The e-catalog system consists of e-catalog database. e-catalog manager. and a web server, and provides e-catalog web service by displaying e-catalog documents that contain web 3D images. product specifications and manuals. Various web contents such as the 3D images of products, which offer basic viewpoints/movement handles and function simulations, product specifications, product manuals and product features, can be integrated into e-catalog documents in XML format through image manipulation and database connection by using the e-catalog manager tool. By reducing time and cost for publication and management of an e-catalog web service, the competitiveness of companies is expected to be intensified in the perspective of e-business activities.

An e-catalog system provides whole product data and services by publishing newly updated information that connects PDM systems in an enterprise. With its capability to connect customers, suppliers, producers, distributors and downstream manufacturing activities, the e-catalog system can be applied to integrate e-business and provide immense business opportunities. In this paper we propose a framework focusing on constructing an efficient e-catalog system that can be used for online mass customization. The effectiveness of the proposed framework is validated with experimental results.

인터넷의 발전과 전자상거래의 대중화로 인해 시간과 공간의 제약을 받지 않고 상품을 구매하는 고객들이 늘어나고 있다. 이로 인해 상품의 상세한 정보를 고객에게 제공하여 상품에 대한 흥미와 관심을 높일 필요가 있다. 그러나, 현재 대부분의 e-Catalog들은 상품의 정보를 단순한 텍스트나 이미지 중심으로 제공하고 있어서 상품에 대한 상세한 정보를 제공하는 데 한계를 지니고 있고 e-Catalog 저작자 또한 다양한 미디어 데이타를 이용하여 e-Catalog를 저작하기란 쉽지가 않다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해 기존의 e-Catalog에서 주로 사용되던 텍스트 및 이미지 외에 오디오나 동영상과 같은 동적인 멀티미디어 데이타를 폭넓게 활용하는 e-Catalog 저작 도구가 필요하다. 이를 위해 본 논문에서는 XML의 한 응용 분야인 동기화 멀티미디어 통합 언어 SMIL(Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language)을 이용하여 보다 진보된 e-Catalog를 쉽게 저작할 수 있는 e-Catalog 저작 방법 및 사례에 대해 기술한다.

최근 정보화의 추세를 보면 인터넷의 사용이 다양하게 발전하고 있다. 회사간에 정보 인프라를 통해서 거래를 할 수 있는 e-Catalog의 필요성도 급속하게 대두하게 되었으며 e-Catalog는 단순한 상품 전시 수준에서 벗어나 기업활동 전반에 걸친 XML 기반의 B2B e-비즈니스로 확대되어 가고 있다. 한 걸음 더 나아가 e-비즈니스는 앞으로 전 세계의 모든 영역으로 급속히 확산될 것으로 예상된다. 따라서 XML 기반의 B2B e-Catalog가 미치는 전자상거래상의 파급효과를 검토하고, Java를 활용한 XML 기반의 B2B e-Catalog의 관점에서 기존의 Catalog를 재조명해보는 것이 필요하다고 본다. 논문에서는 특히 기업과 공공부문 상품에서의 XML 기반의 e-Catalog 유용성에 대해 논의하려고 한다.

Product catalog information is the most important factor to make customers purchase the product for various B2B or B2C businesses provided on the Internet. As catalog information differs from company by company, it cannot provide common criteria standard to customers to make decisions. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a platform independent system, which integrates incompatible data from each company' catalogs and manages its database. This paper describes the integrated E-catalog system made up DB module, catalog management module, and interface module. This system allows customers to view standardized product catalog information from different companies with real -time updates, and also provides extensibility, flexibility, and interoperability for the effective E-Business management.

e-Catalog is defined as an electronically-described production information on the Web that includes various features of products and enables the customer interaction. Therefore the system is constructed with the database of all the information regarding manufacturing processes, order, cost, delivery. etc. The display of the e-Catalog is preferred to be 3 dimensional animated images in order to impress the customers. This work optimizes the 3D image conversion process from the design data to the e-Catalog data of products and automates the conversion process such that the human intervention can be minimized. The e-Catalog of electronic appliances are discussed as examples.

E-commerce and business information systems are being introduced in most of enterprises with the development of internet recently. Meanwhile the introduction of enterprise portal concepts and the enterprise informatization provide a necessary premise for insuring a competitive power. Therefore, it became necessary to research on the project of reusing the data of e-commerce. In this paper, we make a domestic maker the subject and implement a XML based electronic catalog(e-catalog) system for electronic commerce(e-commerce) based on web. The implemented XML based e-catalog system can reduce time and expenses needed for making, keeping and distribution in paper catalog systems. It also can correct the data reuse problems in the e-catalog systems implemented by HTML. Exchanging and reusing data used in e-commerce is essential to the integration between business information systems and points to the enterprise portal.
