Energy required, air emission, and solid waste generation are calculated with available foreign data ad domestic status using Life Cycle Analysis in order to compare the environmental impact of beverage containers such as PET bottle, aluminum can, glass bottle, and paper pack. Glass bottles are found to be the worst acceptability when considering only recycling rate of glass cullet, however it becomme the best when the refill(reuse) rate of glass bottles is accounted into. To assess tile current and future environmental impact of beverage containers, energy required, air emission, solid waste generation of current data and recycling goals are compared. As a result of the study, recycling of each containers and the reuse of glass bottles must be increased by governmental enforcement to reduce the environmental impacts by beverage containers. Further study on this subject using detailed LCA(life cycle assessment) data should be implemented for the exact environmental and economic assessment.

Pursuing sustainable development throughout society and industry and the field of environmental policy, each international organization or nation has performed international standardization projects on environmental management activities for their system as well as environmental assessment for a product such as life cycle assessment (LCA) and life cycle inventory database (LCI DB), and the environmental aspects have been increasingly demanded as crucial evaluation specifications. Moreover, the conventional environmental policy, which represents the direct-control, has been more dependent on the market forces and product itself after the Climate Change Convention., and the Integrated Product Policy (IPP, EU) is applied vigorously to strengthen global competitiveness of a product and to achieve the effect of environmental improvement for it. According to change of the international railway market, the value of Eco-Design has been increasingly important in developed countries including EU. Thus, each country is establishing its own guidelines, software and database for each product, and developing new policies through Eco-Design with practical results in marketing. To react this and develop Korean railway as an environment-friendly industry with priority to other transportation system as well as maintain high place in technology, the direction of RACE software development of main function is introduced, which is exclusively used for EMU to assess both environmental and economic aspects with LCA and eco-efficiency (EE).
The present study has been conducted economic analysis of heat storage type ground source heat pump system(HSGSHP) and normal ground source heat pump (GSHP) and central boiler system with individual air conditioning facility which are installed at the same building in the shared an apartment house. Cost items, such as initial construction cost, annual energy cost and maintenance cost of each system are considered to analyze life cycle cost (LCC) and simple payback period (SPP) with initial cost different are compared. The initial cost is a rule to the Government basic unit cost of production. LCC applied present value method is used to assess economical profit of both of them. Variables used to LCC analysis are prices escalation rate and interest rate mean values of during latest 10 years. The LCC result shows that HSGSHP (1,351,000,000won) is more profitable than central boiler system with individual air conditioning facility by 86.7% initial cost. And SPP appeared 8.0 year overcome the different initial cost by different annual energy cost.

Recently, ground source heat pump systems are being used in buildings for cooling and heating to reduce greenhouse gas and save energy. However, ground source heat pump systems mainly use the vertical closed-loop geothermal system design rather than the open-loop geothermal system design. This is due to a lack of knowledge and few research feasibility studies. In this research, a dynamic thermal analysis numerical simulation based on a standard house model was conducted for an open-loop geothermal system. Based on heating load analysis results, the life cycle costs of a standard house using an open two-well geothermal system were analyzed and compared with a vertical closed-loop geothermal system, and a diesel boiler. As a result, it was found that using an open two-well geothermal system shows economic return on investment after three years.

Private companies will get back their investment by leasing facilities to the government, Since act on private participation in infrastructure were changed in January 2005, BTL(Build Transfer Lease) project of introduced in the domestic construction market for the purpose of providing public facilities with the public. BTL projects is for with approximately project life cycle form plan to maintenance the success of the project totally depends on the capability and role of concessionaire. Accordingly, this study is aimed to improve in order to proceed with BTL project efficiently, a clear standard for the item of evaluation was presented.
Korean textile and fashion companies have played a major role not only in developing the Korean economy since Korea's industrialization started in the early 1960s but also in providing opportunities to form and expand chaebols (conglomerates of family-owned businesses). This study reviewed and analyzed the historical development of chaebols, which started the fiber/textile/fashion business before the 1960s and maintained their chaebol status until 2010. The Samsung, Samyang, Kolon, Taekwang, Hyosung, LG, and SK groups were included in the study, and data were collected from diverse sources, including the publications and websites of the chaebol companies, newspapers, magazines, and research articles. The strategies of the companies at the corporate and group levels were examined based on the corporate lifecycle, which consists of existence, growth, maturity, rebirth, and decline stages. The results showed that all the analyzed companies actively engaged in product line expansion during the growth stage. Vertical integration, especially backward integration, was common during the growth stage. Some groups established new companies to manage additional product lines and integration, while others pursued growth strategies mainly at the corporate level. The rebirth stage occurred in only a few companies and groups. Some seemed to be going through the decline stage, and the rest of the groups exited the textile and fashion business.

