In this research, multiple corrosion factors of buried environments were measured in order to establish a formula for the corrosion character of corrugated steel structures in domestic environments. By substituting corrosion factors for each predicting formula, the durable lifetime was measured, and the measured lifetime was compared with the estimated lifetime by applying existing thickness-measuring techniques. A new usage standard was proposed with these results, in order to create the conclusion below. There are known differences in the soil factors used as variables in estimating the duration caused by the seasonal effects of rainfall and temperature. Comparing the durable lifetime estimated by each predicting formula, the findings show that the California technique is conservative. This study demonstrates that the error range of the AISI technique, which is mostly used as a duration technique, is a very narrow predicting technique as compared with many other countries. Considering that there is on average, a 13% error margin in this study, a proposed safety factor of 0.87 could be used to more accurately predict the duration. The laying time in the California technique is not longer than the whole durability, and as a result, this error margin exists. It is concluded that this study on the open area has been overdue. Based on these findings, it's proposed that this error margin should be applied to the domestic environment through periodic observation, in order to establish the predicting techniques of durable lifetime.
Under a corrosive environment, electrodes that are applied in the water-treatment system need not only very high electrochemical activity for fast reactions, but also high durability for cost saving. Therefore, the fabrication condition of iridium electrodes was examined to produce a more durable iridium electrode in this study. Tantalum was selected as a binder to enhance the durability of the iridium electrode. Investigation of the weight ratio between the catalyst and the binder to improve electrochemical activity was performed. Also, to compare the effect of the different coating amounts of the catalyst, the results of CV (Cyclic Voltammetry) and EIS (Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy) were discussed. Furthermore, an ALT(Accelerated Lifetime Test) was designed and applied to the electrodes to determine the conditions for highly durable electrode fabrication.
Sole reconstruction should consider both functional and aesthetic aspects; durable weight bearing surface, adequate contour for normal footwear, protective sensation and solid anchoring to deep tissue to resist shearing. The anterolateral thigh perforator free flap has such favorable characteristics as long pedicle, reliable perforators and minimal donor site morbidity. This flap can be safely thinned to 3-4 mm. It can also be elevated with sufficient bulk with muscles like vastus lateralis for complex defect. Between June 2002 and December 2004, 48 cases of sole reconstruction were performed with anterolateral thigh perforator free flaps. Follow up period ranged from 4 to 34 months with a mean of 14.7 months and with exception of one case, all flaps survived. One case of total flap loss was noted due to infection in a patient who was administered lifetime immunosuppressant. Partial necroses developed in three cases but were treated conservatively. Satisfactory aesthetic and functional results were achieved and acceptable gait recovery was noted. Seventy-eight percent of the patients regained protective sensation by 6 months and earlier sensory recovery was noted in sensate flap group. The authors also present a standardized protocol for preoperative patient evaluation and postoperative management and rehabilitation.

The durable lifetime of RC structures is shortened by various reasons, which are the generation of cracks in construction and service term, the exterior deterioration according to climatic condition, the surface damage due to chloride attack and the corrosion of reinforced bars. The durability of concrete structures is nevertheless able to be increased by the method and the material of reinforcement and repair. The epoxy resin is widely used for reinforment and repair of concrete because of the superiority in mechanical property, adhesive property, abrasion resistance, impact resistance and chemical resistance. The epoxy cement mortar with hardening agent has a lot of disadvantages that are troublesome mixing work, weakened weatherability and high cost for hardening agent. In this study, the mix proportion of mortar is presented just only with epoxy resin and some admixtures, and the test result of mortar without hardening agent shows the higher strength than the mortar with hardening agent. In the mix proportion, the weight of epoxy resin must be less than 15% of the unit weight of cement, and 10% of unit weight of cement is adequate for the weight of admixtures.
Every concrete structure should continue to perform its intended functions such as to maintain the required strength and durability during its lifetime. Deterioration of the concrete structure, however, occurs more progressively from the outside of the concrete exposed to severe conditions. Main deteriorations in concrete structures result from carbonation, chloride ion attack and frost attack. Concrete can therefore be more durable by applying surface protection to increase its durability using impregnants, which are normally classified into two large groups in polymeric and silicate materials. Concrete impregnants are composed of silanes and alkali silicates (sodium, potassium and lithium silicate). Thus, this study is concerned with elevating the carbonation and Cl- penetration resistance of concrete structures by applying alkali silicate hydrophilic impregnants including lithium and potassium silicates. From the experimental test results, lithium and potassium silicates produced a good improvement in carbonation resistance and are expected to be used as hydrophilic impregnants of concrete structures.

