Comparative study on the cable stayed bridge under moving load state (이동하중을 받는 사장교의 거동비교)

  • Cable-stayed bridges are bridges with long spans for special purposes. Due to the long span, the dynamic response of the vehicle to the moving load is very special. The behavior also has nonlinear, which makes it difficult to design. In this study, the responses of cable - stayed bridges are considered considering various vehicle loads and the behavior of long - span bridges under moving loads is investigated. Especially, when the loads for one direction and for both directions move with speed, the behavior of the bridges is found to be due to the flexibility of the cable. It can be seen that the analysis including the dynamic behavior of the cable and the top plate is more effective because the influence of the vehicle load tends to amplify the vertical deformation together with the vibration of the cable.

  • Steel railway bridge gets vibration from moving load ; additionally, this kind of moving load is going to be a sufficient reason, which causes fatigue damage to steel railway bridge. Fatigue damage and stress curve were raised by moving load depends on span length in steel railway bridge. In other words, stress curve appears index regarding every axial load in short span, but self weight lets stress curve's change decrease in proportion to increasing span length. Thereby, we have studied that how the steel railway bridge appear fatigue damage in proportion to span length of steel railway bridge. Dynamic strain was measured in 4 steel plate-girder railway bridge during the trains was passing, which is located on the line of Kyoung-chun railway. And time history response analysis has been done in order to ensure actual survey. The results of this study show the decreased of the fatigue damage in steel railway bridge according to length of span. This paper ends is bases research of fatigue design in steel railway bridges according to span length.

  • Taking the mid-span/center-point of the structure as the reference point of capturing the maximum dynamic response is very customary in the available literature of the moving load problems. In this article, the absolute maximum dynamic response of an Euler-Bernoulli beam subjected to a moving mass is widely investigated for various boundary conditions of the base beam. The response of the beam is obtained by utilizing a robust numerical method so-called OPSEM (Orthonormal Polynomial Series Expansion Method). It is underlined that the absolute maximum dynamic response of the beam does not necessarily take place at the mid-span of the beam and thus the conventional analysis needs modifications. Therefore, a comprehensive parametric survey of the base beam absolute maximum dynamic response is represented in which the contribution of the velocity and weight of the moving inertial objects are scrutinized and compared to the conventional version (maximum at mid-span).

  • In this paper we evaluated dynamic stability, considering the effects of modeling and analysis methods on moving load analysis, for which a sophisticated 3 dimensional model of a PSC-I type girder bridge was used. For this purpose, we suggested a reasonable modeling method and the physical properties of the concrete and ballasted track system involved. We also analyzed the response characteristics according to: 1) the type of track system; 2) whether or not the track was modeled; 3) whether or not the distance between the girder center and the bearing were considered; 4) the analysis method (i.e., direct integral and modal analysis); 5) whether or not the frequency was filtered.

  • A study on the effects of a high-speed railway bridge vibration induced by moving train on the nearby bridge is performed. Longitudinal and lateral accelerations of slabs and piers which are calculated from moving load analysis of a high-speed railway bridge can be used as input ground motions for the adjacent bridge. Dynamic responses of the adjacent bridge considering soil-structure interaction effects are analyzed by sub-structure method. Analysis procedure is made of free field analysis, calculation of impedance and effective input load and soil-structure system analysis.

  • Escalators are widely used for mass transportation in public places. In recent years, strict requirements on the comfort and reliability for the public transportation have drawn a great attention to vibration in escalators. This paper presents a dynamic model for escalators to be used for the analysis and design of low vibration escalators. The dynamic model is developed so as to reflect the physical observation on peculiar characteristics in escalators such as the difference between up-moving and down-moving, and the abnormal vibration affected by the load applied. For validation of the dynamic model developed, experimental results are compared with numerical results from the model. The numerical study shows that the developed model may be useful for the analysis and design of escalator systems.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of moving mass on the vibration characteristics and the dynamic response of the simply supported beam. The three types of the moving mass(moving load, unsprung mass, and sprung mass) are applied to the vehicle-bridge interaction analysis. The numerical analyses are then conducted to evaluate the effect of the mass, spring and damper properties of the moving mass on natural frequencies and dynamic responses of the simply supported beam. Particularly, in the case of the sprung mass, variations of the natural frequency of simply supported beam are explored depending on the position of the moving mass and the frequency ratio of the moving mass and the beam. Finally the parametric studies on the resonance phenomena are performed with changing mass, spring and damper parameters through the dynamic interaction analyses.

  • The design concept of high speed railway bridges is applied to a method for increasing the stiffness of existing bridge structures considering the impact factor by a static load. Generally, the process of structural design would be relied upon an advanced foreign technology. However, the dynamic amplification factor (DAF) and dynamic capacity assessment of high speed railway bridges may be conducted essentially a detailed estimation because the resonance phenomenon is affected by the long length (380 m) and high speed (300 km/h) moving of a high speed railway (Korea Train eXpress: KTX). Therefore, this study will be examined the dynamic capacity of the typical PSC Box Girder high speed railway bridge efficiently, and offered the basic information for the reasonable structural design. For this, the static analysis is conducted considering the load line diagram of KTX based upon existing references. In addition, the KTX moving load is transformed into the time series load considering various analytical variables. The time history analysis is assessed reasonable using the transformed time series load. At that time, analytical variables for calculating the time series load are considered loading node distance, time increment and KTX velocity variation etc. The dynamic capacity of the PSC Box Girder high speed railway bridge is examined based upon the FE analysis result systematically. The structural safety is assessed quantitatively in accordance with the related regulation of the inside and outside of the country.
