A Study on Helicopter Trajectory Tracking Control using Neural Networks (신경회로망을 이용한 헬리콥터 궤적추종제어 연구)

  • In the paper, the design and evaluation of a helicopter trajectory tracking controller are presented. The control algorithm is implemented using the feedback linearization technique and the two time-scale separation architecture. In addition, and on-line adaptive architecture that employs a neural network compensating the model inversion error caused by the deficiency of full knowledge of helicopter dynamic is applied to augment the attitude control system. Trajectory tracking performance of the control system in evaluated using modified TMAN simulation program representing as Apache helicopter. It is show that the on-line neural network in an adaptive control architecture is very effective in dealing with the performance depreciation problem of the trajectory tracking control caused by insufficient information of dynamics.

  • When control surface failure occurs, it is conventional to correct a current control or to transform to other control. In this paper, instead of adopting a conventional way, a reconfiguration method which compensate the failure with alternative control surface deflection, depending on the level of failure, by using neural network and PCH(Pseudo-Control Hedging). The Conroller is designed of inner-loop(SCAS : Stability Command Augmentation System) with DMI(Dynamic Model Inversion) and outer-loop with Y axis acceleration feedback for a coordinate turn. Additionally, double PCH method was adopted to prevent actuator saturation and input command was generated to compensate for failure. At the end, The feasibility of the method is validated with randomly selected failure scenarios.

  • A new analytical method to determine the theoretical dispersion curves of Rayleigh wave in multilayered elastic media is developed. The method developed in this study gives the solutions for unlimited frequency, and is essential part of surface wave techniques to evaluate the layer profiles and dynamic properties of soils and pavement systems. Delta-Matrix technique is utilized to overcome the overflow and loss of precision problem inherent in the original Thomson-Haskell formulation at high frequencies. Conventional inversion methods based on the original Thomson-Haskell formulation lead to erroneous results due to the limitations on the layer profiles and the magnitude of frequency. The method developed in this study establishes the base of the research on more accurate and efficient inversion method, especially for the pavement systems as well as the natural soils.

Elastodynamic Response of a Crack Perpendicular to the Graded Interfacial Zone in Bonded Dissimilar Materials Under Antiplane Shear Impact

  • A solution is given for the elastodynamic problem of a crack perpendicular to the graded interfacial zone in bonded materials under the action of anti plane shear impact. The interfacial zone is modeled as a nonhomogeneous interlayer with the power-law variations of its shear modulus and mass density between the two dissimilar, homogeneous half-planes. Laplace and Fourier integral transforms are employed to reduce the transient problem to the solution of a Cauchy-type singular integral equation in the Laplace transform domain. Via the numerical inversion of the Laplace transforms, the values of the dynamic stress intensity factors are obtained as a function of time. As a result, the influences of material and geometric parameters of the bonded media on the overshoot characteristics of the dynamic stress intensities are discussed. A comparison is also made with the corresponding elastostatic solutions, addressing the inertia effect on the dynamic load transfer to the crack tips for various combinations of the physical properties.

  • The ionospheric strom evolution process was monitored during the 18 August 2003 magnetic strom over China, through inversion of the ionospheric electron density from GPS observations. The temporal and spatial variations of the ionosphere were analysed as a time series of ionospheric electron density profiles. Results show that the main ionospheric effects of the storm over China under consideration are: the positive storm phase effect usually happens in the low latitudinal ionospheric; the negative storm phase effect occurs in the middle latitude, and the equatorial anomaly structure can be found as well.

  • This paper deals with a design of nonlinear glide slope capture logic using dynamic model inversion in singular perturbation, which is applicable to the autolanding in ILS. Aircraft dynamics are separated into the fast time-scale variables, related with the inner-loop design, and the slow time-scale variables, related with the outer-loop design. It is assumed that the aircraft starts landing at 1000ft of altitude, -2.5deg of flight path angle, and 250ft/sec of velocity. In the outer-loop design, commands of altitude and velocity are selected and thereby the pseudo-controls of power level and pitch rate are determined. Also the elevator input to the aircraft is determined in the inner-loop design.   • In this paper, we introduce a new genetic reordering operator based on the concept of schema to solve optimization problems such as the Traveling Salesman Problem(TSP) and maximizing or minimizing functions. In particular, because TSP is a well-known combinational optimization problem andbelongs to a NP-complete problem, there is huge solution space to be searched. For robustness to local minima, the operator separates selected strings into two parts to reduce the destructive probability of good building blocks. And it applies inversion to the schema part to prevent the premature convergence. At the same time, it searches new spaces of solutions. Additionally, the non-schema part is applied to inversion for robustness to local minima. By doing so, we can preserve diversity of the distributions in population and make GA be adaptive to the dynamic environment.

An Improvement of the Schedulability Condition in Dynamic Priority Ceiling Protocol (동적 우선순위 상한 프로토콜의 스케줄링 가능성 조건 개선)

  • When tasks access shared resources in real-time systems, the unbounded priority inversion may occur. In such cases it is impossible to guarantee the schedulability of real-time tasks. Several resource access protocols have been proposed to bound the duration of priority inversion and sufficient conditions are given to guarantee the schedulability of periodic task set. In this paper, we show an improved sufficient condition for schedulability when the dynamic priority ceiling protocol is used. Our approach exploits the fact that a lower priority task can continue to execute as far as the higher priority tasks do not miss their deadlines. This permitting execution time of the higher priority tasks for a lower priority task can be excluded from the worst-case blocking time of the higher priority tasks. Since the worst-case blocking time of tasks can be reduced, the sufficient condition for schedulability of dynamic priority ceiling protocol becomes further tight.

  • In this paper, We present a new nonlinear adaptive control law using a disturbance accommodating control (DAC) observer for a Japanese automatic landing flight experiment vehicle called ALFLEX. A future spaceplane must have ability to deal with greater fluctuations in the stability and control derivatives of flight dynamics, because its flight region is much wider than that of conventional aircraft. In our previous studies, digital adaptive flight control systems have been developed based on a linear-parameter-varying (LPV) model depending on dynamic pressure, and obtained good simulation results. However, under previous control laws, it is difficult to accommodate uncertainties represented by disturbance and nonlinearity, and to design a stable flight control system. Therefore, in this study, we attempted to design a nonlinear adaptive control law using the DAC Observer and inverse dynamic methods. A good tracking property of the obtained system was confirmed in numerical simulation.
