One of the crucial issues in mobile edge cloud computing environments is to monitor mobile devices. Due to the inherit properties of mobile devices, they are prone to unstable behavior that leads to failures. In order to satisfy the service level agreement (SLA), the mobile edge cloud administrators should take appropriate measures through a monitoring scheme. In this paper, we propose a monitoring scheme of mobile devices based on artificial intelligence in mobile edge cloud computing environments. The proposed monitoring scheme is able to measure faults of mobile devices based on previous and current monitoring information. To this end, we adapt the hidden markov chain model, one of the artificial intelligence technologies, to monitor mobile devices. We validate our monitoring scheme based on the hidden markov chain model. The proposed monitoring scheme can also be used in general cloud computing environments to monitor virtual machines.

A lane detection based on a road model or feature all needs correct acquirement of information on the lane in an image. It is inefficient to implement a lane detection algorithm through the full range of an image when it is applied to a real road in real time because of the calculating time. This paper defines two (other proper terms including"modes") for detecting lanes on a road. First is searching mode that is searching the lane without any prior information of a road. Second is recognition mode, which is able to reduce the size and change the position of a searching range by predicting the position of a lane through the acquired information in a previous frame. It allows to extract accurately and efficiently the edge candidate points of a lane without any unnecessary searching. By means of inverse perspective transform which removes the perspective effect on the edge candidate points, we transform the edge candidate information in the Image Coordinate System(ICS) into the plan-view image in the World Coordinate System(WCS). We define a linear approximation filter and remove faulty edge candidate points by using it. This paper aims at approximating more correctly the lane of an actual road by applying the least-mean square method with the fault-removed edge information for curve fitting.e fitting.

In this paper, shear behavior of non-persistent joint surrounded in concrete and gypsum layers has been investigated using experimental test and numerical simulation. Two types of mixture were prepared for this study. The first type consists of water and gypsum that were mixed with a ratio of water/gypsum of 0.6. The second type of mixture, water, sand and cement were mixed with a ratio of 27%, 33% and 40% by weight. Shear behavior of a non-persistent joint embedded in these specimens is studied. Physical models consisting of two edge concrete layers with dimensions of 160 mm by 130 mm by 60 mm and one internal gypsum layer with the dimension of 16 mm by 13 mm by 6 mm were made. Two horizontal edge joints were embedded in concrete beams and one angled joint was created in gypsum layer. Several analyses with joints with angles of $0^{\circ}$, $30^{\circ}$, and $60^{\circ}$ degree were conducted. The central fault places in 3 different positions. Along the edge joints, 1.5 cm vertically far from the edge joint face and 3 cm vertically far from the edge joint face. All samples were tested in compression using a universal loading machine and the shear load was induced because of the specimen geometry. Concurrent with the experiments, the extended finite element method (XFEM) was employed to analyze the fracture processes occurring in a non-persistent joint embedded in concrete and gypsum layers using Abaqus, a finite element software platform. The failure pattern of non-persistent cracks (faults) was found to be affected mostly by the central crack and its configuration and the shear strength was found to be related to the failure pattern. Comparison between experimental and corresponding numerical results showed a great agreement. XFEM was found as a capable tool for investigating the fracturing mechanism of rock specimens with non-persistent joint.
An interconnection network can be represented as a graph where a vertex corresponds to a node and an edge corresponds to a link. The diameter of an interconnection network is the maximum length of the shortest paths between all pairs of vertices. The fault diameter of an interconnection network G is the maximum length of the shortest paths between all two fault-free vertices when there are $_k(G)-1$ or less faulty vertices, where $_k(G)$ is the connectivity of G. The fault diameter of an R-regular graph G with diameter of 3 or more and connectivity ${\tau}$ is at least diam(G)+1 where diam(G) is the diameter of G. We show that the fault diameter of a 2-dimensional $m{\times}n$ torus with $m,n{\geq}3$ is max(m,n) if m=3 or n=3; otherwise, the fault diameter is equal to its diameter plus 1. We also show that in $d({\geq}3)$-dimensional $k_1{\times}k_2{\times}{\cdots}{\times}k_d$ torus with each $k_i{\geq}3$, there are 2d mutually disjoint paths joining any two vertices such that the lengths of all these paths are at most diameter+1. The paths joining two vertices u and v are called to be mutually disjoint if the common vertices on these paths are u and v. Using these mutually disjoint paths, we show that the fault diameter of $d({\geq}3)$-dimensional $k_1{\times}k_2{\times}{\cdots}{\times}k_d$ totus with each $k_i{\geq}3$ is equal to its diameter plus 1.

