Several isotopomers of cyclooctanone were prepared by selective deuterium substitution. Intrinsic isotope effects on $^{13}C$ NMR chemical shifts of these isotopomers were investigated systematically at low temperature. These istope effects were discussed in relation to the preferred boat-chair conformation of cyclooctanone. Deuterium isotope effects on NMR chemical shifts have been known for a long time. Especially in a conformationally mobile molecule, isotope perturbation could affect NMR signals through a combination of isotope effects on equilibria and intrinsic effects. The distinction between intrinsic and nonintrinsic effects is quite difficult at ambient temperature due to involvement of both equilibrium and intrinsic isotope effects. However if equilibria between possible conformers of cyclooctanone are slowed down enough on the NMR time scale by lowering temperature, it should be possible to measure intrinsic isotope shifts from the separated signals at low temperature. $^{13}C$ NMR has been successfully utilized in the study on molecular conformation in solution when one deals with stable conformers or molecules were rapid interconversion occurs at ambient temperature. The study of dynamic processes in general requires analysis of spectra at several temperature. Anet et al. did $^1H$ NMR study of cyclooctanone at low temperature to freeze out a stable conformation, but were not able initially to deduce which conformation was stable because of the complexity of alkyl region in the $^1H$ NMR spectrum. They also reported the $^1H$ and $^{13}C$ NMR spectra of the $C_9-C_{16}$ cycloalkanones with changing temperature from $-80^{\circ}C$ to $-170^{\circ}C$, but they did not report a variable temperature $^{13}C$ NMR study of cyclooctanone. For the analysis of the intrinsic isotope effect with relation to cylooctanone conformation, $^{13}C$ NMR spectra are obtained in the present work at low temperatures (up to $-150^{\circ}C$) in order to find the chemical shifts at the temperature at which the dynamic process can be "frozen-out" on the NMR time scale and cyclooctanone can be observed as a stable conformation. Both the ring inversion and pseudorotational processes must be "frozen-out" in order to see separate resonances for all eight carbons in cyclooctanone. In contrast to $^1H$ spectra, slowing down just the ring inversion process has no apparent effects on the $^{13}C$ spectra because exchange of environments within the pairs of methylene carbons can still occur by the pseudorotational process. Several isotopomers of cyclooctanone were prepared by selective deuterium substitution (fig. 1) : complete deuterium labeling at C-2 and C-8 positions gave cyclooctanone-2, 2, 8, $8-D_4$ : complete labeling at C-2 and C-7 positions afforded the 2, 2, 7, $7-D_4$ isotopomer : di-deuteration at C-3 gave the 3, $3-D_2$ isotopomer : mono-deuteration provided cyclooctanone-2-D, 4-D and 5-D isotopomers : and partial deuteration on the C-2 and C-8 position, with a chiral and difunctional case catalyst, gave the trans-2, $8-D_2$ isotopomer. These isotopomer were investigated systematically in relation with cyclooctanone conformation and intrinsic isotope effects on $^{13}C$ NMR chemical shifts at low temperature. The determination of the intrinsic effects could help in the analysis of the more complex effects at higher temperature. For quantitative analysis of intrinsic isotope effects, the $^{13}C$ NMR spectrum has been obtained for a mixture of the labeled and unlabeled compounds because the signal separations are very small.
This paper deals with the dynamic stability of nanocomposite pipes conveying pulsating ferrofluid. The pipe is reinforced by carbon nanotubes (CNTs) where the agglomeration of CNTs are considered based on Mori-Tanaka model. Due to the existence of CNTs and ferrofluid flow, the structure and fluid are subjected to axial magnetic field. Based on Navier-Stokes equation and considering the body forced induced by magnetic field, the external force of fluid to the pipe is derived. For mathematical modeling of the pipe, the first order shear deformation theory (FSDT) is used where the energy method and Hamilton's principle are used for obtaining the motion equations. Using harmonic differential quadrature method (HDQM) and Bolotin's method, the motion equations are solved for calculating the excitation frequency and dynamic instability region (DIR) of the structure. The influences of different parameters such as volume fraction and agglomeration of CNTs, magnetic field, structural damping, viscoelastic medium, fluid velocity and boundary conditions are shown on the DIR of the structure. Results show that with considering agglomeration of CNTs, the DIR shifts to the lower excitation frequencies. In addition, the DIR of the structure will be happened at higher excitation frequencies with increasing the magnetic field.
