  • The most electrical apparatus should be able to withstand short-time current and peak current during a specified short time until circuit breakers have interrupted fault current. It defines the short-time withstand ability of electric a apparatus to be remain for a time interval under high fault current conditions. It is specified by both dynamic ability and thermal capability. KERI(Korea Electrotechlology Research Institute) recently constructed the new short-time current and low voltage short circuit testing facilities. This paper shows short- circuit calculation of transformer and describes high current measuring system, and evaluate the result of short-time withstand test used in $3{\phi}$ 90MVA short-time current testing facilities.

  • Reheating furnace is an essential facility of a rod mill plant where a billet is heated to the required rolling temperature so that it can be milled to produce wire. Although it is very important to obtain information on billet temperatures, it is not feasible during furnace operation. Consequently, a billet temperature profile should be estimated. Moreover, this estimation should be done within an appropriate time interval for an on-line application. In this paper, a billet heat transfer model based on 2D FEM(Finite Element Method) with spatially distributed emission factors is proposed for an on-line billet temperature estimation and also a measurement is carried out for two extremely different furnace operation patterns. Finally, the difference between the model outputs and the measurements is minimized by using a new optimization algorithm named uDEAS(Univariate Dynamic Encoding Algorithm for Searches) with multi-step tuning strategy. The obtained emission factors are applied to a simulation for the data which are not used in the model tuning for validation.

  • In this paper, a three phase boost converter that operates with unity power factor and sinusodial input currents is presented. The current control of the converter is based on the space vector strategy with fixed switching frequency and the input current tracks the reference current within one sampling time interval. Space vector strategy for current control was materialized as a digital control method by using DSP. By using this control strategy low ripples in the output voltage, low harmonics in the input current and fast dynamic responses are achieved with a small capacitance in the dc link.

  • Recently, the three phase AC to DC boost converter has become one of the most widely used power converters as DC power source in the industry applications. In this paepr, a three phase PWM AC toDC boost converter that operates with unity power factor and sinusodial input currents is presented. The current control of the converter is based onthe predicted current control strategy with fixed switching frequency and the input current tracks the reference cuent within one sampling time interval. Therefore, by using this control strategy low ripples in the output voltage, low harmonics in the input current and fast dynamic responses are achieved with a small capacitance in the DC link.

  • The numerical methodology for simulating water entry behaviors of the high-speed bodies has been developed. Since the present method assumed the impact occurs within a very short time interval, the viscous effects do not have enough time to play a significant role in the impact forces, that is, the flow around a water-entry object was assumed as an incompressible potential flow and is solved by the source panel method. The elements fully submerged into the water are routinely teated, but the elements intersected by the effective planar free surface are redefined and reorganized to be amenable to the source panel method. To validate the present code, it has been applied to the ogive model and compared with experimental data. Good agreement has been obtained. The water entry behavior of the bouncing phenomena from the free surface has been also simulated using the impact forces and two degree of freedom dynamic equation. Physically, acceptable results have been obtained.

  • This paper describes a three-dimensional dynamic finite element analysis of two/multiple shots impacting on a metallic component. The model is validated against a published numerical study. An extensive parametric study is conducted to investigate the effect of shot impacting with overlap on the resulting residual stress profile within the component, including time interval between shot impacts, separation distance between the impacting points, and impacting velocity of successive shots. Several meaningful conclusions can be drawn regarding the effect of shot impacting with overlap.

  • In this paper, a systolic array for polyadic-nonserial DP problems is designed, the performance is analyzed and the efficient operating method is proposed. The algorithm is transformed to remove the broadcasting and global communication paths in the data dependence step by step. The transformed algorithm is mapping to the systolic array using the method proposed by D. I. Moldovan. The designed array is homogenous, had the processing elements of (n+1)/2 and 2n computation time ( n is the size of problem). In case of being many problems to process, the efficiency of array can be upward by inputing the problems successively. The interval between the initiations of two successive proboem instances is [n/2]+1 and the speed-up is about 4. The processor utilizations of each case are calculated.

  • The large-eddy simulation(LES) was carried out to evaluate the drag and static pressure acting on the blade surface of a small-size axial fan(SSAF) under the condition of unsteady-state, incompressible fluid and three-dimensional coordination. The axial component of drag coefficient increases with the increase of operating load, but the radial components have negligible sizes regardless of operating loads. Otherwise, the static pressures acting on the blade surfaces of SSAF show different distributions around the operating point of D equivalent to the stall. Also, with the increase of operating load, the static pressures acting on the pressure and suction surfaces of blade concentrate at the tips and leading-edges as a whole.

  • The standard logistic map is an iterative function, which forms a discrete-time dynamic system. The chaotic logistic map is a kind of ergodic map defined over the unit interval. In this paper we study the limiting behaviors on the several processes induced by the chaotic logistic map. We derive the law of large numbers for the process induced by the chaotic logistic map. We also derive the uniform law of large numbers for this process. When deriving the uniform law of large numbers, we study the role of bracketing of the indexed class of functions associated with the process. Then we apply the idea of DeHardt (1971) associated with the bracketing method to the process induced by the logistic map. We finally illustrate an application to Monte Carlo integration.

  • Nine different types of the reinforced railroad roadbeds which . are located in between Suwon-Chunan station of Kyongbu line were constructed in order to increase the bearing capacity of railroad roadbed and to improve the ridability as a part of speed-up project of conventional railroad systems. Each three sections were composed of weathered granite soil, crushed stone and furnace slag(HMS25), and fully instrumented with earth pressure cells, settlement plates and geophones to monitor the behavior of roadbeds under actual train loads. Field measurement has continued since October 31, 2000 and presently with rather longer measurement interval. The measurement data such as settlement, earth pressure and vibration levels are currently under analysis process. In this paper, only cumulative measurement data of railroad roadbeds were introduced. In the near future, comprehensive measurement data and result of analysis will be presented and design technique for the reinforced railroad roadbed will be proposed as a final product of this study.
