This study aims to investigate factors affecting eBook acceptance and learning outcomes among students experiencing online distance learning. As conventional textbooks are now switched into eBooks, the effects of contextual factors including lecturer, student computer competency, content and design of the course, access ability, infrastructure, and university support on eBook acceptance and learning outcome needs to be evaluated. The sample of this study is represented by students at the Universiti Teknologi MARA, City Campus Melaka, undertaking 'strategic management course'. Non-probability random sampling was selected as the sampling technique and a purposive sampling method was chosen to select the samples. The samples comprised 171 students randomly selected through Google Form. The questionnaire data was analyzed by using PLS-SEM. The results indicated that these factors contributed 62.3% variations in the eBook acceptance and 67.1% variations in the learning outcomes. The strongest factor affecting both dependent variables was content and design of course. Managerial implication suggested that the content for all courses taught through the eBook platform needs to be revisited and improved in accordance with the mode of online deliverance. Tutorial on how to navigate the eBook platform is important to all users as this would enhance acceptance and produce better learning outcomes among students.

This study aims to check whether e-book purchase contracts have sufficient requirements to serve as legal basis for e-book lending outside the library, and also to understand the current status and characteristics of the library's e-book purchase contracts. To this end, the legal and technical environment related to e-book lending was reviewed, and the elements that must be included in the license contract were summarized as the legal basis for e-book lending. Based on this, it was analyzed whether these requirements were properly reflected in actual contract cases. For three years from 2020 to 2022, the actual 43 contracts that were bid through the Korea On-line E-Procurement System were inspected, and then problems were pointed out, and improvement measures were proposed.

This thesis will select one of the books that went out of print, and republish it using the ePub and PDF format to observe the effective and economic method to republish it as an e-book. Conclusively, e-book in PDF format was advantageous over ePub production. The ePub has limitations of electronically publishing the books went out of print prior to 21st century when storing the original text was not common, as well as book with complex layouts. The PDF format was able to capture and recreate the sensitivity that can only be presented by vintage books, also adding to the cultural value. To publish PDF e-books, the foremost requirement is to prepare a standardized system that allows comprehensive browsing of the current status of the book, and also creating an environment for copyrighted publishers to more actively publish e-books by diversifying the distribution platforms and properly allocating the profit generated by use of the copyright. This thesis provides a simulation of e-book publications, for small and medium size publishers and writers who are hesitant to publish e-books, to take more aggressive approach in entering the business.

As the number of smart devices increases, e-book contents and services are proliferating. However, the text based e-book is difficult for a hearing-impairment person to understand. In this paper, we developed an android based application in which we can choose an e-book text file and each sentence is translated to sign-language elements which are shown in videos that are retrieved from the sign-language contents server. We used the korean sentence to sign-language translation algorithm based on the morpheme analysis. The proposed translation algorithm consists of 3 stages. Firstly, some elements in a sentence are removed for typical sign-language usages. Secondly, the tense of the sentence and the expression alteration are applied. Finally, the honorific forms are considered and word positions in the sentence are revised. We also proposed a new method to evaluate the performance of the translation algorithm and demonstrated the superiority of the algorithm through the translation results of 100 reference sentences.

본 연구에서는 온라인 다중 사용자 환경의 eBook 어노테이션 시스템 개발에서 데이터를 의미 기반으로 관리하고, 데이터에 대하여 상호 공통적인 이해를 표현하며, 그리고 데이터에 대한 무결성 검사 등을 지원하기 위해서 eBook 어노테이션 온톨로지를 구축하였다. eBook 어노테이션 테이터에 대한 상호 공통적인 이해의 표현을 위해서 한국 전자책 문서 표준인 EBKS(Electronic Book of Korea Standard)를 기반으로 구축 하였으며 구축된 온톨로지는 Conceptual Graph(CG)를 사용하여 표현하였다. 의미 기반의 처리를 위해서 본 온톨로지에서는 다국어(Multilingua) 관계를 고려하였으며 또한 오노테이션 데이터 생성 시 중요도를 표현하기 위해서 중요성 axiom을 고려했고, $NF^2$(Non-First Normal Form)에 입각하여 온톨로지를 설계함으로서 어노테이션 데이터의 검색에 활용도를 높였다. 제안된 온톨로지는 어노테이션 데이터의 재사용성을 높일 수 있고 의미 정보를 활용함으로써 eLearning, cyberclass과 같은 다중 사용자 환경에서 효과적인 협업을 가능하게 한다. 본 연구에서는 구현한 eBook annotation 시스템은 구축한 온톨로지를 사용함으로써 의미 기반의 데이터 관리가 가능하다. 또한 어노테이션 생성 시 온톨로지 구조를 모르더라도 어노테이션을 생성할 수 있는 인터페이스를 구현하였다.

