The main purpose of this presented investigation is to build up the BHMS based on GNSS. This proposed monitoring system can conduct the deflection and dynamic characteristics analysis by using only GNSS positioning solution. The general bridge monitoring system being operated recently is composed of a combination of various sensors that are able to conduct deflection monitoring and dynamic characteristics monitoring analysis at the same time. However, GNSS based BHMS has the unique procedure in terms of data analysis. In the other words, GNSS positioning solution is firstly applied to deflection monitoring analysis then, this deflection analysis can be sequentially reflected in the dynamic characteristics. Unfortunately, the adjustment result of GNSS positioning solution estimated through various options and conditions and the process of monitoring analysis has not been fulfilled systematically. This means that different results or analysis value are presented according to the methodology and officers. Most of researches have been focusing on deflection monitoring analysis and some investigation regarding to dynamic characteristics is recently introduced. Moreover, it is not still reported the systematic investigation with regards to proper filtering and analysis methodology. This study was carried out based on a large amount of data, from this, various variables not reported yet are actively considered. Therefore, specific software for both monitoring analysis have been developed.

In-situ penetration tests using dynamic penetrometers are widely used for estimating soil resistance. Additionally, these dynamic penetrometers have been instrumented to improve tests accuracy. This paper introduces smart instrumented dynamic penetrometers and discusses experimental studies for various cases. An energy monitoring module was developed to enhance the dynamic penetration tests. The standard penetration test (SPT) and instrumented dynamic cone penetrometer (IDCP) tests were conducted using the energy monitoring module. Dynamic responses obtained by the energy monitoring module were used to calculate the transferred energies into the rod head and tip to correct the evaluation of ground strength. In addition, a crosshole-type dynamic penetrometer (CDP) was developed to measure the penetration index and shear wave velocity simultaneously to estimate the strength and stiffness of ground. The results of this study indicate that smart instrumented dynamic penetrometers may be effectively used to characterize the strength and stiffness of ground.
Structural health monitoring is becoming more and more important in the domain of civil engineering as a proper mean to increase and maintain the safety, especially in the land of earthquakes like Japan. In many civil structures, the deformations are the most relevant parameter to be monitored. In this context, a monitoring technology based on the use of long-gage fiber optic deformation sensor, SOFO is being applied to a 33-floors tall building in Tokyo. Sensors were installed on the $2^{nd}$ floor's steel columns of the building on May 2005 in the early stage of the construction. The installed SOFO sensors were dynamic compatible ones which enable both static and dynamic measurements. The monitoring is to be performed during the whole lifespan of the building. During the construction, static deformations of the columns had been measured on a regular basis using a reading unit for static measurement and dynamic deformation measurements were occasionally conducted using a reading unit for dynamic measurement. The building was completed on August 2006. After the completion, static and dynamic deformation measurements have been continuing. This paper describes a health monitoring technology, SOFO system which is applicable to high-rise buildings and monitoring results of a 33-floors tall building in Tokyo from May 2005 to October 2010.
In this work, extensions to partial least squares (PLS) for wastewater treatment (WWT) process monitoring are discussed. Conventional data gathered by monitoring WWT systems are usually time varying, high dimensional, correlated and nonlinear, PLS has been shown to be an efficient approach in modeling and monitoring high dimensional and correlated data. To represent dynamic and nonlinear features of the data several kinds of dynamic nonlinear PLS (DNLPLS) models have been proposed. However, the complexity and ambiguity of the models make them unsuitable for WWT monitoring, Recently, dynamic fuzzy PLS (DFPLS) was proposed ...
In this paper, wireless monitoring of typhoon-induced variation of dynamic characteristics of a cable-stayed bridge is presented. Firstly, cable-stayed bridge with the wireless monitoring system is described. Wireless vibration sensor nodes are utilized to measure accelerations from bridge deck and stay cables. Also, modal analysis methods are selected to extract dynamic characteristics. Secondly, dynamic responses of the cable-stayed bridge under the attack of two typhoons are analyzed by estimating relationships between wind velocity and dynamic characteristics. Wind-induced variations of deck and cable vibration responses are examined based on the field measurements under the two consecutive typhoons, Bolaven and Tembin. Finally, time-varying analyses are performed to investigate non-stationary random properties of the dynamic responses under the typhoons.

Grid technology requires use of geographically distributed resources from multiple domains. Resource monitoring services or tools consisting sensors or agents will run on many systems to find static resource information (such as architecture vendor, OS name and version, MIPS rate, memory size, CPU capacity, disk size, and NIC information) and dynamic resource information (CPU usage, network usage(bandwidth, latency), memory usage, etc.). Thus monitoring itself may cause system overhead. This paper proposes the optimal monitoring interval to reduce the cost of monitoring services and the dynamic monitoring interval to measure monitoring events accurately. By employing two features, we find out unnecessary system overhead is significantly reduced and accuracy of events is still acquired.
The engineering background of this article is an ancient wooden building with extremely high historic and cultural values in Tibet. A full understanding of the dynamic behaviour of this historic building under in-service environments is the basis to assess the condition of the structure, especially its responses to earthquake, environmental and operational loading. A dynamic monitoring system has been installed in the building for over one year and the large amounts of high quality data have been obtained. The paper aims at studying the dynamic behaviour of the wooden building in seismic and operational conditions using the field monitoring data. Specifically the effects of earthquake and crowd loading on the structure's dynamic response are investigated. The monitoring data are decomposed into principal components using the Singular Spectrum Analysis (SSA) technique. The relationship between the average acceleration amplitude and frequencies of the principle components and operational conditions has been discussed. One main contribution is to understand the health condition of complex ancient building based on large databases collected on the field.

In this paper, we introduce three monitoring filtering techniques which reduce the overheads of dynamic data race detection. It is well known that detecting data races dynamically in multi-threaded programs is quite hard and troublesome task, because the dynamic detection techniques need to monitor all execution of a multi-threaded program and to analyse every conflicting memory and thread operations in the program. Thus, the main drawback of the dynamic analysis for detecting data races is the heavy additional time and space overheads for running the program. For the practicality, we also empirically compare the efficiency of three monitoring filtering techniques. The results using OpenMP benchmarks show that the filtering techniques are practical for dynamic data race detection, since they reduce the average runtime overhead to under 10% of that of the pure detection.
In this study, local dynamic characteristics of mountable PZT interfaces are numerically analyzed to verify their feasibility on impedance monitoring of the prestress-loss in tendon anchorage subsystems. Firstly, a prestressed tendon-anchorage system with mountable PZT interfaces is described. Two types of mountable interfaces which are different in geometric and boundary conditions are designed for impedance monitoring in the tendon-anchorage subsystems. Secondly, laboratory experiments are performed to evaluate the impedance monitoring via the two mountable PZT interfaces placed on the tendon-anchorage under the variation of prestress forces. Impedance features such as frequency-shifts and root-mean-square-deviations are quantified for the two PZT interfaces. Finally, local dynamic characteristics of the two PZT interfaces are numerically analyzed to verify their performances on impedance monitoring at the tendon-anchorage system. For the two PZT interfaces, the relationships between structural parameters and local vibration responses are examined by modal sensitivity analyses.
