Evaluation of Two ELISA and Two Indirect Hemagglutination Tests for Serodiagnosis of Pulmonary Hydatid Disease

  • To establish a definite diagnosis for pulmonary hydatid disease, combination of radiology and serology is useful. In this study, 19 preoperative sera from patients with surgically confirmed pulmonary hydatidosis, 40 sera from patients with other parasitosis and pulmonary diseases, and 20 sera from healthy donors were evaluated using 4 different serological tests, i.e., the commercial ELISA (ELISA-kit) test, the ELISA (ELISA-lab) test prepared in our laboratory, the commercial indirect hemagglutination assay kit (IHA-kit) test, and the IHA test using sensitized sheep red blood cells with tannic acid (IHA-TA). The ELISA-kit was the most sensitive (84.2%) and the most specific test (100.0%). The ELISA-kit also demonstrated the highest positive (100.0%) and negative (95.2%) predictive values. The sensitivity of the ELISA-lab test, that we prepared, was found to be 73.6%, whereas the IHA-kit test and the IHA-TA test were found to be 73.6% and 68.4%, respectively. The specificity of these tests was 96.6%, 98.3%, and 83.3%, respectively. When all 4 tests were assessed together, it was found that the sensitivity had risen to 94.7%. When the ELISA-kit was assessed with the IHA-kit and IHA-TA together, it was found that the sensitivity was 89.5% and 84.2%, respectively. Likewise, the combination of the ELISA-lab and IHA-kit or IHA-TA allowed us to achieve a sensitivity of 84.2% in cases of pulmonary echinococcosis. In conclusion, the diagnosis would be imminent if least 2 tests were applied together.

  • Objectives: Through using of the strong research method like a Randomized Controlled Trial: RCT, we have to heighten quality of Medical Education study. I'd like to introduce "CONSORT", which stands for Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials. Contents: Preventive Service Task Force(200l) in USA proposed Levels of evidence for enlarging evidence-based Practice: EBP. And the CONSORT was introduced, which encompasses various initiatives developed by the CONSORT Group to alleviate the problems arising from inadequate reporting of randomized controlled trials (RCTs). the CONSORT has 13 guides like these: 1. How participants were allocated to interventions 2. Scientific background and explanation of rationale 3. Eligibility criteria for participants. The settings and locations where the data were collected. 4. Precise details of the interventions intended for each group and how and when they were actually administered 5. Specific objectives and hypotheses 6. Clearly defined primary and secondary outcome measures, When applicable. any methods to enhance the quality of measurements (e.g., multiple observations, training of assessors) 7. How sample size was determined. When applicable, explanation of any interim analyses and stopping rules 8. Method used to generate the random allocation sequence, Details of any restriction [of randomization] 9. Method used to implement the random allocation sequence 10. Who generated the allocation sequence, who enrolled participants. and who assigned participants to their groups 11. Whether or not participants, those administering the interventions, and those assessing the outcomes were blinded to group assignment. If done, how the success of blinding was evaluated 12. Statistical methods used to compare groups for primary outcome(s), Methods for additional analyses, such as subgroup analyses and adjusted analyses 13. Flow of participants through each stage (a diagram is strongly recommended) Specifically, for each group report the numbers of participants randomly assigned. receiving intended treatment, completing the study protocol. and analyzed for the primary outcome. Results and Conclusion: Randomized Controlled Trial: RCT guided of CONSORT will contribute to do stronger evidence-based medical studies.

중성자 조사 및 열처리에 따른 SA508 C1.3강의 자기특성 변화

  • 자기측정법에 의한 조사손상 평가 가능성을 조사하기 위하여 SA508 CI.3강 모재금속의 중성자 조사 및 열처리 온도에 따른 자기특성(자기이력곡선, Barkhausen Noise(BN) 진폭, BN 에너지)과 경도 변화를 측정 비교하였다. 중성자 조사에 따라 자화율, BN 진폭, BN 에너지는 감소하였고 보자력과 경도는 증가하였으며, 포화자화 값은 변화하지 않았다. 열처리된 조사시편의 경우, 열처리 온도 증가에 따라 BN 에너지는 증가하였으며, 경도는 감소하였다. 결함과 전위혹은 자벽 이동과의 상호작용에 의한 경도 및 자기특성의 일관성 있는 변화는 원자로 압력용기 재료의 조사손상 평가와 관련 자기적 측정법 응용 가능성을 보여주었다.