The primary objective of this study is to develop a conceptual design of automated pothole patching machine that improves the conventional work in safety, quality, and productivity. For this, the following research works are conducted sequentially; 1)literature review, 2)selection of element technology for conceptual design, 3)deduction of work process and conceptual design, 4)life cycle cost analysis of the conceptual design. As a result, X-Y table telescopic manipulator, pothole patching end effector, realtime pothole recognizer, 3D pothole volume profiler, automated pothole patching machine controller are selected as core technologies. Furthermore, a conceptual design and working process of an automated pothole patching machine are developed based on the core technologies. According to the life cycle cost analysis result, the cost of the automated method was 38.3% less than that of the conventional method, and the economic efficiency was also superior(ROR 77.1%, Break-even Point 23.8month). It is expected that the application range and impact on the construction industry will be enormous due to the increasing trend of road maintenance market.
The use of cultured meat, also known as in vitro meat, is claimed to be a way of meeting the growing demand for meat worldwide in a safe and disease-free manner, without sacrificing animal and lowering greenhouse gas emissions. However, its economic feasibility is limited by its cost, scale-up complexity, public neophobia and technophobia, and an imperfect knowledge of its impacts on human health. Cultured meat, which is obtained from stem cells using tissue engineering techniques, has been described as a potential alternative to the current meat production systems, which have extensive negative effects. To ensure that a food product is safe for human consumption, it is important to consider all aspects of its life cycle. In this context, the current review analyzes the major elements of the cultured meat life cycle, including the incorrect use of chemicals, such as pesticides or antibiotics, as well as improper processing and storage methods that determine the food safety of cultured meat. The purpose of this review is to determine food safety, health issues, and the potential risks associated with cultured meat production.

The new paradigm called 'Low Carbon Green Growth' involved in reducing greenhouse gas is on the rise as a critical issue worldwide. The essential of Kyoto protocol issued in 1997 is to achieve the sustainable economic growth environments by converting existing production system to eco-friendly one. The protocol imposes the liability to reduce greenhouse gas to the countries joined to it. The paradigm is directly involved in the energy consumption and environmental pollution caused by construction activities. Value Engineering which are mainly applied in the design phase in practice is a measure to improve the value of a constructed facility by analyzing and/or appraising the functions and costs of it. However, an appropriate method which assesses eco-friendliness of constructed facility has not been propose by researchers. This paper proposes a method which assesses the performance involved in eco-friendliness of constructed facility using Value Engineering (VE) in the design phase. The method estimates the environmental cost relative to the amounts of energy consumption and environmental pollution occurred over the entire project life cycle. The database called "Life Cycle Inventory DB", which stores information about the amounts of environmental pollution, is used. The algorithm which retrieves the amounts of environmental pollutions from the DB and converts them into environmental costs is developed. The algorithm is implemented into a system which quantifies the eco-friendliness of constructed facility in the design phase using VE.
High-rise buildings often can accommodate the population of small horizontal cities. The investment in high-rise buildings is considerable and therefore a rapid return on investment is necessary. The immediate availability of high-rise buildings can be achieved by automated prefabrication of highly finished modules and their instant on-site assembly by robotic and automated construction sites. A high-rise building as a vertical city can be considered as a sophisticated organism that can constantly change throughout its lifecycle in response to economic growth, demographic change, and environmental pressures. To date, many new urban high-rise developments claim to be "vertical cities", yet few represent this important characteristic. This article analyzed the technological readiness and innovations in the field of construction automation and robotics including single-task construction robots, automated on-site construction factories, and ambient assisted living. These technological advances enable the realization of future vertical cities that are able to continuously grow and transform in terms of form and function. Finally, the article proposes a visionary archetype of vertical city in the name of "dynamic vertical urbanism" that is easy to expand vertically and horizontally in order to achieve instant availability and full life cycle resilience thanks to advanced building technologies.
