직접변위기반 설계법에 의한 SRC 합성기둥의 내진성능평가 (Seismic Performance Evaluation of SRC Composite Column using Direct Displacement Based Design Method)

  • 본 연구에서는 변위기반 성능설계 개념에 의해 기존 철근콘크리트 기둥과 콘크리트에 강재를 매입한 SRC 합성기둥에 대하여 최대 설계지진 가속도에 대한 내진성능개선의 성능설계을 비교하였다. SRC 합성기둥은 구조물의 강도를 증가시킬 뿐 아니라 연성도를 증가시키는 효과가 있다. SRC 합성기둥의 단면은 H형 강재와 원형의 중공 강관을 매입한 형태로 구성되어 있다. SRC 합성기둥에 대한 P-M상관도와 단면 공칭휨모멘트를 분석하고 이를 바탕으로 SRC 합성기둥에 대한 설계 변위 추정을 위해 변위기반 내진 설계 알고리즘을 제시하였다. 성능기반설계에 의한 성능개선설계를 위하여 목표성능변위 및 설계지진가속도 조건에 대해 직접변위 기반 설계방법 및 변위계수법에 의한 내진성능개선 설계 방법을 제시하였다. SRC 합성기둥은 기존 RC 기둥과 비교하여 성능개선 설계 결과 변위 연성비 및 변위성능에서 크게 개선된 성능설계 결과를 나타내었다.

극한 상태에서 A490 고장력 볼트 세트의 체결 품질 연구 (The Joining Quality of High Strength Bolt, Nut and Washer Set (A490) in the Extreme Conditions)

  • This test focuses on the correlation between the lubrication, ductility and strength through the change of nut lubricant which decides joining angle for A490 bolt sets required in the AASHTO (American Association of State Highway & Transportation Officials). Because the lubrication of high tension bolt, nut, washer sets becomes an important factor to ductility and joining load, the quality improvement is required for improving reliability and securing enough lubrication of maker and user. This study examines the quality characteristics required in the specification through tests because only this standard specifies joining quality in the extreme conditions (as much about two times of the joining angle on site as normal condition). Moreover, this study is limited to the test on joining axial force required in the AASHTO for the three nut lubrication conditions of A490 bolt set. It is concluded that the nuts should be coated or waxed enough for the improvement of the joining axial force and ductility of bolts required in the standards. It is shown that in the case of plain high tension bolt sets, a rust preventing lubricative oil shall be applied and the torque coefficient value for A490 bolt sets should be maintained below 0.175.

  • The effect of CaO addition to AM60B Mg alloy on tensile properties has been investigated, with focus on strength and ductility at room and elevated temperatures. The 0.25-0.65wt% CaO added AM60B Eco-Mg diecastings were prepared by high pressure die casting using Buhler 1,450-ton cold chamber machine without $SF_6$ and $SO_2$ gases. The microstructures and tensile properties of each alloy were tested. The results show that the grains of AM60B are refined and the mechanical properties increase with CaO addition at room temperature. The improvement of strength and ductility is prominent at 0.45-0.55wt% CaO addition. Also, improved mechanical properties are maintained at elevated temperature of $150^{\circ}C$. CaO addition results in $Al_2Ca$ phase formation mostly on the grain boundaries. This phase leads to the refinement of grain structures and improvement of ductility as well as strength. The suppression of ${\beta}-Mg_{17}Al_{12}$ phase as well as the decrease of fracture surface porosity and other casting defects caused by melt cleanliness also contribute to the enhancement of mechanical properties of AM60B Eco-Mg at room and elevated temperature.

Strength and ductility of biaxially loaded high strength RC short square columns wrapped with GFRP jackets

  • The present study is an experimental investigation into the behaviour of high strength concrete square short columns subjected to biaxial bending moments and strengthened by GFRP laminates. The main objectives of the study are: to evaluate the improvement in the structural performance of HSC short square columns subjected to small biaxial eccentricity when strengthened by externally applied FRP laminates, and to investigate the optimum arrangement and amount of FRP laminates to achieve potential enhancement in structural performance especially ductility. The parameters considered in this study are: number of FRP layers and arrangement of wraps. The load eccentricity is kept corresponding to e/t = 0.125 in two perpendicular directions to the columns principal axes, and the wraps are applied in single or double layers (partial or full wrapping). In the present work, test results of five full scale concrete columns are presented and discussed. The study has shown that FRP wraps can be used successfully to enhance the ductility of HSC columns subjected to biaxial bending by 300%.

CFRP판을 단부정착한 RC보의 휨성능 개선에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on Flexural Performance Evaluation of RC Beams Strengthened with Anchored CFRP Plates)

  • 본 논문의 목적은 CFRP판을 여러 가지 방법으로 보강한 RC보의 휨 거동을 실험적으로 비교, 분석하는 것이다. 휨 보강방법은 표면부착만 한 경우, CFRP판을 부착 후 단부정착한 경우 및 프리스트레스를 가한 후 단부정착한 경우의 3가지로 대별하였다. 실험결과는 단부정착한 RC보가 표면부착만 한 경우와 비교하여 연성이 증대되고 극한하중과 처짐 등의 휨성능이 개선되어 단부정착 방법이 효율적임을 보여주었으며, 특히 CFRP판에 프리스트레스를 가한 후 단부정착한 경우가 극한하중 및 연성이 현저히 증가함을 보였다.

