A Study on Fuzzy Control Algorithm for Prediction of Server service rate in ATM networks (ATM망에서 서버의 서비스율 예측을 위한 퍼지 제어 알고리즘에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we proposed the fuzzy control algorithm for efficient buffer control about traffic that is connected in ATM networks. The proposed Fuzzy control algorithm has total traffic arrival ratio, buffer occupancy ratio and Fuzzy set to search for dynamic service rates in server. That is, is based on Fuzzy logic according to the arrival ratio of total traffic and buffer occupancy ratio that is happened and reasoning. Then, made reasoning result control service rates in server about traffic that is connected with defuzzification value. Performance analysis result: it was confirmed that with the proposed scheme, performance improves at cell loss rate, when compared with the existing PBS scheme.

  • This paper describes a control algorithm for the buffer of a deep-sea mining system, in which the buffer is connected to a long slender pipe and then to a surface ship on one end, and to a collector on sea floor through a flexible hose on the other end. A mathematical modeling is established for designing the controller for buffer thrusters, in which the dynamic response of the long pipe is taken into account based on the mode superposition method. The fluid loading acting on the pipe is estimated by using Morison's formula. For simplicity, the surface ship is assumed to be kept stationary, the reaction from the flexible hose is ignored and only the lateral motions are considered. In order to guide the buffer to react only to the low-frequency motion of the surface vessel, the FIR digital filter is introduced to a PID-based controller It can be shown numerically that the high frequency component of the ship's motion can be effectively filtered out by using the FIR low pass filter.

Low Power TLB System by Using Continuous Accessing Distinction Algorithm (연속적 접근 판별 알고리즘을 이용한 저전력 TLB 구조)

  • In this paper we present a translation lookaside buffer (TLB) system with low power consumption for imbedded processors. The proposed TLB is constructed as multiple banks, each with an associated block buffer and a corresponding comparator. Either the block buffer or the main bank is selectively accessed on the basis of two bits in the block buffer (tag buffer). Dynamic power savings are achieved by reducing the number of entries accessed in parallel, as a result of using the tag buffer as a filtering mechanism. The performance overhead of the proposed TLB is negligible compared with other hierarchical TLB structures. For example, the two-cycle overhead of the proposed TLB is only about 1%, as compared with 5% overhead for a filter (micro)-TLB and 14% overhead for a same structure without continuos accessing distinction algorithm. We show that the average hit ratios of the block buffers and the main banks of the proposed TLB are 95% and 5% respectively. Dynamic power is reduced by about 95% with respect to with a fully associative TLB, 90% with respect to a filter-TLB, and 40% relative to a same structure without continuos accessing distinction algorithm.

A QoS Management Scheme on Dynamic SLA in B3G Networks (B3G 네트워크에서 동적 SLA 기반 QoS 방안)

  • Service Level Agreement (SLA) is a service providing scheme by a service class agreement between a user and a service provider SLA allows that a user can select an expected service class in various service classes provided from a service provider. Recently, SLA management is adapted to support the end-to-end Qos for service users in Beyond 3 Generation (B3G) networks. In B3G networks, SLA provides multiple service classes on access networks so that service classes should be managed to assure the service satisfaction for users. In this paper, we propose a dynamic Qos management scheme by IP traffic class controlling based on SLA in B3G networks. Also, to manage dynamic traffic service, we consider Differentiated services (Diffserv) mechanism for the resource management by SLA. An If service traffic class on SLA can be dynamically changed by Diffserv traffic management to support dynamic end-to-end Qos. Hence, in this paper, we consider the buffer threshold scheme for controlling traffic loads and the traffic level control scheme for implementing the dynamic traffic management by the SLA.

  • This paper concerns about total dynamic analysis of integrated mining system. This system consists of vertical steel pipe, intermediate buffer station, flexible pipe and self-propelled miner. The self-propelled miner and buffer are assumed as rigid-body of 6-dof. Discrete models of vertical steel pipe and flexible pipe are adopted, which are obtained by means of lumped-parameter method. The motion of mining vessel is not considered. Instead, the motion of mining vessel is taken into account in form of various boundary conditions (e.g. forced excitation in slow motion and/or fast oscillation and so on). A terramechanics model of extremely cohesive soft soil is applied to the self-propelled miner. Hinged and ball constraints are used to define the connections between sub-systems (vertical steel pipe, buffer, flexible pipe, self-propelled miner). Equations of motion of the coupled model are derived with respect to the each local coordinates system. Four Euler parameters are used to express the orientations of the sub-systems. To solve the equations of motion of the total dynamic model, an incremental-iterative formulation is employed. Newmark-${\beta}$ method is used for time-domain integration. The total dynamic responses of integrated mining system are investigated.

An Improved Dynamic Branch Predictor by Selective Access of a Specific Element in 4-Way Cache (4-Way 캐쉬의 선택된 Element를 이용한 향상된 동적 분기 예측기 구현)

  • This paper proposes an improved branch predictor that reduces the number execution cycles of applications by selectively accessing a specific element in 4-way associative cache. When a branch instruction is fetched, the proposed branch predictor acquires a branch target address from the selected element in the cache by referring to MRU buffer. Branch prediction rate and application execution speed are considerably improved by increasing the number of BTAC entries in restricted power condition, when compared with that of previous branch predictor which accesses all elements. The effectiveness of the proposed dynamic branch predictor is verified by executing benchmark applications on the core simulator. Experimental results show that number of execution cycles decreases by an average of 10.1%, while power consumption increases an average of 7.4%, when compared to that of a core without a dynamic branch predictor. Execution cycles are reduced by 4.1% in comparison with a core which employs previous dynamic branch predictor.

A Video Quality Control Scheme Based on Content Characteristics for Improving QoE in DASH Environments (DASH 환경에서 QoE 향상을 위한 콘텐츠 특성 기반의 비디오 품질 조절 기법)

  • Recently, the web-based adaptive streaming service, DASH (Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP), is receiving more attention. However, existing network-based and buffer-based video quality control schemes in DASH environments make oscillation of segment throughput, causing degradation of the quality of experience (QoE) with frequent quality changes and playback interruptions because these schemes do not consider the content characteristics. In this paper, we propose a C-DASH (Content Characteristics based Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP) scheme in order to improve the QoE in DASH environments. The C-DASH scheme performs seamless and smooth quality control based on the segment throughput, buffer status, and segment size of the content. Based on simulation results, it is confirmed that the C-DASH scheme can improve the QoE, when compared with the existing quality control schemes.

  • A common network such as internet does not provide a guaranteed network bandwidth to accommodate multimedia service in a reliable fashion. In this paper, we propose a new rate control mechanism for multimedia service on the internet which is adaptive to the dynamic QoS in real-time. Also we adapt an QoS monitoring module and real-time transmission control module to adapt dynamic network bandwidth. To do this, we used layer attribution of media data and also considered loss rate and buffer threshold in receiver side for measurement of dynamic QoS.