  • INTRODUCTION : Psoralens are planar tricyclic furocoumarins present in numerous plants and fungi found throughout the world.' Naturally occurring and synthesized psoralen derivatives(see Figure 1) are photosensitizers of UVA especially from 320 nm to 400 nm, a range at which cellular nucleic acids and proteins are weakly absorbing if any at all. Because of their skinphotosensitizing properties, these compounds have been used in the photochemotherapy of psoriasis and vitiligo. However, undesirable side effects such as carcinoma development in hairless mice as well as possible liver damage from the use of 8-methoxypsoralen(8-MOP) have been reported. The other photobiological effects include inactivation of DNA viruses, killing and mutagenesis of bacteria, inhibition of tumor transmitting capacity of various cells, and hyperpigmentation on human and guinea pig skin. PUVA(psoralen+UVA) photochemotherapy is in fact thousands of years old, having been used in Egypt and India since B.C. 1200-2000. Photochemotherapy for a common disfiguring disease, vitiligo, was practiced in the ancient world by physicians and herbalists who used boiled extracts of the fruits of certain umbelliferous plants, e.g. Ammi majus Linnaeus in Egypt or the leguminous plants, Psoralea corylifolia L. in India. It was first described by Kuske in 19388 that photosensitization of skin by plants was related to the presence of psoralen. He identified natural psoralens in plants as photosensitizers and isolated bergapten(5methoxypsoralen) from the oil of bergamot.   • 온라인 소매업은 인터넷 기반 회사들에게 전 세계의 온라인 고객들과 연결될 수 있는 기회를 제공했다. 그러나 많은 고객들은 온라인 지불결제 서비스의 위험성이나 사용의 어려움으로 인해 원하는 상품을 선택하고도 온라인에서 거래를 완료하지 못하는 경우가 종종 있다. 그동안 많은 연구자들이 온라인 지불결제에 영향을 미치는 요인들을 조사했지만 온라인 시장 환경이 급격하게 변화되면서 향후 5년 또는 10년 후의 전개될 상황을 예측하기란 매우 어렵다. 본 연구의 목적은 온라인 지불결제에 영향을 미치는 요인들을 검토하고 제3자 결제 회사 및 온라인 서비스 제공 업체에게 장기적인 동태적 의사 결정 모형을 제공하는데 있다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 온라인 지불결제 서비스 수용 모형을 개발하고 향후 10년 동안 전개될 상황을 시뮬레이션하기 위해 시스템 다이내믹스 기법을 사용하였다. 분석결과 온라인 지불결제 고객은 10년 안에 지속적으로 증가할 것이며 핵심 영향 요인으로는 서비스 품질, 시스템 품질 및 예상 소요시간인 것으로 나타났다.

