The APJCP Impact Factor for 2012 is 1.271, returning from 0.659 for 2011 (1.240 for 2010 and 1.108 for 2009). For an Asian Pacific journal publishing over 100 papers a month from countries with very varied resources it is heartening and we thank all those who continued to submit papers and cite references in the APJCP through our difficult period. However, we still have very much room for improvement. As Chief Editors it is our shared responsibility to act for the benefit of the cancer control research community who utilize the journal in our region of over four billion people and provide a prestigious forum for publication of research findings which can be freely shared by all. The motivation for the APOCP/APJCP has never been financial profit but a firm financial base is nevertheless essential. Although we have kind support from the Korean National Cancer Center for our Managing Editor and the website, our ability to maintain our Chinese and Thai offices is totally dependent on the processing charges paid by the authors. In order to expand our staff to cope with increased submissions and provide greater assistance in ensuring comprehensive reference coverage and dissemination of findings published in the APJCP to the worldwide research community, a joint decision has been made to increase formatting charges by 50% from July. We ask for author understanding. In addition, we appeal to scientists to positively consider our requests to make their reference lists as comprehensive as possible, including papers from the APJCP where appropriate. The future of the journal and the APOCP is largely in your own hands.

본 연구에 이용된 편집요인은 뉴스 카테고리, 사진기사, 굵은 활자체의 기사제목, 신문제호, 기사제목의 내용 등으로 구성되었다. 이 같은 요인 중 사진기사, 굵은 활자체의 기사제목, 기사제목의 내용 등 3개 요인만이 뉴스 이용자들의 기사선택에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이들 요인을 포털뉴스 이용시간의 차이에 따른 분석에서는 뉴스 카테고리, 굵은 활자체의 기사제목, 신문제호 등 3개 요인만이 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 뉴스 장르가 뉴스 이용자들의 기사선택에 미치는 영향에 대한 분석에서는 정치, 경제, 사회, 스포츠, 문화/연예, 국제, IT/과학 장르 중 사회, 문화/연예, 국제 등 3개 요인만이 이용자들의 기사선택에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이들 요인에 대한 남녀집단 간의 분석에서는 경제, 스포츠, 문화/연예, IT/과학 등 4개 장르에서 기사선택에 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 오프라인 신문에 비해 다양한 방식으로 기사를 노출시키는 온라인 매체에서 전통적인 신문편집의 요소가 기사선택에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가를 파악하여 온 오프라인 신문 간 편집요소의 역할에 대한 차이와 온라인 매체에서의 효과적인 편집방안을 수립하는데 기초적인 단서를 제공할 목적으로 수행되었다.

본 연구는 저자 동시인용 데이터를 이용하여 커뮤니케이션 분야의 학자들간의 네트워크를 연구하였다. 저자 동시인용 분석이란 두 저자가 제 3의 다른 저자에 의해 동시에 인용되는 경우를 말하는데, 본 연구에서는 International Communication Association의 가장 대표적인 학술지인 Journal of Communication의 편집위원회를 그 대상으로 하였다. 저자동시인용 데이터는 좌우대칭의 매트릭스에 입력되고, 그 행렬에서 얻어지는 저자들의 위치도(network map)를 통해 각 저자들의 전문분야들이 위치도 안에서 어떻게 구분되는지, 또한 네트워크 상에서 어떤 저자들이 다른 저자들에 비해 중심적인 지 보여주는 데 이용된다. 기본적인 저자동시인용분석 외에도 두 매트릭스의 연관성을 비교하는 QAP 분석을 통해 어떠한 요인들이 커뮤니케이션 분야의 지식구조에 영향을 미치는 지 조사하였는데, 저자들의 교육적 배경이나 현재 소속된 기관보다는 각자의 전문분야가 더 많은 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 저자동시인용분석에 필요한 데이터는 Social Science Citation Index (SSCI) 데이터베이스를 통해 수집되었고, 저자들의 네트워크 지도는 UCInet이라는 프로그램을 이용하여 만들어졌다.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze media companies' editorial viewpoints regarding environmental issues. Not only do newspaper editorials provide a variety of environmental information, but also they make it possible for the public to form an opinion and to establish communication channels regarding environmental issues. With this in mind, this paper analyzes the changes in environmental reporting over the past two decades. The newspaper companies started writing more frequently about the environment from early 1980s. To show this, I analyzed environmental articles written in the six main news-paper companies: Chosun, Donga, Hangerae, Kyunghyang, Hankook, and Munwha from 1999 to 2004. For this study, the articles have been complied by using the Korean Integrated News Database System (KINDS). Also the data has been sorted according to year, subject, and ty the company of origin. The total number of the environmental articles posted on these six daily newspapers from 1999 to 2004 is 729 and these represent 2.59% of the total articles. Hankook-Ilbo was the company that handled the most of environmental articles followed by Hangerae, Munwha, Kyunghwang, Chosun, and Donga. The major topics of discussion were environmental development and water quality issues. The number of the environmental related articles increased in 1999 and 2000, but then decreased from 2001 to 2003. Again the number increased in 2004. Interestingly while the number of articles covering the environment increased from the 1980s and into the 1990s, the number of articles decreased from 1999 to 2004 as the post-IMF period seems to have suppressed interest in the ecological issues despite the economic growth that followed. With the change in media coverage people have begun to recognize environmental issues as having social impact. As a result the people have begun to take such issues more seriously and take more active role in effecting environmental policy. Thus it is important that the media presents it's stories in an object manner to insure that the public is properly informed.

