산채류가 장내세균의 In Vitro 생육에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Edible Herbs on the Growth of In Vitro Intestinal Microorganisms)

  • This study was aimed to screen edible herbs which control the composition of intestinal microflora. With in vitro experiments, we screened the water or ethanol extracts of about 60 edible herbs and wild plants in terms of the inhibition activity on the growth of the harmful Clostridium perfringens and growth promoting activity for the beneficial Bifidobacteria. The water extracts of mugwort and small water dropwort inhibited the growth of Cl.perfringens both in agar diffusion method and broth culture. On the other hand, the water extracts of petasites, mugwort, yellow day-lily and bitter cress have shown the promotion effect on the growth of Bifidobacterium longum. In the culture test using human feces as starter, the extracts of the above selected herbs increased the population of Bifidobacteria and Lactobacillus while they reduced the numbers of Cl.perfringens and E.coli.

Antimutagenic Effects of Juices from Edible Korean Wild Herbs

  • The mutagenic and antimutagenic activities of juices from 20 common edible wild herbs found in Korea were investigated using the spore-rec assay and Ames test. The juices of Hemerocallis fulva and Capsella bursapastoris exhibited a little induction or inhibition of mutagenesis in the presence of selected metal ions, but juices of most edible wild herbs did not affect on the mutagenesis in the spore-rec assay. In the other hand, all of the juices strongly inhibited the mutagenesis induced by benzo[a]pyrene, 2-amino-fluorene, and 3-amino-1,4-dimethyl-5H-pyridol tested on Salmonella typhimurium TA98 or TA100 in the presence of S-9 mix. The antimutagenic effects increased as the concentration of the mutagens increase. The results suggest that concentration of samples or types of various mutagen interact to affect the antimutagenic potential of the juices in the TA98 and TA100 strain.

식용 허브 메탄올추출물의 L1210 암세포에 대한 세포독성과 항산화효소 활성 변화 (Cytotoxicity of Methanol Extract of Edible Herbs Against L1210 Cells with the Changes of Antioxidant Enzymes Activities)

  • The methanol extracts prepared from ten kinds of culinary herbs were investigated for the cytotoxcic effect againt L1210 cancer cells and the mode of action. The substantial cytotoxic effects were observed in all cases with the most prominent effect demonstrated by lemon verbena extract showing $87{\pm}4.1%$ cytotoxicity with $100{\mu}g/ml$ concentration and 3 days culture period. The cytotoxic effect was found to be dose and culture period dependent. With respect to the mechanism of the cytotoxicity, the augmented generation of $O_2{^-}ion$ and the dramatically escalated activities of antioxidant enzymes such as superoxide dismutase(SOD) and glutathione peroixdase (GPx) with addition of the herb methanol extractw suggested that there would be the involvement of reactive oxygen species (ROS) metabolism in the course of L1210 cancer cell death by the mothanol extract of the edible herbs.

  • 혈전 관련 질환 예방 및 혈류개선 기능성 식품의 개발을 목표로, 식용 및 약용 산채류 55종의 메탄을 추출물을 조제한 후 트롬빈 저해활성을 검색하였다. 그 결과, 대조군으로 사용된 아스피린보다 우수한 항혈전 활성을 나타내는 붉나무, 사삼, 우산나물, 쥐다래, 참나물, 할미밀망, 큰까치수영, 첫버들 추출물 등 8종을 선별하였으며, aPTT, 혈전 용해활성, 열 안정성, 기타 소화효소 저해활성 등을 평가하며 참나물, 큰까치수영 및 갯버들 추출물을 최종 선별하였다. 참나물의 경우 열안정성이 낮은 반면 소화효소 비저해로 인해 그 이용성이 높으며, 큰 까치수영 및 갯버들의 경우 부분적인 소화효소 저해능이 있으나 우수한 항혈전활성 및 열 안정성을 나타내어 다양한 식품소재로 개발이 가능함을 확인하였다.

식용자원으로의 활용을 위한 오소리(단육)에 관한 연구 -오소리 기름과 한약재를 첨가한 발효액의 영양학적 특성 및 안전성 평가- (Study on the Meles meles as Applications in Edible Food Resource Applications -Nutritional Characteristics and Safety Evaluation on Meles meles Oil and Fermented Liquid with Medicinal Herbs-)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the possibility of Meles moles application as an edible functional food resource. This study was conducted to estimate the general nutrition composition, amino acid and minerals contents, fatty acid composition of Meles meles oil and the added fermented medicinal herbs liquid, and examine the cell toxicity effects in normal liver and kidney cells. The approximate composition of Meles moles oil was crude fat, 97.64%, crude ash, 1.99% and crude protein, 0.37%. In the fermented liquid, the approximate composition was moisture, 96.08%, Carbohydrate, 1.53%, crude ash, 0.92%, dietary fiber, 0.65%, crude protein, 0.54% and crude fat, 0.28%. The amino acid contents were 2.67 and 80.9mg% in the oil and liquid, respectively. The singularity of the unsaturated fatty acid contents attracted our attention. Especially, the polyunsaturated fatty acid compositions were 32.28 and 54.98% in oil and liquid, respectively. Negative effects were not found form the results of the cell toxicity respection. These results imply that Meles effects oil and the added fermented medicinal herbs liquid can be used as possible food resources and functional food materials.