Effect of flaking on the digestibility of corn in ruminants

  • In this study, we aimed to assess the effect of flaking on the nutrient digestibility of corn grain in ruminants. In this regard, in vitro rumen fermentation, in situ rumen degradability, and in vivo metabolic experiments were performed. The automated gas production technique was used for the in vitro fermentation experiments. Six types of corn flakes with various degrees of gelatinization (32%, 41%, 48%, 66%, 86%, and 89%) were ground and incubated in rumen fluid to measure rumen fermentation characteristics and digestion rate. The in situ degradability of ground corn, whole corn, and corn flakes with 62% and 66% gelatinization was measured by incubation in the rumen of two cannulated Holstein cows. In vivo metabolic experiments were performed using 12 crossbred goats (29.8 ± 4.37 kg) using a 3 × 3 Latin square design. The dietary treatments consisted of ground corn and flaked corn with 48% or 62% gelatinization. In vitro experiments showed that as the degree of gelatinization increased, the digestion rate increased linearly, while the discrete lag time decreased linearly (p < 0.05). The effective rumen dry matter degradability, determined by in situ fermentation, was 37%p lower in corn flakes than ground corn, assuming a passage rate of 6%/h (p < 0.01), and there was no difference between the two flakes. In the in vivo experiment, there was no difference in dry matter intake, average daily gain, feed efficiency, and nitrogen utilization among the treatment groups (p > 0.05); however, the crude fat digestibility was lower for corn flakes than for ground corn (p < 0.05). To summarize, the rate of fermentation of corn flakes increased as the degree of gelatinization increased. However, non-ground corn flakes had lower rumen digestibility and did not improve in vivo apparent nutrient digestibility, compared with ground corn. In contrast to the assumption that flaked corn provides more energy to ruminant animals than ground corn, we conclude that the digestibility and energy value of corn flakes are lower than those of ground corn if mastication does not sufficiently reduce the particle size of corn flakes.

Impact of Nursing Students' Knowledge, Moral Sensitivity, and Behavioral Beliefs on the Nursing Intention of COVID-19 Patients

  • This study is a descriptive survey research to identify factors affecting the nursing intention of nursing college students who will nurse COVID-19 patients. This study was analyzed through convenience sampling for freshmen, sophomore, junior, senior attending the Department of Nursing at E University in Gyeonggi-do from May 17 to August 11, 2022. As a result, it was found that the intention to care for COVID-19 patients increased by 20% every time the knowledge score on COVID-19 increased by 1 point . If the average score for each item in the moral sensitivity question increased by 1 point, the nursing intention increased significantly by 5.21 times, and it was found that the nursing intention for COVID-19 patients increased significantly by 6.93 times each time the average score for each behavioral belief item increased by 1 point. Based on the results of this study, it was confirmed that the higher the knowledge, moral sensitivity, and behavioral beliefs of nursing students, the higher the intention to care for new infectious disease patients. Based on the results of this study, it was confirmed that It is necessary to develop and apply educational and psychological intervention programs and integrated nursing ethics programs.

구주연합의 항공기 배출 규제 조치의 국제법적 고찰 (Legal Review on the Regulatory Measures of the European Union on Aircraft Emission)

  • 환경 문제에 있어서 세계의 리더로서 앞 서 가는 구주연합(EU)은 2012년 1월 1일부터 EU 역.내외 항공기를 막론하고 EU 회원국 영토를 출발하고 도착하는 모든 항공기 운항자에 대하여 이들 항공기 엔진에서 배출되는 이산화탄소의 배출량을 규제하는 법 Directive 2008/101/EC를 2008년 제정, 공포하였다. 이에 따라 대한항공과 아시아나를 포함하여 EU를 운항하는 많은 EU 역외 항공사들은 지난 2004-2006년 3년간 연 평균 배출량의 97%만을 2012년 배출하고 2013년부터는 95%만을 배출 허용 받으며 부족한 배출량은 배출권 거래 시장에서 구입하여 충당하여야 한다. 상기 EU 조치는 다음과 같은 법적 문제를 야기한다. 첫째, EU의 법은 범 세계적 환경조약인 교토의정서가 선진국 그룹인 기후변화협약의 Annex I 국가에게만 이산화탄소 등 지구온난화가스 배출을 감축토록 한 것에 반한다. 교토의정서 제2조 2항은 지구온난화가스 감축에 있어서 항공기 배출에 관련한 체제를 ICAO를 통하여 해결하도록 위임하였는데 지역 기구인 EU가 이를 자체 지역에만 적용하기 위하여 작성한 것도 문제이다. 둘째, 역외 항공사들이 EU로 운항하는 데에 있어서 공해와 제3국의 상공을 비행하는데 EU 역내 비행에서 이루어지지 않는 여사한 비행 중 발생하는 배출을 어떤 근거로 EU가 규제할 수 있는가이다. 셋째, EU 회원국들이 Annex I 국가로서 교토의정서 상 항공기의 국내운항 배출에 대하여서는 2012년까지 이미 배출 감축의무를 지고 있음을 감안할 때, 2012년부터 시행되는 항공기 배출 감축 조치에 non-Annex I 국가의 항공 운항자를 끌어들이면서 EU 항공사들이 적어도 2012년에는 예상치 않은 이득을 얻는다는 문제도 발생한다. 과거 유사한 EU 주도의 환경관련 국제 분쟁을 살펴본 후, 상기 EU 조치를 국제법적으로 조명하고 결론에서 EU의 조치에 대한 국내적 대처를 간략기술하였다.