대학의 만화교육과정에는 이론 및 실기로 가르쳐야할 전공으로 카툰, 만평, 네칸만화, 서사만화, 웹툰 등이 있다. 본 연구는 그 중에서도 네칸만화의 교육과정에서 어떻게 교육하는 것이 네칸만화의 이해를 높일 수 있을 것인가에 대한 필요성에서 출발한다. 네칸만화는 소재에 따라 크게 인간의 희로애락을 다루는 '순수만화'와 정치 경제 사회 문화의 문제의식을 풍자와 해학으로 드러내는'시사만화'가 있다. 한정된 시간 속에서 네칸만화를 학생들에게 이해시키기 위해서는 폭넓은 소재의 순수 네칸만화보다 시사로 한정되는 시사 네칸만화의 구조를 분석해 보는 것이 용이하다 판단하여, 신문에 연재되는 네칸만화 중 경향신문의 <장도리>를 중심으로 기승전결에 따른 구조와 수사법을 연구한 것이다. 본 연구는 네칸만화의 구조와 수사법을 분석할 수 있는 방법을 제시함으로써 네칸만화의 장르를 이해하고 나아가 네칸만화를 창작할 수 있는 전공 지식의 폭을 넓히고자 하는데 있다. 순수 네칸만화까지 접근하지 못한 한계에도 불구하고 대학의 만화교육과정에서 네칸만화의 교육을 필요로 하는 곳에 작은 도움이 될 수 있기를 바란다.

2005년 1월 1일 국회를 통과한 '신문등의자유와기능보장에관한법률'(이하 신문법)은 시민언론단체의 신문법안과 비교하면 상당히 후퇴했다고 볼 수 있다. 편집자율성을 보장하기 위한 두 가지 장치 중 신문사 소유지분 분산 규정은 사라졌고 편집위원회(편집규약)는 임의기구가 되었다. 결국, 신문법은 '절반의 성공'만을 거둔 법이라는 비판을 받기도 했다. 그렇지만 신문법은 여론다양성 보장을 위해 신문시장의 시장지배적 사업자 추정 요건을 일반 상품 시장보다 강화하고 신문산업 진흥을 위한 신문발전위원회, 신문발전기금 신문유통원의 설치를 제도화하는 등 나름대로 의미가 있다고 볼 수 있다. 신문법이 시행되자 동아일보, 조선일보 등이 신문법 헌법소원을 제기하였고 이에 대한 헌법재판소의 판결이 이루어질 예정이어서 신문법의 위헌 여부가 관심의 대상이 되고 있다. 이 논문에서는 조선일보가 제기한 '신문법 위헌소원 청구이유 보충서'(이하 청구서)의 내용을 중심으로 신문법 위헌 논쟁의 주요 쟁점을 검토하였다.

이 논문은 $\ulcorner$독립신문$\lrcorner$의 편집에 어떠한 인물들이 참여하였는가를 규명해 보려는 것이다. 이 문제에 대해서는 그동안 학계의 논의가 매우 부족한 가운데 서재필 자서전 등의 단편적이고 일방적인 기록에 의해 서재필 중심으로 해석하는 경향이 지배적이었다. 이 논문에서는 지금까지의 연구 성과와 밝혀진 자료들을 종합하고 재해석하며 일부 새로운 자료들을 토대로 해서 이 문제에 체계적인 접근을 시도해 보았다. 본 연구에서 사용하게 될 새로운 자료는 서재필의 중추원 고문 계약과 관련된 문서, 선교사 헐버트의 참여와 관련된 그의 서한들, 그리고 아펜젤러의 역할을 언급한 서재필의 편지 등이다. 본 연구의 결과 독립신문에 참여했던 것으로 밝혀진 인물은 서재필, 주시경, 윤치호, 헐버트, 손승용, 이준일, 아펜젤러, 엠벌리, 콥 총 9명이었다. 서재필을 포함한 한국인이 5명이고 외국인이 4명이었다. 이중 사장이나 주필의 역할을 맡았던 사람은 시간적 순서대로 서재필, 윤치호, 아펜젤러, 엠벌리이다. 그밖에 주시경과 손승용이 초창기부터 편집에 참여했으며 헐버트는 영문판 편집일을 초창기 몇 달간 맡았었다. 이들 중 손승용이 유일하게 창간부터 폐간까지 계속 참여했던 인물인 것으로 보인다. 이준일은 회계 업무를 맡았으며 콥은 일시적으로 교정 등의 업무를 도와주었다. 이들 중 헐버트와 콥은 정식 직원은 아니었다. 헐버트는 비공식적인 계약에 의해 초창기에 잠시 참여하였고 콥은 일시적으로 교정을 도와준 인물이다.