In this work, the dynamic stability of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) reinforced composite pipes conveying pulsating fluid flow is investigated. The pipe is surrounded by viscoelastic medium containing spring, shear and damper coefficients. Due to the existence of CNTs, the pipe is subjected to a 2D magnetic field. The radial induced force by pulsating fluid is obtained by the Navier-Stokes equation. The equivalent characteristics of the nanocomposite structure are calculated using Mori-Tanaka model. Based on first order shear deformation theory (FSDT) or Mindlin theory, energy method and Hamilton's principle, the motion equations are derived. Using harmonic differential quadrature method (HDQM) in conjunction with the Bolotin's method, the dynamic instability region (DIR) of the system is calculated. The effects of different parameters such as volume fraction of CNTs, magnetic field, boundary conditions, fluid velocity and geometrical parameters of pipe are shown on the DIR of the structure. Results show that with increasing volume fraction of CNTs, the DIR shifts to the higher frequency. In addition, the DIR of the structure will be happened at lower excitation frequencies with increasing the fluid velocity.

An adaptive hybrid beamformer is proposed to improve the reception performance of the advanced television system committee (ATSC) digital television (DTV) in a mobile environment. Dynamic multipaths and Doppler shifts severely degrade the reception performance of the ATSC DTV receiver. Accordingly, a hybrid beamformer, called a Capon and least mean square (CLMS) beamformer, is presented that uses direction of arrival (DOA) information and the least mean square (LMS) beamforming algorithm. The proposed CLMS algerian efficiently removes dynamic multipaths and compensates for the phase distortion caused by Doppler shifts in mobile receivers. After the CLMS beamformer is operated, the subsequent use of an equalizer removes any residual multipath effects, thereby significantly improving the performance of DTV receivers. The performances of the proposed CLMS, Capon, and LMS beamformersare compared based on computer simulations. In addition, the overall performance of the CLMS beamformer followed by an equalizer is also considered.

LED-ID (Light Emitting Diode-Identification) network is envisioned to be the next generation indoor wireless communication medium by which simultaneously high speed data transmission, identification, and illumination are possible. In spite of being extremely promising, it suffers from much impairment. Signals having different propagation paths can suffer from delays, and phase shifts which will eventually result interference. The probability of interference is also increased when communication links are established between a tag and several readers. Therefore it is necessary to reduce the interference in LED-ID network to ensure quality of service. It is possible to avoid interference by knowing the information about readers prior to assign the available spectrum. In this paper, we have proposed dynamic spectrum decision using cognitive radio concept. The simulation results justify that the proposed scheme is better than the conventional scheme.
This paper presents a new method which compensates loss of loudness for digital hearing aids. Loudness grows more rapidly in frequency domain with substantial shifts of hearing threshold, so that loud sounds reach the uncomfortable sound level (UCL) at about the same physical stimulus level as with normal hearing. The result is a compression of the available dynamic range of hearing. Many techniques have been developed to compensate for hearing losses. In this paper, we propose a digital hearing aid which uses a single digital filter for reducing distortion and the fuzzy function to calculate gain factors. This function describes how much gain is needed for every frequency to restore loudness perception of a normal ear.
