  • The purpose of the study was to develop family-based intervention program to be implemented and disseminated via "Healthy Family-Support Center." This preventive-empowerment program was designed to intervene with parenting mildly handicapped children enrolled at integrated kindergarten. The theoretical backgrounds employed were ecological theory, preventive family-based intervention approach, and theraplay theory. The pretest-posttest control-group design with random assignment was applied. The research model yielded a significant intervention effect(t=-1.294, p<0.05) on mothers' parenting stress. With proven effectiveness of family-based intervention program, the study further discussed why an ecological, family-based intervention model was a relevant alternative to investigate issues in family welfare, and why an individualized family service plan was a relevant tool to deliver services-in-context for the families who needed supports from exo-and macrosystems.

  • This study was conducted to classify quality attributes for quality elements of public service targeting Gochang Jayeonmadang and analyze their impact on resident satisfaction and dissatisfaction by each service quality element by using the Kano model and the customer satisfaction coefficient and dissatisfaction coefficient of Timko(1993). As a result of the study, all 20 quality elements of public service were classified as one-dimensional attributes. Since the Jayeonmadang project restores the damaged natural environment and restores the ecosystem, it is judged that satisfaction is proportionately satisfied as the natural environment has been restored and the ecosystem has been restored. According to Timko (1993)'s analysis of customer satisfaction coefficient, it is believed that the most effective way to improve residents' satisfaction is to carefully establish and implement maintenance plans and to create a good environment to ensure that plants have settled.

  • The sponge city construction is being carried out in China, and how to reasonably determine the scale of the sponge city facilities is a key point that the planners and designers should seriously solve. In this paper, taking determination of the sponge city facilities in a residential building in Shenzhen as an example, the layout and scales of the rainwater tanks, raingardens, ecological roofs and permeable pavements are decided by using the volumetric method and stormwater management model (SWMM). The calculated results by the two methods are compared and analyzed. The results show that the scales of the sponge city facilities determined by the two methods are almost the same, and it means that any method can be used to determine the scale of sponge city facilities. The volumetric method is relatively simple, and it is suggested to use to determine the scale of sponge city facilities during planning stage. While SWMM is more complex and requires a lot of input conditions, but it can provide the reduction effects of the sponge city facilities for rainfalls with different recurrence periods. Therefore, SWMM is recommended to use the calculation of the hydrological process of the sponge city facilities during the design stage.

  • This article deals with an economic evalutation of the 'Pasture Project of Kum River', which is the farming plan of mitten crabs in a stream of it. An augmented model of social capital is based on the past ecological-economic system dynamics model and elaborated further with suggestions of social capital literature. During the modeling process a chain diagram of causal relations and its relevant mathematical equations are presented for simulating the project performance, and the simulation results are provided to contrast the dynamic behaviors of the former ecological-economic model with ones of the new model incorporating social capital. The results indicate that an increase in the economic benefit of the project could happen in case of considering the process of social capital accumulation around the case area, which can be regarded as a remarkable trial to approve the common confidence in the role of social capital to enhance an economic achievement.

  • The first purpose of this study is to evaluate the usefulness of pork traceability data, which is monthly time-series data, and to draw implications with regard to its usefulness. The second purpose is to construct a dynamic ecological equation model (DEEM) that reflects the biological characteristics at each growth stage, such as pregnancy, birth and growth, and the slaughter of pigs, using traceability data. With the monthly pig model devised in this study, it is expected that the number of slaughtered animals (supply) that can be shipped in the future is predictable and that policy simulations are possible. However, this study was limited to traceability data and focused only on building a supply-side model. As a result of verifying the traceability data, it was found that approximately 6% of farms produce by mixing great grand parent (GGP), grand parent (GP), parent stock (PS), and artificial insemination (AI), meaning that it is necessary to separate them by business type. However, the analysis also showed that the coefficient values estimated by constructing an equation for each growth stage were consistent with the pig growth outcomes. Also, the model predictive power test was excellent. For this reason, it is judged that the model design and traceability data constructed with the cohort and the dynamic ecological equation model system considering biological growth and shipment times are excellent. Finally, the model constructed in this study is expected to be used as basic data to inform producers in their decision-making activities and to help with governmental policy directions with regard to supply and demand. Research on the demand side is left for future researchers.

  • This study aims at establishing an ecological planning for road construction. which is considered to be a main cause of damage to the natural environment in Korea. This study focuses on the Pyungtak-Eumsung Highway development project. It considers the ecological factors and status of the site and its surrounding area. The study site is a four-way highway with a width of 23.4m and a length of 5.7km that spans from Hyungok-ri, Anseong City, Kyeonggi Province to Jukhyun-ri, Jincheon-gun, Chungbuk Province. The objective of the plan is "the establishment of an eco-road in harmony with nature." The plan is divided into five detailed goals: 1) restoration of river morphology and ecosystem through ecological planning; 2) establishment of wet biotopes; 3) construction of ecological corridors; 4) restoration of damaged forest ecosystems; and 5) ecological restoration of the roadside slopes that are linked with the surrounding forest. A master plan has been developed based on the detailed goals. The master plan involves: 1) establishment of a natural river, wet biotopes, and ecological corridors that facilitate the movement of amphibians, wild fowls, mammalians and fish; 2) development of a planting plan for the visitor center, the tunnel entrance, and soundproof banks; and 3) the presentation of a planting model for restoring roadside slopes that are connected to the surrounding forest. The eco-road plan needs to entail ecological conservation and restoration plans. In addition, a monitoring plan for ecological corridors and habitats should be included in the comprehensive plans, along with the continuous development of environmentally friendly technologies.

  • The purpose of this study is to detect the protection area around the Geum-buk and Geum-nam Mountains for making a sustainable ecological network. The protection area in the Geum-buk and Geum-nam Mountains was analyzed by using spatial data and a field survey for landscape conservation purposes. A survey scope was fixed using digital elevation model, and the protection area was finally determined based on the parcel map called as the Korea Land Information System (KLIS). Here we have several conclusions in this study. First, spatial data used in this study were a map of ecological and natural degree (MEND), forest distribution map, elevation map, slope map, and several maps for the protection area assigned by laws regarding to the natural resources. Second, we used 4 alternatives to determine the best choice for showing the ecological network in the study area. One alternative (alt. 3) of 4 ones was finally chosen as the best condition for making the ecological network. The condition in elevation and slope was a little modified to a lower level in alt, 3. The result derived from alt, 3 reflected the continuity and connectivity in the ecological network and we estimate that the protection area can protect the core area using the buffer zone around the ecological network. Finally the parcel-based protection area in the Geum-buk and Geum-nam Mountains had $493.92km^2$ of the core area, and $233.99km^2$ of the buffer zone, which means the parcel-based protection area increased by $97.76km^2$ in the core area, but decreased by $76.61km^2$ as of in the topographical map.

  • The three-dimensional eco-hydrodynamic model was applied to estimate the autochthonous COD caused by production of phytoplankton in Jinhae Bay. A residual current was simulated, using a hydrodynamic model, to have a sightly complicated pattern in the inner part of the bay, ranging from 0.001 to 5 cm/s. In the outer part of the bay, the simulated current flowed out to the south sea with a southward flow at a maximum of 25 cm/s. The results of the ecological model simulation of COD levels showed high concentrations, exceeding 4 mg/L, in the inner bay of Masan, an area of wastewater discharge, and lower levels, approaching less than 1 mg/L, closer to the outer part of the bay. The simulation results of Autochthonous COD by two methods using ecological modeling, showed high ratio over 70% of total COD. Therefore, it is more important to consider nutrients than organic matters in the region for control COD standard.