철근콘크리트 전단벽의 접합방식과 대각보강에 따른 내진성능 평가 및 개선 (Improvement and Evaluation for Seismic Resistant Capacity of Reinforced Concrete Shear wall with Connection Types and Diagonal Reinforcement)

  • Six reinforced concrete shear wall, constructured with fully rigid, slit, and infilled types, were tested under both vertical and cyclic loadings. Experimental programs were carried out to evaluate the seismic performance of such test specimens, such as the hysteretic behavior, the maximum horizontal strength, crack propagation, and ductility, under load reversals. All the specimens were modeled in one-third scale size. Based on the test results, the following conclusions can be made. For the diagonal reinforced slit and infilled shear wall specimens, it was found that the failure mode shows very effective crack control and crushing due to slippage prevention of boundary region and reduction of diagonal tension rathar than the brittle shear and diagonal tension failure. The ductility of specimens designed by the diagonal reinforcement for the slit and infilled shear wall was increased 1.72~1.81 times in comparison with the fully rigid shear wall frame. Maximum horizontal load-carrying capacity of specimens designed by the diagonal reinforcement ratio the slit and infilled shear wall was increased respectively by l.14 times and l.49 times in comparison with the standard fully rigid shear wall frame.

Retrofitting of exterior RC beam-column joints using ferrocement jackets

  • Beam-column joints are recognized as one of the most critical and vulnerable zones of a Reinforced Concrete (RC) moment resisting structure subjected to seismic loads. The performance of the deficient beam-column joints can be improved by retrofitting these joints by jacketing them with varied materials like concrete, steel, FRP and ferrocement. In the present study strength behavior of RCC exterior beam-column joints, initially loaded to a prefixed percentage of the ultimate load, and retrofitted using ferrocement jacketing using two different wrapping schemes has been studied and presented. In retrofitting scheme, RS-I, wire mesh is provided in L shape at top and at bottom of the beam-column joint, whereas, in scheme RS-II along with wire mesh in L shape at top and bottom wire mesh is also provided diagonally to the joint. The results of these retrofitted beam-column joints have been compared with those of the controlled joint specimens. The results show an improvement in the ultimate load carrying capacity and yield load of the retrofitted specimens. However, no improvement in the ductility and energy absorption has been observed.

철근콘크리트 프레임면내 조적벽체의 내진성능 평가 및 개선기술 (Improvement and Evaluation of Seismic Resistant Performance of Reinforced Concrete Infilled Masonry Frame)

  • Five reinforced concrete rigid frame and masonry infilled wall and cut off type masonry infilled wall were tesed during vertical and cyclic loads simultaneously. Experimental programs were accomplished to improve and evaluate the structural performance of test specimens, such as the hysteretic behavior, the maximum horizontal strength, crack propagation, and ductility etc. Test variables are hoop reinforcement ratio, with or without masonry infilled wall, and masonry method. All the specimens were constructed in one-third scale size. Based on the test results, the following conclusions can be made. For masonry infilled wall(IFB-1), maximum horizontal capacity was increased by 1.45 time in comparision with that of rigid frame(FB-0). For cut off masonry infilled wall (IFBC-1~3), maximum horizontal capacity was increased by 1.73~1.98 time in comparision with that of rigid frame(FB-0). For cut off masonry infilled wall(IFBG-1~3), ductility was increased by 1.48~2.08 time in comparision with that of masonry infilled wall (IFB-1).

  • 본 연구에서는 기존 철근콘크리트건물 보-기둥 접합부의 내진 성능을 개선하기 위하여 탄소섬유를 사용하여 구조물을 보강한 후 실험을 수행하였다. 이를 위하여 6개의 철근콘크리트 보-기둥 접합부를 제작하였으며, 지진하중과 같은 반복하중이 작용할 때 보강재료 및 보강영역 등을 변수로 하여 실험을 수행하여 각 보강변수에 따른 보강효과를 평가하였다. 본 실험을 통하여 구조물의 내진 성능 및 연성능력을 증진시킬 목적으로 새로운 보강재료(탄소섬유판, 탄소섬유봉, 탄소섬유쉬트)로 설계된 보강 실험체(RPC-CP2, RPC-CR, RJC-CP, RJC-CR)들은 내력증진은 물론이고 안정적인 이력거동을 확보할 수 있었다.

Comparative performance of seismically deficient exterior beam-column sub-assemblages of different design evolutions: A closer perspective

  • In the present study, exterior beam column sub-assemblages are designed in accordance with the codal stipulations prevailed at different times prior to the introduction of modern seismic provisions, viz., i) Gravity load designed with straight bar anchorage (SP1), ii) Gravity load designed with compression anchorage (SP1-D), iii) designed for seismic load but not detailed for ductility (SP2), and iv) designed for seismic load and detailed for ductility (SP3). Comparative seismic performance of these exterior beam-column sub-assemblages are evaluated through experimental investigations carried out under repeated reverse cyclic loading. Seismic performance parameters like load-displacement hysteresis behavior, energy dissipation, strength and stiffness degradation, and joint shear deformation of the specimens are evaluated. It is found from the experimental studies that with the evolution of the design methods, from gravity load designed to non-ductile and then to ductile detailed specimens, a marked improvement in damage resilience is observed. The gravity load designed specimens SP1 and SP1-D respectively dissipated only one-tenth and one-sixth of the energy dissipated by SP3. The specimen SP3 showcased tremendous improvement in the energy dissipation capacity of nearly 2.56 times that of SP2. Irrespective of the level of design and detailing, energy dissipation is finally manifested through the damage in the joint region. The present study underlines the seismic deficiency of beam-column sub-assemblages of different design evolutions and highlights the need for their strengthening/retrofit to make them fit for seismic event.
