’religion (whether they had one or not) fathers’education, monthly family income and decision-makers at home. The degrees of fathers’role performance were higher when the answerers were girls, when fathers had religions, when fathers educational level was higher, when the family income was higher, and when all family members participated in the decision-making. 2. Evaluation of children’s achievement motivation depending on background variables ranged from 77.17 to 84.34 points( equivalent to 68.90∼75.35 points in the 100-point scale). Background variables that caused statistically significant differences were children∼s sex and decision-makers at home. Children∼s achievement motivation were higher in the case of girls and when all family members participated in the decision-making. 3. When it comes to the children’s achievement motivation in relation to father’s role performance, 1)The overall aspect of fathers’ role performance caused significant differences in children’s achievement motivation. 2) The influence of fathers’role performance on children’s achievement motivation was highest in the investigation-faciliator role (${\beta}$=2.5) and then the economic role (${\beta}$=.14) and the valuetransmitter role (${\beta}$=.14). The explanative power of these variables was 22%.
Objective: This study aims to investigate early childhood teachers' perception of STEAM and suggest activation measures for STEAM according to teachers' background variables. Methods: The researchers conducted a pilot study, and then did survey research for 5 weeks. The participants of this study included 523 teachers of early childhood education institutions in Gwangju metropolitan city and Jeollanam-do Province. Results: The results of this study were as follows. First, early childhood teachers perceived the necessity of STEAM differently according to their age, experience, and academic background. The higher their age, experience, and academic background were, the more they wanted to participate in further teacher training and education. In particular, early childhood teachers' perception and activation measures were very different according to their workplace. These results come from the fact that the conditions in conducting STEAM are different according to their workplace. Conclusion/Implications: In order to activate STEAM, a teacher training program including practical contents and methods should be conducted. Also, it is necessary to carefully organize the content and structure of the teacher training program according to their workplace. This study is meaningful in terms of suggesting activation measures for STEAM by showing how early childhood teachers think about STEAM and what they demand.