한약재 열수추출물의 항산화 활성 및 Xanthine Oxidase 저해 활성 (Antioxidant and Xanthine Oxidase Inhibitory Activities of Hot Water Extracts of Medicinal Herbs)

  • 통풍 증상을 개선하고 예방 및 치료에 효과를 확인하여 이를 일상생활에 지장을 주지 않고 장기간 쉽게 복용하기에 적합한 식품 소재를 발굴하기 위하여 한의학 및 식품 관련 서적에서 통풍 개선 및 치료 효과가 있어 널리 사용되고 있는 29가지 식용 가능 한약재를 선별하였다. 각 한약재의 열수추출액의 총 페놀 함량, DPPH 라디칼 소거능, ABTS 라디칼 소거능, xanthine oxidase 저해능을 측정한 결과, 황금추출액이 가장 높은 활성을 나타내었다. 이상의 결과는 황금추출액을 주 소재로 하여 항산화능과 통증 개선에 유용한 식품 개발에 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

  • With well-being boom recently, the common people, but not experts, are increasingly taking in them directly by picking wild herbs. However, only experts can distinguish between edible vegetables and poisonous herbs from the wild herbs. Especially, it is not even easy for experts to distinguish them only by looking into buds in spring without flowers or fruit. So, sometimes many patients are being carried into the emergency room by the toxic symptom after taking by misunderstanding the poisonous herbs as edible vegetables. For herb intoxication as well as drug intoxication, what kinds of vegetables patients took in, and when and how much they took in them are important information for curing. Of course, in the case of intoxicating in the wild herbs, the patients can have a lot of symptoms and sings-hemodynamic alteration and abnormal neurologic sign as well as gastrointestinal symptoms-according to the kinds of herbs which they took in. Therefore, it is difficult to find the kinds of herbs which they took in through the specific symptoms. Recently we experienced a case with showing typical anticholinergic symptoms after ingestion of Scopolia japonica. As a result, the publicity activities about the wild plants needs because if the person without their previous knowledge take in the poisonous herbs, serious side effects can be produced..

주요 산채류인 멸가치의 미세환경에 따른 생육특성 (Growth Characteristics of Adenocaulon himalaicum according to microenvironments)

  • 본 연구는 산림의 유용한 식물중 하나인 멸가치의 생육특성을 밝혀 보고자 습도와 광도를 조사하였다. 주요 산채류중 하나인 멸가치의 생약성분이 정신분열증을 일으키는 dopamine함량 감소작용을 일으켰다는 보고 등 자원으로서의 가치가 큰 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 멸가치의 생육에 가장 큰 영향을 주는 것은 습도로 $50\%$ 이상이 좋은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 온도변화가 자고 광량은 $200\;{\mu}mol\;s^{-1}m^{-2}$이하의 곳이 생육에 적합한 장소로 분석되었다. 이 연구 결과 음지식물의 증식에 있어서 습도를 $50\%$이상 유지하는 것이 중요한 것으로 나타났다.

Use of natural ingredients in Japanese quail diet and their effect on carcass and meat quality - A review

  • The present paper reviews the findings of different research studies on the effect of natural ingredients in the Japanese quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica) diet on carcass characteristics and meat quality. The results show a relationship between the type and concentration of ingredients used in diets and carcass characteristics and meat quality. The inclusion of medicinal herbs (thyme, black seed, and mint), plants (canola), seeds (chickpea), spices (cinnamon and coriander), worms (earthworms), bee products (propolis), phytochemicals (lycopene), and edible fungi (common mushrooms) in the diet improved carcass quality characteristics compared to the control diets (basal diets). The inclusion of medicinal herbs (spearmint and green tea), spices (cinnamon), vegetables (tomato), plants (verbena and canola), seeds (marijuana), and edible fungi (oyster mushrooms) improved meat quality. In conclusion, the use of ingredients of natural origin in the diet of Japanese quail improves carcass quality characteristics and meat quality.

산채류(山菜類) 가열즙(加熱汁)의 돌연변이 억제 작용에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) (Desmutagenic Activity of Heated Mountain Herb Juices)

  • 10종류(種類)의 산채류가열즙(山菜類加熱汁)에 대한 돌연변이원성(突然變異原性)을 Spore rec-assay, Ames test 그리고 DNA 절단실험(切斷實驗)으로 검토(檢討)하였으며 가열즙(加熱汁)의 조제(調製)는 $100^{\circ}C$에서 20분간 가열하여 가열즙(加熱汁)을 얻었다. Spore rec-assay 결과 10종류(種類)의 시료(試料)모두 변이원성(變異原性)은 없었으며 금속이온의 영향에서 소리쟁이가열즙은 $Pb^{2+}$, 곰취와 참나물가열즙의 경우는 $Zn^{2+}$의 존재하에서 변이원성을 나타내었다. Ames 시험과 DNA 절단시험에서도 시료모두 변이원성은 없었으며 DNA 절단(切斷)시험에서는 곰취, 머위, 잔대, 개미취가열즙의 경우는 25mM $Cu^{2+}$ 공존하에서 절단활성(切斷活性)이 촉진되었다. 그러나 두릅, 원추리, 잔대, 참나물 그리고 참취가열즙(加熱汁)은 $Fe^{2+}$의 공존시 DNA 절단활성(切斷活性)을 억제(抑制)시키는 결과(結果)를 얻었다. Benzo${\alpha}$pyrene에 대한 돌연변이(突然變異) 억제작용(抑制作用)에서는 시료(試料) 모두 농도증가(濃度增加)에 따라 강(强)한 변이원(變異原) 억제작용(抑制作用)을 나타내었다.