발전하는 IT 기술은 사회, 문화, 교육 등 전 산업 분야에 많은 영향을 미치고 있으며, e-book 및 콘텐츠 시장은 여러 산업분야에서 주목받고 있는 중요한 기술개발분야 중에 한 부분이라고 할 수 있다. 하지만 현재까지 e-book의 경우 비 표준화 확장, 단 방향성 비 상호작용, 2차원적인 콘텐츠 사용 등 여러가지 한계적 사용에 문제점을 가지고 있었다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 WebGL 3D 콘텐츠를 이용한 인터렉티브 가상 시뮬레이션 e-book 협업 저작도구를 설계하고 구현하였다. 본 연구에서는 표준화된 HTML5 기술과 IDPF에서 제안된 EPUB3를 통해 기존의 e-book 활용의 한계점들을 극복하고, WebGL 웹 표준 기술을 적용하여 인터렉티브 가상 시뮬레이션 사용이 가능한 전자책 그래픽 요소를 구현 하였다. 향후 본 연구를 통해 표준화된 e-book 콘텐츠 시장의 활성화와 효율적인 교육 도구의 발전을 기대한다.

This paper is to develop metadata format for eBook document standard at Korea. Metadata formats of OEBF, JepaX and AAP were compared and analyzed on the criteria such as purpose, basic elements, characteristics, compatibility, extensibility and convertibility. EBKS metadata format based on Dublin Core was developed in terms of easy to use, resources descriptions and discovery, extensibility and compatibility between other metadata formats such as MARC and Dublin Core. Finally, research and revision direction of the eBook document standard were proposed for the future study.

최근 e-book이나 e-newspaper가 새로운 기록 매체로서 많은 주목을 받고 있으며 기존의 책이나 신문을 대체할 가능성도 게시되고 있다. 이러한 e-book 등은 새로운 휴대 정보통신기기로서도 새로운 시장을 창출할 것으로 기대되고 있다. e-book이나 e-newspaper에 사용되는 디스플레이는 기존의 TFT-LCD, AMOLED와는 다소 다르게 오랜 시간동안 내용을 읽더라도 눈의 피로도를 현저히 줄어야하기 때문에 e-paper라는 새로운 디스플레이가 제시되고 있다. 본 tutorial에서는 e-paper의 개념과 종류, 동작 원리, 응용 분야 등을 살펴보고 새롭게 개발되고 있는 e-paper 기술과 응용 제품들을 소개할 것이다. 또한 e-paper와 기존의 TFT-LCD, AMOLED와 비교 분석하여 e-paper의 한계와 가능성에 대해서도 토의할 것이다.

디지털 콘텐츠의 급속한 보급과 더불어 휴대용 단말기를 이용한 eBook 관련 콘텐츠의 개발이 점증하고 있는 추세에 유통 다변화를 통한 보급 확대를 위해 스마트 TV를 통한 VOD 방송콘텐츠와 연동하여 전자책을 사용자에게 즉시로 제공할 수 있는 시스템이 요구되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 스마트 TV 방송콘텐츠를 기반으로 한 eBook 콘텐츠의 VOD 서비스를 하이브리드형으로 휴대 스마트 기기에 제공하기 위한 효과적인 시스템의 구성과 DRM 전략을 위한 프레임워크를 제시하고 프로토타입 시스템을 제안한다.
