Recently, the information visualization research community has given significant attention to graph visualization, especially visualization of social networks. However, visualization of information flows in a very large social network has not been studied in depth. However, information flows are tightly related to the structure of social networks and it shows dynamic behavior of interactions between members of social networks. Thus, we can get much useful information about social networks from information flows. In this paper, we present our research result that enables users to navigate a very large social network in Google Maps' method and to take a look at information flows on the network. To this end, we devise three techniques; (i) mapping a very large social network to a 2-dimensional graph layout, (ii) exploring the graph to all directions with zooming it in/out, and (iii) building an efficient query processing framework. With these methods, we can visualize very large social networks and information flows in a limited display area with a limited computing resources.

Various visualizing methods have been proposed according to the input and output types. To show complex and large-scale raw data and information. LOD and special region scale method have been used for them. In this paper, I propose level scale interface for dynamic and interactive controlling large scale data such as bio-data. The method has not only advantage of LOD and special region scale but also dynamic and real-time processing. In addition, the method supports elaborate control from large scale to small one for visualization on a region in detail. Proposed method was adopted for genome relationship visualization tool and showed reasonable control method.
For displaying multivariate numerical data on a 2D plane by the projection, principal components biplot and the GGobi are two main tools of data visualization. The biplot is very useful for capturing the global shape of the dataset, by representing $n$ observations and $p$ variables simultaneously on a single graph. The GGobi shows a dynamic movie of the images of $n$ observations projected onto a sequence of unit vectors floating on the $p$-dimensional sphere. Even though these two methods are certainly very valuable, there are drawbacks. The biplot is too condensed to describe the detailed parts of the data, and the GGobi is too burdensome for ordinary data analyses. In this paper, "the local projective display(LPD)" is proposed for visualizing multivariate numerical data. Main steps of the LDP are 1) $k$-means clustering of the data into $k$ subsets, 2) drawing $k$ principal components biplots of individual subsets, and 3) sequencing $k$ plots by Hurley's (2004) endlink algorithm for cognitive continuity.
In order to propose ways to implement mathematical connection between algebra and geometry, this study reinterpreted and visualized the Khayyam's geometric method solving the cubic equations using two conic sections and the Al-Kāshi's method of constructing of angle trisection using a cubic equation. Khayyam's method is an example of a geometric solution to an algebraic problem, while Al-Kāshi's method is an example of an algebraic a solution to a geometric problem. The construction and property of conics were presented deductively by the theorem of "Stoicheia" and the Apollonius' symptoms contained in "Conics". In addition, I consider connections that emerged in the alternating process of algebra and geometry and present meaningful Implications for instruction method on mathematical connection.
AR contents, if markers to be tracked move fast, show flickering while updating images captured from cameras. Conventional methods employing image based markers and SLAM algorithms for tracking objects have the problem that they do not allow more than 2 objects to be tracked simultaneously and interacted with each other in the same camera scene. In this paper, an improved SLAM type algorithm for tracking dynamic objects is proposed and investigated to solve the problem described above. To this end, method using 2 virtual cameras for one physical camera is adopted, which makes the tracked 2 objects interacted with each other. This becomes possible because 2 objects are perceived separately by single physical camera. Mobile robots used as dynamic objects are synchronized with virtual robots in the well-designed contents, proving usefulness of applying the result of individual tracking for multiple moving objects to augmented visualization of objects.

This study investigated the effects of varying visuals in drawing and writing as methods to assist students in connecting and integrating multiple external representations provided in learning the particulate nature of matter. Seventh graders (N=233) at a coed middle school were assigned to control, static drawing (SO), dynamic drawing (DD), static writing (SW), and dynamic writing (DW) groups. The students were taught about "Boyle's Law" and "Charles's Law" for two class periods. Two-way ANCOVA results revealed that the scores of a conception test for the two drawing (SD, DD) groups and the two writing (SW, DW) groups were significantly higher than those for the control group. Within the writing groups, students of lower spatial visualization ability in the DW group scored significantly higher than those in the SW group. However, no significant differences were found in the scores of the conception test for the two drawing (SD, DD) groups regardless of students' visualization ability. Researchers also found that most students in both DD and DW groups had respectively positive perceptions of dynamic visuals in drawing or writing.

The supurfluid shock tube facility has been developed as a versatile tool for experimental research of low-temperature thermo-fluid dynamic phenomena The shock tube is designed to operate with the He II filled test section which is immersed in superfluid helium. The thermo-dynamic phenomena occurred in this facility are measured using pressure transducers, superconductive temperature sensor and visualization method. In this paper, the design and performance of the superfluid shock tube facility and the superconductive temperature sensor is presented.
Vibration isolators and anti-vibration mounts are ideal, for example, in creating floating floors for gymnasiums, or performance spaces. However, it is well-known that there are great difficulties on isolating vibration transmission in structural steel components, especially steel floors. Besides, the selection of inertia blocks, which are usually used by engineers as an effective vibration control measure, is usually based on crude methods or the experience of the engineers. Thus, no simple method or indices have been available for assessing the effect of inertia blocks on vibration isolation or stability of vibratory systems. Thus, the aims of this research are to provide further background description using a FE model and present and implement a modal approach, that was validated experimentally, the latter assisting in providing improved understanding of the vibration transmission phenomenon in steel buildings excited by a velocity-source type of excitation. A better visualization of the mean-square velocity distribution in the frequency domain is presented using the concept of modal expansion. Finally, the variation of the mean-square velocity with frequency, whilst varying mass and/or stiffness of the coupled system, is presented.
In the highly competitive world, there has been a concomitant increase in the need for the research and planning methodology, which can perform an advanced assessment of technological opportunities and an early Perception of threats and possibilities of the emerging technology according to the nation's economic and social status. This research is aiming to provide indicators and visualization methods to measure the latest research trend and aspect underlying scientific and technological documents to researchers and policy planners using 'Co-word Analysis' Organic light emitting diodes(OLED) is an emerging technology in various fields of display and which has a highly prospective market value. In this paper, we presented an analysis on OLED. Co-word analysis was employed to reveal patterns and trends in the OLED fields by measuring the association strength of terms representatives of relevant publications or other texts produced in the OLED field. Data were collected from SCI and the critical keywords could De extracted from the author keywords. These extracted keywords were further standardized. In order to trace the dynamic changes in the OLED field, we presented a variety of technology mapping. The results showed that the OLED field has some established research theme and also rapidly transforms to embrace new themes.
Because MR(Magnetic Resonance) slice images have much information of functions about body organs, it is very effeclive for diagnoses lo analyze and visualize MR slice images. A visuahzation process is composed of medical image acquisition, preprocessmg, segmentation, inlerpolation, rendering. Segmentation and interpolation among thenl ,1re currenl hot topics because of MR slice image imperfections. This paper proposes a method for segmentalion, mlerpolation respectively and addresses 3 D-visualizmg of a head. We segmented head tissues uomg otructural knowledge of head studied by clinical experiments sequentially. We improved the dynamic elastic inlerpolation to Utilize in concave conlour. We compared the proposed segmentation method and the interpolation method with other methods.