  • Parallel testing means ordering a number of tests at the same time so abnormalities in any of the tests can be found quickly and used in making the diagnosis. This is a good medical strategy to eliminate diseases and it is relatively inexpensive if all the tests are potential sources of information and performed on the same analyzer. In regression, the equation for the straight line is recast as y = bx + a. This change in terminology leads to confusion. Here a is the y-intercept or constant and b is the coefficient or slope of the line. A few more words of caution about regression - as in all of statistics there are certain assumptions: the x value is a true measure, both X and Y distributions are normal, and homoscedasticity, i.e., the variance of y is the same for each value of x. In this study the linearity classification made by different scientists were always in agreement. Typical examples of curves that were considered linear are presented in Fig. 1-5. Because these automated procedures values were usually within five percent of each other the curvature could be easily detected. The plot of the WBC, RBC, hemoglobin, hematocrit and platelet concentrations from approximately 74.4 to $0{\times}10^3/{\mu}L$ and $80.4-0{\times}10^3/{\mu}L$, $5.6-0{\times}10^6/{\mu}L$ and $6.1-0{\times}1106/{\mu}L$, 18.3-0 g/dL and 19.0-0 g/dL, 54.1-0% and 56.8-0% and 642.0 to $0.03{\times}10^3{\mu}L$ and $754.0-0{\times}10^3/{\mu}L$ on the ADVIA 2120 C Versus and A and B typical of an acceptable linear study as shown in Fig. 1-5. 미래 기후변화 시나리오에 따른 우리나라 소나무 임분의 재적 추정 (Estimating Stand Volume Pinus densiflora Forest Based on Climate Change Scenario in Korea)

  • 본 연구는 우리나라 주요 수종인 소나무림을 대상으로 RCP(Representative Concentration Pathway)8.5 시나리오에 따른 임목 재적의 시 공간적 변이를 예측하기 위해 수행되었다. 전국 규모의 예측을 위해 5차임상도와 국가산림자원조사 자료를 이용하였으며, 기후와 공간의 변이가 임목 생장에 미치는 영향을 반영하기 위해 기상 및 지형인자를 반영한 생장모형을 적용하였다. 모형의 검증을 위해 시, 도별 산림통계와 모형 결과를 비교한 결과, 비교적 높은 적합도를 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 기후변화를 고려하였을 때, 소나무림의 임분 재적은 현재 $131m^3/ha$에서 2050년에는 $212.42m^3/ha$까지 증가 할 것으로 예측되었으며, 현재의 기후가 유지될 경우에는 $221.92m^3/ha$까지 증가할 것으로 예측되었다. 기후변화의 영향으로 인해 일부 고산지대를 제외한 대부분의 지역에서 소나무림의 생장률이 감소할 것으로 예측되었으며, 특히 해안지역과 남부지역에서 생장률의 감소가 클 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구결과를 통해 기후변화가 소나무림 생장에 미치는 영향을 시 공간에 따라 정량화 할 수 있었으며, 이는 기후변화 적응을 고려한 산림관리 및 시업계획을 수립하는데 유용하게 활용될 수 있을 것이다.