With the advancement and deployment of leading-edge telecommunication technologies for sensing and collecting, computing related information, Cloud of Things (CoTs) has emerged as a typical application platform that is envisioned to revolutionize the daily activities of human society, such as intelligent transportation, modern logistics, food safety, environmental monitoring, etc. To avoid any possible malicious attack and resource abuse, employing hash functions is widely recognized as one of the most effective approaches for CoTs to achieve message integrity and data authentication. The Whirlpool hash function has served as part of the joint ISO/IEC 10118-3 International Standard by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). In this paper, we propose an effective differential fault analysis on Whirlpool in the byte-oriented random fault model. The mathematical analysis and experimental results show that 8 random faults on average are required to obtain the current 512-bit message input of whirlpool and the secret key of HMAC-Whirlpool. Our work demonstrates that Whirlpool and HMAC-Whirlpool are both vulnerable to the single byte differential fault analysis. It provides a new reference for the security analysis of the same structure of the hash functions in the CoTs.

In optical burst switching(OBS) networks, the ingress edge router assembles packets in the same class queue into the appropriate size of burst. A burst control packet(BCP) is generated for channel reservation of corresponding data burst and sent earlier than the corresponding data burst with an offset time. Offset time is determined considering the number of hops from source to destination and the required quality of service(QoS). After offset time, the burst data is passed through tile pre-configured optical switches without any O/E/O conversion. But a failure in OBS networks may lead to the loss of bursts until the ingress nodes receive the failure indication signal. This results in a significant degradation in QoS. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a fault-tolerant node architecture based on sub-carrier multiplexing to reduce the effects of failure in OBS networks. The Performance of the proposed fault-tolerant node architecture exhibits considerable improvement as compared with the previous ones.
We consider the fault hamiltonian properties of m ${\times}$ n meshes with two wraparound links on the first row and the last row, denoted by M$_2$(m,n), (m$\geq$2, n$\geq$3). M$_2$(m,n), which is bipartite, with a single faulty link has a fault-free path of length mn-l(mn-2) between arbitrary two nodes if they both belong to the different(same) partite set. Compared with the previous works of P$_{m}$${\times}$C$_{n}$ , it also has these hamiltonian properties. Our result show that two additional wraparound links are sufficient for an m${\times}$n mesh to have such properties rather than m wraparound links. Also, M$_2$(m,n) is a spanning subgraph of many interconnection networks such as multidimensional meshes, recursive circulants, hypercubes, double loop networks, and k-ary n-cubcs. Thus, our results can be applied to discover fault-hamiltonicity of such interconnection networks. By applying hamiltonian properties of M$_2$(m,n) to 3-dimensional meshes, recursive circulants, and hypercubes, we obtain fault hamiltonian properties of these networks.

This paper proposes a metastability-free synchronization method and a mesochronous synchronizer for NoC. It uses the clock transmitted from TX as a strobe and solves the metastability problem by selecting one of rising or falling clock edge depending on the sampling value in RX when the phase difference between clocks is under a metastability window. The logic simulation results show that it works without metastability under $0^{\circ}{\sim}360^{\circ}$ phase difference in the synchronizer that a fault is inserted. The mesochronous synchronizer has a simple control logic and is suitable for NoC.

Quench behavior of resistive superconducting fault current limiters (SFCLs) with various pattern shapes was investigated. The pattern shapes employed were meander, bi-spiral, and spiral shapes of identical line width, gap and margin. SFCLs were fabricated from YBCO thin films grown on two-inch diameter $Al_2O_3$ substrates under the same conditions. Resistance rise of current limiting elements was low at a spiral shape before the whole quench completion, which may act as a disadvantage for simultaneous quench in serial connection between current limiting elements, but the temperature tended to have similar values at higher voltages. On the other hand, bi-spiral shape was severe at insulation level between current limiting lines. When these aspects were considered, we concluded that a meander shape was appropriate to design for a resistive SFCL based on thin films except the concentration of electric field at edge areas of strip lines.
XRF, XRD, EPMA have been used to investigate microstructures and mineralogical changes caused by the faulting and fluids associated with faulting in the Quaternary fault gouge zones at the Sangchon, Ipsil and Wangsan faults located at the southeastern part of the Korean Peninsula. The chemical compositions of faulted rocks and protoliths analyzed by XRF show that the fault gouges are relatively enriched in TiO$_2$, P$_2$O$_{5}$, MgO, and Fe$_2$O$_3$) compared with protoliths, indicating that the fluids associated with faulting were highly activated. XRD results show that the fault gouges predominantly consist of quartz, feldspar, calcite and clay minerals. Clay minerals formed in the gouge zones are mainly composed of smectite characterized by a dioctahedral sheet. Based on EPMA analyses various kinds of sulfide, carbonate, phosphate minerals were identified in the gouge zones and protoliths. Xenotime of grey fault gouge of the Sangchon fault and sulfide minerals of contact andesitic rock of Ipsil fault and contact grey andesitic rock of Wangsan fault were probably formed by inflow of hydrothermal solution associated with faulting prior to the Quaternary. Carbonate minerals of contact andesitic rock and gouge zone of the Ipsil fault were formed by inflow of fluid associated with faulting prior to the Quaternary. They are heavily fractured and have reaction rim on their edge, indicating that faultings and inflow of fluids were highly activated after carbonate minerals were formed. Calcites of Wangsan fault seemed to be formed in syntectonic or posttectonic Quaternary faulting.g.
