Early Childhood Teachers' Perception about Early Childhood Music Activity (유아음악활동에 대한 유아교사의 인식)

  • This study is investigating the perceptions of early childhood teachers on early childhood music activity. The subjects are early childhood teachers(N=217) working at kindergartens and day care centers in Jeonbuk Province. The data were collected from a questionnaire and analyzed with the tests of frequency, Cronbach's $\alpha$, t-test, ANOVA and Duncan. The results are as follow: first, the early childhood teachers are being aware of importance of infant music activity in the order of "aesthetic exploration", "artistic expression", and "art appreciation". Second, according to teachers' working place, the teachers have no differences of perception in early childhood music activities, while, according to children's age in the class which the teachers are taking charge of, they show differences of perception in the activities of "exploring movements " and "respect for artistic expression". Third, according to the early childhood teacher's career, they have difference of perception in "singing" activity only, while according to their education level, they have no differences of perception in all music activities. According to teachers' age, they have differences of perception in the activities of "aesthetic exploration", "exploring sound", and "singing".

A study on related factors of parent's participation intention for early childhood secondhand smoke prevention (유아간접흡연 예방에 대한 부모의 참여의도 관련변인 연구)

  • This study aims to 1) examine the difference of parent's participation intention for early childhood secondhand smoke prevention depending on sex, education level, income level, and smoking or nonsmoking of parent, parent's knowledge and attitude of early childhood secondhand smoke 2) estimate the influence of independent factors on parent's participation intention for early childhood secondhand smoke prevention centering around factors stated previously, and 3) suggest effective strategies to ultimately encourage parent's behavior for early childhood secondhand smoke prevention. A total of 279 parents with four- and five-year-old day care children participated in this study. The following are the main results of this study. First, the higher the level of income parent had, the higher the level of participation intention for early childhood secondhand smoke prevention parent had. Second, nonsmoking parent exhibited higher level of participation intention than smoking parent. Finally, parent's knowledge and attitude of early childhood secondhand smoke had influence on parent's participation intention for early childhood secondhand smoke prevention, but parent's attitude had a high degree of influence on parent's participation intention.

Extracting Technical Vocabulary List for Early Childhood Education Using EAP Specialized Corpus (EAP 전문 코퍼스를 활용한 유아교육 전문 어휘 추출)

  • The aim of this research is the development and evaluation of a technical vocabulary list for early childhood education. The list was compiled from a corpus of 500,000 running words of written academic texts from 7 books about early childhood education. The distribution of GSL[1] and AWL[2] was 81.86% and 9.78% respectively, which meant that academic texts related to early childhood education is very similar with ones on other disciplines. The technical vocabulary list for early childhood education (TV4ECE), extracted in terms of frequency and range, contains 224 types. This word list can be used to teach early childhood education in English, especially for the preparation of reading the English texts in the field of early childhood education.

Seeking application of Kye Rak Choi's verse to early childhood education (최계락 동시의 유아교육에의 적용 방안 모색)

  • This study was carried out to find a way to apply Kye Rak Choi, a representative writer of romanticism, to the early childhood education. For the study, the analysis was performed on 95. First, Kye Rak Choi study related to Kye Rak Choi and Kye Rak Choi work were examined. Next, I examined the implementation plan of simultaneous class which is being used in early childhood education and searched how to apply Kye Rak Choi work. The subject of the work was analyzed in order to apply Kye Rak Choi 's concurrent to early childhood education. There were many works utilizing the four seasons and nature, and these works were suitable for use in early childhood education. There is a way to apply Kye Rak Choi's work to early childhood education, to utilize sheer, to write a reply, to share stories by context. Kye Rak Choi had written many works emphasizing lyricism, and these works can be a good medium to connect with the child's sensitivity.

Analysis on Research Trends of Early Childhood Software Education: Korean Articles Published in 2017 Through 2022 (유아 소프트웨어교육 관련 연구동향 분석: 2017년~2022년 국내 학술지 논문을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the research trends of Korean articles on early childhood software education. For this purpose, 55 articles published in domestic KCI journals on the topic of early childhood software education from 2017 to 2022 were selected for analysis and analyzed according to the year of publication, research method, and research topic. The results showed that, first, research on early childhood software education in Korean journals was first published in 2017 and continued to be conducted every year until 2022. Second, in terms of research methods, the research type was 'quantitative research,' the data collection method was 'literature survey,' and the data analysis methods were 'descriptive statistical analysis' and 'literature analysis.' In addition, 'infants' and 'kindergarten teachers' were the most common research subjects. Third, the analysis of research topics showed that 'analyzing the relationship between variables in early childhood software education' was the most common. Based on these results, we recommended research topics on early childhood software education for the future.

