  • Background: Although a physician may be the nearest to the radiation source during C-arm fluoroscope-guided interventions, the radiographer is also near the fluoroscope. We prospectively investigated the radiation exposure of radiographers relative to their location. Methods: The effective dose (ED) was measured with a digital dosimeter on the radiographers' left chest and the side of the table. We observed the location of the radiographers in each procedure related to the mobile support structure of the fluoroscope (Groups A, M and P). Data about age, height, weight, sex, exposure time, radiation absorbed dose (RAD), and the ED at the radiographer's chest and the side of the table was collected. Results: There were 51 cases for Group A, 116 cases for Group M and 144 cases for Group P. No significant differences were noted in the demographic data such as age, height, weight, and male to female ratio, and exposure time, RAD and ED at the side of the table. Group P had the lowest ED ($0.5{\pm}0.8{\mu}Sv$) of all the groups (Group A, $1.6{\pm}2.3{\mu}Sv$; Group M, $1.3{\pm}1.9{\mu}Sv$; P < 0.001). The ED ratio (ED on the radiographer's chest/ED at the side of the table) of Group A was the highest, and the ED radio of Group P was the lowest of all the groups (Group A, $12.2{\pm}21.5%$; Group M, $5.7{\pm}6.5%$; Group P, $2.5{\pm}6.7%$; P < 0.001). Conclusions: Radiographers can easily reduce their radiation exposure by changing their position. Two steps behind the mobile support structure can effectively decrease the exposure of radiographers by about 80%.

  • The important drawback of epoxy electrodeposition(ED) coatings is the lack of the weathering resistance caused by the structure of bisphenol A. To improve this yellowing phenomena, acryl ED coatings have been developed. Compared with the epoxy ED coatings, however, acryl ED coatings are relatively weak in the corrosion resistance and mechanical properties. The purpose of this study is complemented their drawbacks by mixing epoxy and acryl ED paints. The salt spray, accelerated weathering test(QUV) and cupping, bending, impact test were employed to investigate the corrosion resistance, weathering resistance, and mechanical properties of ED coatings. When the ratio of acryl to epoxy resin of ED coating is 0.33, the weathering resistances are appropriately improved in condition maintaining the corrosion resistance. It was shown that the weathering resistance for epoxy ED coating was adjusted by optimally mixing acryl ED paint.

  • Monocyte chemoattractant protein-1(MCP-1) is released from the macrophages and endothelial cells, regulated luteotropic and luteolytic actions of macrophages and induced luteolysis. However, the mechanisms of MCP-1 on the development and maintenance of pregnant corpora lutea are thoroughly unknown. In this experiment, TUNEL stain, ED1, ED2, and MCP-1 immunohistochemistry on the corpora lutea of pregnant rats were carried out to reveal the role of macrophages in the developing corpora lutea. In the postpartum corpora lutea, the number of macrophages was increased significantly, and the intensity of ED1 and ED2 immunoreactivity in macrophages were increased moderately, and MCP-1 immunoreactivity was also increased. In conclusion, macrophages in the postpartum corpora lutea may exert phagocytic action mainly, and the macrophages in the pregnant corpora lutea maintain the structure and function of lutein cells.

  • Most of mechanical structures are combined of substructures such as beam and/or plates. There are few system with unibody structures but are not a few systems with united body structures. Generally the dynamic analysis of whole structures is perform ed under alternating load. However, the analysis of each joint area is more important than others for zero severity. This paper presents the results of analysis of concentration stress in bolt jointed structure with variable preload. At frist, a static vibration test was performed to find out a nominal stress of bolt joint ed plates from the relationship between natural frequency and nominal stress. Then a concentration stress was computed at contact point between bolt and plate in the structure. It is believed that the proposed method has promising implications for safer design with fatigue quality index of stress concentration factor and has merit for cost down and saving time at the beginning of vehicle development.