LED is standing in the limelight as a light part of the low-carbon green energy. While LEDs are eco-friendly, efficient and durable, extreme heat rises can cause their durability to decrease, with 80% of the power supply being turned into heat energy. Heat radiation systems are important because rising temperatures affect the lifetime of LED elements. Therefore, in this paper, thermal analysis was performed for the shape of heat sink to the LED bulb. Also, it is applied the temperature control systems to our products for optimal performance.
The chloride penetration in concrete structures is influenced by many factors such as types of cement and admixture proportion. Therefore, the effects of these factors on chloride diffusion must be correctly considered. The conventional diffusion analysis also neglected the existence of reinforcing bar in concrete structures. The purpose of the present paper is therefore to investigate the effect of reinforcing bar on the chloride diffusion in concrete structures. For this purpose, a comprehensive finite element analyses have been conducted to obtain chloride penetration profile. The results indicate that the chlorides are accumulated in front of a reinforcing bar and that the accumulation is much larger for the case of large diameter bars. The higher accumulation of chloride at bar location causes much faster corrosion of reinforcing steel. It can be concluded from the present study that the effects of reinforcing bars must be considered in chloride diffusion analysis for more realistic prediction of durable life of concrete structures.

A wheel loader is a type of construction machinery that is capable of performing a variety of tasks, and demands on its functional diversity and structural reliability are growing. A wheel bearing is one of the core components that determine the life of the loader; taper roller bearings are commonly used for this purpose. The lifetime of a bearing is typically calculated based only on its load and revolution speed. The initial preload of a taper roller bearing is a critical factor that directly affects its endurance life. In this study, the relations between the endurance life and preload characteristics including the amount of preload according to the weight, rotational speed, and thermal modification applied to tapered roller bearings are presented. When the temperature is $100^{\circ}C$, an excessive preload condition is expected compared with that at room temperature, and the durable life decreases by 20.3 %.

Hydrolysis of sodium borohydride provides a safe and clean approach to hydrogen generation. Having the proper catalytic support for controlling this reaction is therefore a valuable technology. Here we demonstrate the capability of hydroxyapatite as a novel catalytic support material for hydrogen generation. Aside from being inexpensive and durable, we reveal that Ru ion exchange on the HAP surface provides a highly active support for sodium borohydride hydrolysis, exemplifying a high total turnover number of nearly 24,000 mol $H_2$/ mol Ru. Moreover, we observe that the RuHAP support exhibits a high catalytic lifetime of approximately one month upon repeated exposure to $NaBH_4$ solutions. In addition to examining surface area effects, we also identified the role of complex surface morphology in enhancing hydrolysis by the catalytic transition metal covered surface. Particularly, we found that a polycrystalline RuHAP catalytic support exhibits shorter induction times for the initial bubble formation as well as increased hydrogen generation rates as compared to a single crystal supports. The independent factor of a complex surface morphology is believed to provide enhanced sites for gas release during the initial stages of the reaction. By demonstrating the ability to shorten induction time and enhance catalytic activity through changes in surface morphology and Ru content, we find it feasible to further explore this catalyst support in the construction of a practical hydrogen generator.

A long-term variation of electrode polarization in the MCFC has been analyzed successfully using a single cell with a Au, $CO_2/O_2$ reference electrode Four different cells with different components were operated and their electrode polarizations were analyzed. As published in the literatures, the cathode polarization was larger than that of the anode. The more stable operation of a single cell with the Al-coated cell frame up to 6,000hrs indicates that the corrosion at the cell frame, particularly wet seal area, plays an important role to determine the lifetime of a MCFC. At the initial stage of the cell operation, the voltage of the cell using a cathode stabilized by the $LiCoO_2$ coating was relatively low due to the high cathode polarization. As the cell was operated and the stabilized cathode was lithiated sufficiently, the cathode polarization decreased and the cell voltage was recovered. It was observed that the voltage of the cell using the $Li_2CO_3/Na_2CO_3$ electrolyte fluctuated with operation time and the cathode polarization fluctuated along with the cell voltage quite similarly. Although the mechanisms of the voltage fluctuation were not clear yet, the results imply that the voltage fluctuation was related with a reaction in the cathode side. After testing every single cell, the cathode polarization increased with the steep decrease in the cell voltage. Thus, the cathode should be improved in order to develop more durable MCFC.
