  • We present a new password system, called dual password system, with the user verification procedure. Dual password system is the first password system in the world preventing the exposure of secret information to imposter at the terminal. User of dual password system matches two alphabets at same location of first password and second password iteratively for inputting password. Therefore, the deriving method of first password and second password from the password is important in dual password system. Related to the deriving method of first password and second password from password, a new problem, called dual password derivation problem, is defined, and the evaluation factors for the solutions of the dual password derivation problem are presented.

  • In this paper, a reliable control system structured with dual CPU modules and dual I/O modules is implemented as a means of achieving a highly reliable fault tolerant control system. For this, faults in the system modules are first examined, and a fault detection technique consisting of self diagnostic, comparison process, and exception processing is applied. Also reliability analysis is conducted for the discrete time Markov model with dual structure. It is shown quantitatively that the reliability is improved in the control system with dual structure in comparison with a system with single module structure.

  • A spreader pose control system using dual-electric compasses has been implemented by measuring the skew angle of the spreader with dual-electric compasses. In the conventional spreader pose measurement, CCD cameras, laser sensors or tilt sensors are mostly used. However those sensors are not only sensitive to the weather and disturbances but also expensive to build the system. To overcome the shortcomings, an inexpensive and efficient system to control the spreader pose has been implemented using the dual-magnetic compasses. Since the spreader iron-structures are noise sources to the magnetic compass, it is not considered to use the magnetic compass to measure the orientation of the spreader. An algorithm to eliminate the interferences of metal structures to the dual compasses has been developed in this paper. The 10:1 reduction model of a spreader control system is implemented and the control performance is demonstrated to show the effectiveness of the dual-magnetic compasses proposed in this research.

  • The new seismic retrofit system in study propose is the Dual system, which aims to be applied to the seismically vulnerable low-story buildings. The Dual system is composed of existing structure, external retrofit frame and hysteretic steel dampers installed between former two components. The Dual system dissipates the energy by plastic deformation of steel damper caused by relative displacement due to the differences in stiffness, weight, and eigenperiod of each components. The dynamic test with shaking table was performed to verify the seismic performance of the proposed Dual system. As a result of the dynamic test, it is expected that the Dual system will improve the seismic performance due to the reduction of strain of 56% and the damage reduction of 93%, even though the energy is 1.84 times higher than that of the dual system. And the results of the study are presented as basic data of the study for setting the design range of the dual system.

  • Floor panel heating system using hot water is the primary heating system of domestic residential building. This paper presents the results of performance analysis of the heat pump system with air source evaporator and single unit dual sink(SUDSk) condenser. The heat exchanger combines two separated condensers into a single condenser and the object of the SUDSk condenser is to release energy to dual sinks, i.e. air for air heating system and water for panel heating system in one single unit. Simulation program is developed for single unit dual source(SUDS) SUDSk heat pump system and some experimental data are obtained and compared with simulation results. Differences of heating capacity and COP in dual source operating mode are 7% and 8% respectively. Simulation results are in good agreement with test results. Therefore, developed program is effectively used for design and performance prediction of dual source dual sink heat pump system with SUDS evaporator and SUDSk condenser.

  • With the rapid development of the Chinese water project, the safety monitoring of dams is urgently needed. Many drawbacks exist in dams, such as high monitoring costs, a limited equipment service life, long-term monitoring difficulties. MEMS sensors have the advantages of low cost, high precision, easy installation, and simplicity, so they have broad application prospects in engineering measurements. This paper designs intelligent monitoring based on the collaborative measurement of dual MEMS sensors. The system first determines the endpoint coordinates of the sensor array by the coordinate transformation relationship in the monitoring system and then obtains the dam settlement according to the endpoint coordinates. Next, this paper proposes a dual-MEMS sensor collaborative measurement algorithm that builds a mathematical model of the dual-sensor measurement. The monitoring system realizes mutual compensation between sensor measurement data by calculating the motion constraint matrix between the two sensors. Compared with the single-sensor measurement, the dual-sensor measurement algorithm is more accurate and can improve the reliability of long-term monitoring data. Finally, the experimental results show that the dam subsidence monitoring system proposed in this paper fully meets the engineering monitoring accuracy needs, and the dual-sensor collaborative measurement system is more stable than the single-sensor monitoring system.

  • Recently, SRAO has upgraded from one-pole system software to dual-pole system software. We present the new dual-pole system software and how it works in detail. Dual-pole observation is enabled with just some commands. To do so, backend-system controls two different hardwares, proceeds two different data and make two files at one observation.
