  • Let R be a ring with identity $1_R$ and let U(R) denote the group of all units of R. A ring R is called locally finite if every finite subset in it generates a finite semi group multiplicatively. In this paper, some results are obtained as follows: (1) for any semilocal (hence semiperfect) ring R, U(R) is a finite (resp. locally finite) group if and only if R is a finite (resp. locally finite) ring; U(R) is a locally finite group if and only if U$(M_n(R))$ is a locally finite group where $M_n(R)$ is the full matrix ring of $n{\times}n$ matrices over R for any positive integer n; in addition, if $2=1_R+1_R$ is a unit in R, then U(R) is an abelian group if and only if R is a commutative ring; (2) for any semiperfect ring R, if E(R), the set of all idempotents in R, is commuting, then $R/J\cong\oplus_{i=1}^mD_i$ where each $D_i$ is a division ring for some positive integer m and |E(R)|=$2^m$; in addition, if 2=$1_R+1_R$ is a unit in R, then every idempotent is central.

  • In this paper, we obtain that if $\psi : E \to F$ is a fibrewise fibration then postcomposition $\psi :C_B(Y, E) \to C_B(Y, F)$ is fibrewise fibration and if (X, A) is a closed fibrewise cofibration the the precomposition $\upsilon :C_B(X, E) \to C_B(A, E)$ is also a fibrewise fibration.

  • The key technologies of GNSS receiver for GNSS sensor station are under development as a part of a GNSS ground station in ETRI. This paper presents the GNSS receiver implementation and signal processing result which is implemented based on FPGA to process the Galileo E1 and E5 signal. To verify the working and performance for GNSS receiver which is implemented based on FPGA, live signal received from GIOVE-B which is second test satellite is used. We gather GIOVE-B signal by using prototyping antenna and RF/IF units including IF-component. To verify Galileo E1 and E5 signal processing function from GIOVE-B, FPGA based signal processing module is implemented as a prototyping hardware board.

  • In this note we are concerned with relationships between one-sided ideals and two-sided ideals, and study the properties of polynomial rings whose maximal one-sided ideals are two-sided, in the viewpoint of the Nullstellensatz on noncommutative rings. Let R be a ring and R[x] be the polynomial ring over R with x the indeterminate. We show that eRe is right quasi-duo for $0{\neq}e^2=e{\in}R$ if R is right quasi-duo; R/J(R) is commutative with J(R) the Jacobson radical of R if R[$\chi$] is right quasi-duo, from which we may characterize polynomial rings whose maximal one-sided ideals are two-sided; if R[x] is right quasi-duo then the Jacobson radical of R[x] is N(R)[x] and so the $K\ddot{o}the's$ conjecture (i.e., the upper nilradical contains every nil left ideal) holds, where N(R) is the set of all nilpotent elements in R. Next we prove that if the polynomial rins R[x], over a reduced ring R with $\mid$X$\mid$ $\geq$ 2, is right quasi-duo, then R is commutative. Several counterexamples are included for the situations that occur naturally in the process of this note.

  • Let X$_1$, X$_2$‥‥,X$\_$n/ be n independent and identically distributed random variables with continuous cumulative distribution function F(x). Let us rearrange the X's in the increasing order X$\_$1:n/ $\leq$ X$\_$2:n/ $\leq$ ‥‥ $\leq$ X$\_$n:n/. We call X$\_$k:n/ the k-th order statistic. Then X$\_$n:n/ - X$\_$n-1:n/ and X$\_$n-1:n/ are independent if and only if f(x) = 1-e(equation omitted) with some c > 0. And X$\_$j/ is an upper record value of this sequence lf X$\_$j/ > max(X$_1$, X$_2$,¨¨ ,X$\_$j-1/). We define u(n) = min(j|j > u(n-1),X$\_$j/ > X$\_$u(n-1)/, n $\geq$ 2) with u(1) = 1. Then F(x) = 1 - e(equation omitted), x > 0 if and only if E[X$\_$u(n+3)/ - X$\_$u(n)/ | X$\_$u(m)/ = y] = 3c, or E[X$\_$u(n+4)/ - X$\_$u(n)/|X$\_$u(m)/ = y] = 4c, n m+1.

  • Let $E_n$ be the real ordered space of all $n{\times}n$ Hermitian Matrices and let T be a positive linear operator from $E_2$ to $E_3$. We prove in this paper that T is extreme if and only if T is unitarily equivalent to a map of the form $S_z$ for some $z{\in}C^2$ where $S_z$ is defined by $S_z(xx^*)=ww^*$, $w_i=x_iz_i$ for i = 1, 2 and $w_3=0$.

  • We prove, in this note, that a Zabavsky ring R is an elementary divisor ring if and only if R is a $B{\acute{e}}zout$ ring. Many known results are thereby generalized to much wider class of rings, e.g. [4, Theorem 14], [7, Theorem 4], [9, Theorem 1.2.14], [11, Theorem 4] and [12, Theorem 7].

  • Let ($X, \Beta, \mu$) be a measure space with the $\sigma$-algebra $\Beta$ and the probability measure $\mu$. Throughouth this article set equalities and inclusions are understood as being so modulo measure zero sets. A transformation T defined on a probability space X is said to be measure preserving if $\mu(T^{-1}E) = \mu(E)$ for $E \in B$. It is said to be ergodic if $\mu(E) = 0$ or i whenever $T^{-1}E = E$ for $E \in B$. Consider the sequence ${x, Tx, T^2x,...}$ for $x \in X$. One may ask the following questions: What is the relative frequency of the points $T^nx$ which visit the set E\ulcorner Birkhoff Ergodic Theorem states that for an ergodic transformation T the time average $lim_{n \to \infty}(1/N)\sum^{N-1}_{n=0}{f(T^nx)}$ equals for almost every x the space average $(1/\mu(X)) \int_X f(x)d\mu(x)$. In the special case when f is the characteristic function $\chi E$ of a set E and T is ergodic we have the following formula for the frequency of visits of T-iterates to E : $$ lim_{N \to \infty} \frac{$\mid${n : T^n x \in E, 0 \leq n $\mid$}{N} = \mu(E) $$ for almost all $x \in X$ where $$\mid$\cdot$\mid$$ denotes cardinality of a set. For the details, see [8], [10].