Early childhood teacher's awareness for mathematics education and outdoor movement activity

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the teacher's awareness and needs for early childhood mathematics education and outdoor movement activities. The study participants were eight kindergarten teachers located in Korea. in-depth interviews were conducted with teachers on 2014.04. ~ 2014.07. Interviews were held twice each, semi-structured with the order and content of the questions adjusted. As a result of analyzing and categorizing the collected data, the results were 'Early teacher's awareness of mathematics education', 'Early teacher's awareness of outdoor movement activities', and 'Educational teacher's awareness of mathematics activities linked to outdoor movement activities'. The conclusions of this study are as follows. First, the model of early childhood teacher for mathematics education and outdoor movement should be presented. Second, there is a need for ways to improve the teacher's confidence in mathematics education and outdoor movement.

  • This research investigated the opinions of teachers and directors on the integration of early childhood education and childcare centers in Korea. Participants were 800 teachers and directors working with young children in kindergartens and childcare centers. The survey consisted of questions regarding reasons, feasibility, and means of integration, as well as tasks that should be achieved prior to integration. Results showed that the participants were skeptical about executing the integration in practice even though they agreed to the integration of education and care in early childhood. They reported the integration of auspices should take place prior to integration of education and care in early childhood.

Impact on the Collective Claims and Conflict Resolution Strategies Related to Infant Policy Integration

  • The state adopts the policies based on the goals pursued by the state and provides a basic policy for administrative activities related to early childhood education. Therefore, early childhood education policy should be established organically in consultant with the social consent in advance. In most countries will bear the costs of child care and early childhood education can reduce the financial burden of parents and early childhood education consumers are able to understand the will of the government to support the child care services, which they need in a variety of way. The conflict is deepening - among policy officials, front-line institutions participating in policy implementation, and parents - surrounding the infant and early childhood education. And the conflict has caused the difference between this policy and claims that cannot find hardly a solution. In this study, we argue how the policy differences between groups involved in the policy to analyze the influence, to find the policy conflict resolution strategies.

Child Development Knowledge and Early Childhood Teacher Education: A Post Modern Perspective (포스트 모더니즘적 관점에서 본 아동발달지식과 유아기 교사교육)

  • This study discusses the interpretation and application of a post modern perspective to child development knowledge and early childhood teacher education. The survey of literature focused on the post modern approach to child development knowledge and early childhood teacher education, research in the reassessment of child development knowledge as it is challenged by the post modern perspective, and deconstruction of both child development knowledge and early childhood teacher education. It was concluded that child development knowledge is necessary but insufficient to early childhood teacher education. In the post modern perspective, the movement toward fostering "reflective practitioners" and basic knowledge base is more significant. Therefore, the responsibility of academics is to walk the fine line between presenting a formal knowledge base so that students gain assumption to guide their thinking and practice, critiquing both theory and derived practices.

Early Childhood Teachers' Perception of STEAM and Activation Measures for STEAM (융합인재교육(STEAM)에 대한 유아교사의 인식 및 활성화 방안)

  • Objective: This study aims to investigate early childhood teachers' perception of STEAM and suggest activation measures for STEAM according to teachers' background variables. Methods: The researchers conducted a pilot study, and then did survey research for 5 weeks. The participants of this study included 523 teachers of early childhood education institutions in Gwangju metropolitan city and Jeollanam-do Province. Results: The results of this study were as follows. First, early childhood teachers perceived the necessity of STEAM differently according to their age, experience, and academic background. The higher their age, experience, and academic background were, the more they wanted to participate in further teacher training and education. In particular, early childhood teachers' perception and activation measures were very different according to their workplace. These results come from the fact that the conditions in conducting STEAM are different according to their workplace. Conclusion/Implications: In order to activate STEAM, a teacher training program including practical contents and methods should be conducted. Also, it is necessary to carefully organize the content and structure of the teacher training program according to their workplace. This study is meaningful in terms of suggesting activation measures for STEAM by showing how early childhood teachers think about STEAM and what they demand.