Dental plaque resides passively at a site and makes an active contribution to the maintenance of health. The bacterial composition of plaque remains relatively stable despite regular exposure to minor environmental stress. This stability, homeostasis is due to a dynamic balance of microbial interactions. However, the homeostasis can break down, leading to shifts in the balance of the microflora. This change can be a sign of initial dental caries. It is proposed that disease can be prevented or treated not only by targeting the putative pathogens but also by interfering with the processes that drive the breakdown in homeostasis. It is essential to understand the plaque as a mixed species biofilm. In this essay I reviewed an extension of the caries ecological hypothesis to explain the relation between dynamic changes in the phenotypic/genotypic properties of plaque bacteria and the demineralization and remineralization balance of the dental caries process. We will have the strategies to impact significantly on clinical practice as understanding dental biofilm.
Purpose: To demonstrate the high-resolution numerical simulation of the respiration-induced dynamic $B_0$ shift in the head using generalized susceptibility voxel convolution (gSVC). Materials and Methods: Previous dynamic $B_0$ simulation research has been limited to low-resolution numerical models due to the large computational demands of conventional Fourier-based $B_0$ calculation methods. Here, we show that a recently-proposed gSVC method can simulate dynamic $B_0$ maps from a realistic breathing human body model with high spatiotemporal resolution in a time-efficient manner. For a human body model, we used the Extended Cardiac And Torso (XCAT) phantom originally developed for computed tomography. The spatial resolution (voxel size) was kept isotropic and varied from 1 to 10 mm. We calculated $B_0$ maps in the brain of the model at 10 equally spaced points in a respiration cycle and analyzed the spatial gradients of each of them. The results were compared with experimental measurements in the literature. Results: The simulation predicted a maximum temporal variation of the $B_0$ shift in the brain of about 7 Hz at 7T. The magnitudes of the respiration-induced $B_0$ gradient in the x (right/left), y (anterior/posterior), and z (head/feet) directions determined by volumetric linear fitting, were < 0.01 Hz/cm, 0.18 Hz/cm, and 0.26 Hz/cm, respectively. These compared favorably with previous reports. We found that simulation voxel sizes greater than 5 mm can produce unreliable results. Conclusion: We have presented an efficient simulation framework for respiration-induced $B_0$ variation in the head. The method can be used to predict $B_0$ shifts with high spatiotemporal resolution under different breathing conditions and aid in the design of dynamic $B_0$ compensation strategies.
Challenging Minisatellite Payload (CHAMP) satellite magnetic data are used to investigate the latitudinal variation of the storm-time meso-scale field-aligned currents by defining a new metric called the FAC range. Three major geomagnetic storm events are considered. Alongside SymH, the possible contributions from solar wind dynamic pressure and interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) $B_Z$ are also investigated. The results show that the new metric predicts the latitudinal variation of FACs better than previous studies. As expected, the equatorward expansion and poleward retreat are observed during the storm main phase and recovery phase respectively. The equatorward shift is prominent on the northern duskside, at ${\sim}58^{\circ}$ coinciding with the minimum SymH and dayside at ${\sim}59^{\circ}$ compared to dawnside and nightside respectively. The latitudinal shift of FAC range is better correlated to IMF $B_Z$ in northern hemisphere dusk-dawn magnetic local time (MLT) sectors than in southern hemisphere. The FAC range latitudinal shifts responds better to dynamic pressure in the duskside northern hemisphere and dawnside southern hemisphere than in southern hemisphere dusk sector and northern hemisphere dawn sector respectively. FAC range exhibits a good correlation with dynamic pressure in the dayside (nightside) southern (northern) hemispheres depicting possible electrodynamic similarity at day-night MLT sectors in the opposite hemispheres.

In this paper, a fast stereo matching algorithm based on pixel-wise matching strategy, which can get a stable and accurate disparity map, is proposed. Since a stereo image pair has small differences each other and the differences between left and right images are just caused by horizontal shifts with some order, the matching using a large window will not be needed within a given search range. However, disparity results of conventional pixel-based matching methods are somewhat unstable and wrinkled, the principal direction of disparities is checked by the accumulated cost along a path on array with the dynamic programming method. Experimental results showed that the proposed method could remove almost all disparity noise and set a good quality disparity map in very short time.