  • A cytotoxic coumarin against L1210 cell was isolated from the unripe fruit of Poncirus trifoliata ($ED_{5}$) = 10.2 $\mu$ g/ml. Its structure was identified as aurapten, 7-geranyloxycoumarin. Hydrolysis of the substance gave umbelliferone and geraniol. Only geraniol showed the cytotoxic activity ($ED_{53}$ = 6.5 $\mu$g/ml) while umbelliferone and its methyl or allyl derivatives were not active.

  • A strategy for phase identification of precipitates in high Al-containing austenitic and ferritic steels using electron diffraction (ED) is studied. Comparative studies of the various Al-containing precipitates (k-carbide, $Ni_3Al$, $Fe_3Al$, FeAl) show the similarities of crystal structure and lattice parameter. However, the slight differences of lattice parameter and structure display characteristic ED patterns (EDPs) which can be identified. $L1_2$ k-carbide and $Ni_3Al$ can be differentiated by the length of ${\rightarrow}_g$ (the reciprocal lattice vector), even though they show perfectly identical shapes of EDPs. $DO_3$ $Fe_3Al$ and $B_2$ FeAl show the characteristic EDs in [110] and [112] beam directions due to the differences of Fe site occupancies in unit cells. k-carbide, $Ni_3Al$, and FeAl show also the similar EDs in [112], [112], and [110] beam directions, respectively. All the possible similarities of EDs among each phases and the strategy for phase identification are discussed on the bases of kinematical ED simulation.

  • An Edwards curve cryptography (EdCC) core supporting point scalar multiplication (PSM) on Edwards curves of Edwards25519 and Edwards448 was designed. For area-efficient implementation, finite field multiplier based on word-based Montgomery multiplication algorithm was designed, and the extended twisted Edwards coordinates system was adopted to implement point operations without division operation. As a result of synthesizing the EdCC core with 100 MHz clock, it was implemented with 24,073 equivalent gates and 11 kbits RAM, and the maximum operating frequency was estimated to be 285 MHz. The evaluation results show that the EdCC core can compute 299 and 66 PSMs per second on Edwards25519 and Edwards448 curves, respectively. Compared to the ECC core with similar structure, the number of clock cycles required for 256-bit PSM was reduced by about 60%, resulting in 7.3 times improvement in computational performance.

  • The counter-diffusion of two gaseous substances permeating a polymeric membrane has been investigated both experimentally and theoretically. The aim of the study was to find mutual effects, if any, that could influence the permeability and diffusivity data. The experimental data were obtained with an isostatic permeameter operating at ambient pressure and 303 K: helium, nitrogen, carbon dioxide methane were used as permeating gas at different partial pressure; helium or nitrogen as equilibrating or carrier gas. No evident mutual effect of the counter-diffusing gas was observed. The theoretical analysis gave some insight into the phenomena and it was concluded that at near-atmospheric pressures, and in the absence of swelling phenomena no mutual interaction exists. On a theoretical basis any mutual interaction between diffusing and counter-diffusing gases could only occur: i) at high pressures , when the free movement of permeating gas molecules within the polymer is hindered by the counter-diffusing gas; ii) when a large part of the free volume fraction is occupied by the counter--diffusing gas; iii) swelling phenomena modify the structure and free volume fraction of the polymer.

  • In this study, we conducted heat-treatment on freshwater cultured pearls at various conditions in other to improve their color. Also, after heat treatment, we used the UV-Vis, ED-XRF and SEM to investigate changes freshwater cultured pearls' color, composition and internal structure. UV-Vis analysis showed the reflectivity of samples increased at most heat-treatment conditions although the reflectivity decreased at a certain temperature and duration. At $100^{\circ}c$/8 h, $120^{\circ}c$/6 h and $140^{\circ}c$/4 h, the reflectivity increased highest. In proportion to reflectivity increase, freshwater cultured pearls' color was improved. Ca, Mn, Sr and other micro elements were found from ED-XRF analysis. However, changes in composition of elements were not detected. It was found that the content of Mn in freshwater cultured pearl is higher than other micro elements. From SEM analysis, aragonite's shape was shown in narce and some of the narce were condensed after heat treatment.
